Some of us have been here a while and others have only just joined. If you're lurking, feel free to say hello. We are quite friendly really.

You are welcome to join us, whatever sort of cancer you have, or if you're waiting for tests to find out whether you have cancer or not (we hope not!)

Our previous thread is here. Do check it out if you're new as there's lots of useful information in the first few posts.

Best wishes to everyone who finds themselves here Flowers

Good news from me - my tumours are still stable :) annoyingly my pulmonary emboli are still there so I need an increased dose of blood thinner injections

I hope everyone is having a nice day Flowers

TheTurnOfTheScrew we really are in very similar positions aren't we? Best of luck for Sunday; I'll be thinking of you Flowers

ggirl I hope you get your results soon; the waiting is the worst thing.

I've finally had my appointment through for my scan. Next Thursday the 1st March. On one hand I'm pleased as it won't interfere with work but it seems ages away; especially when the last 5 days since my GP appointment have felt like 5 weeks!

ggirl · 21/02/2018 15:06

Excellent news Leslie ! Stable is good , don't you wish they could just suck that annoying embolism out with a big sucky straw and be done with it.

I phoned the secretary and she said he's looked at the histology results and an appointment has been sent out for march 8th to discuss. Sounds more ominous than his initial breezy 'I'll call you with the results" but I'm trying not to read too much into it.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 21/02/2018 15:10

Hi everyone!

Pleased you had a good result today, Leslie. Smile

Thinking of you at your appointment today furryface. Thanks

at everyone else.

My appointment with the haem to discuss results of my biopsy came through the post today. It's on the 2nd March - so only a week and a half away.

I'll be burying my head firmly in the sand until then ...

TwitterQueen1 · 21/02/2018 15:10

That's mostly good news Leslie - yay! stable is always good.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 21/02/2018 16:03

MarsBars it's hard to believe it's nearly March already! Shock good you've got an appointment, but sorry it's still a week away

ggirl yes a sucky straw would definitely be preferable to the injections! I think they do something like that for bigger clots. I'm glad you've got an appointment. Hopefully it's a good sign that they haven't rushed you in as soon as they got the results. I've learnt not to read into anything HCPs do! Though it's difficult not to wonder sometimes Flowers

Miles fingers crossed for your results Flowers bury away. There's no point thinking too much about it if you can avoid it!

TQ it is indeed. I'm so lucky it has worked so well. How are you feeling at the mo?

OP posts:
Cookiesandwine · 21/02/2018 16:13

ggirl if it reassures in any way, mine called up and asked me to come in for an appt straight away. As in, leave your work in the middle of the day and I am moving appts for you.

purpleunicorns · 21/02/2018 16:18

Fantastic news Leslie Smile

How did it go Furry? Hopefully you'll have good news too

Hope your feeling a bit better today Happyland, this is a good time to sort your wardrobe/declutter/decorate or whatever else you can do to take your mind off things. When they gave me a 2 week referral it felt like it went on for months Confused once you've been seen things will start to move quickly. My treatment finished last month and it feels like a lifetime away now

Happyland88 · 21/02/2018 16:40

Thanks for asking purpleunicorns - today hasn’t been very productive. I’ve spent any spare moment on google, basically gearing myself up for the worst case scenario. I’ve showered but haven’t bothered to get myself ready. I sound pathetic, but I don’t cope well with these sorts of things. No phone call yet with an appointment unfortunately. I’ll update once that comes through.

It sounds as though you are all coping so well. I don’t even have a diagnosis yet so I really need to pull it together.

purpleunicorns · 21/02/2018 17:22

Please stop googling! It's honestly nowhere near as bad as what you read on the internet. If you have to google stick to sites such as the NHS ones. Do you have anyone you can talk to in real life? Could you arrange to go and see friends for a coffee and talk to someone? Or even go and see your friends and talk about anything but this. You've done all you can do for now by going to the doctors about it. Be kind to yourself, have a soak in the bath, paint your nails or have some nice food

I KNOW it's shit right now but it really will get better and worrying won't change the outcome whatever it is Thanks

TolchockLovelyInTheLitso · 21/02/2018 17:40

Just back from hospital for 2nd cycle of chemo and this thread popped up on Active Threads, so I'm popping by to say hi. Hope you're all doing as well as possible.

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 21/02/2018 17:41

Happyland88 I've been guilty of furtive googling too and it's really no good Blush I'm in a similar position to you, in the waiting zone and it's SO frustrating I know. I agree with purpleunicorns, talking about it might help. It did for me. I bottled everything up for the first 48 hours and then blubbed all over my poor husband on Sunday afternoon. I was scared. I still am. But talking it over with him really did help to ease that knot of anxiety in the pit of my stomach.

Flowers for you x

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 21/02/2018 17:43

Leslie I know what you mean about the shock that it's nearly March! It feels like Christmas was only the other day Shock The nights are starting to get a little lighter though so Spring is definitely around the corner Smile

purpleunicorns · 21/02/2018 17:54

Hi Tolchock Smile how are you feeling after chemo? Hope your not having too many side effects from it. Do you have many more treatments left?

Furryface · 21/02/2018 17:58

Hi everyone. It's good news. Consultant couldn't find anything on my cervix at all. Really strange but good. Not sure what the GP saw. She wasn't too worried about the bleeding and said it's not unusual for my age. Thanks to Leslie, Miles, Purple and Twitter for wishing me well today. You lot are truly inspirational and I will be following how you're all doing.

So glad that you're stable Leslie. Good news. Very best wishes to you all lovely ladies. Thank you so much 💖 xxx

purpleunicorns · 21/02/2018 18:02

Fantastic news Furry! Now go and have a very large glass of wine GrinWine

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 21/02/2018 18:39

What a relief Furry :) I'm glad it's not anything to worry about, though I hope the bleeding calms down as it must be annoying Flowers

Hi Tolchock how is your chemo going? I hope the side effects are not too bad. What type of cancer is it for?

Happyland I'm sorry you are struggling at the moment. As purple says there is lots of nonsense on the internet so try to avoid Googling and just stick to legitimate websites. The chances of it being the worst case scenario are incredibly slim Flowers

I hope everyone is having a relaxing evening. We are having pizza to celebrate my good results :)

freddiemercury · 21/02/2018 21:01

Leslie so very pleased it's all looking stable...
And Furry delighted you can leave us...brilliant news
Love to everyone else...

Mamia15 · 21/02/2018 21:46

Great news Leslie - hope you enjoyed your pizza :)

wombat22 · 21/02/2018 22:02

Leslie Stable is great news Thanks
Furry That is fantastic news. Really pleased for you Wine Cake

Happyland88 · 21/02/2018 22:04

Amazing news Leslie ☺️ and thanks for your words of wisdom. It’s much appreciated.

Thanks to marsbars having answers has got to be better than this waiting.

purpleunicorns I really appreciate all of your advice. I’ve told my husband and one of my brothers and my parents. I had some wisdom teeth removed at the start of the week so I’ve been stuck in the house feeling worse for wear. I think I just need to get out of these four walls to get my mind off things.

Good news is that after my last post, I received a phone call with an appointment for the 5th March, so wheels are in motion.

Furryface I’m so pleased for you that it’s good news Smile and you’re worrying is over! Smile

puttingthegenieback · 21/02/2018 22:13

Just popping in from on holiday to have a quick read through the most recent posts and was so, so pleased to see your good news Leslie. Also very glad to see that Furry gets to leave us (I hope you will take that in the right way!!). Hello to all of you lovelies.

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 21/02/2018 22:17

Happyland88 good news that you've got your appointment through. I think you're definitely entitled to be feeling a bit crap after having wisdom teeth removed on top of everything else!

Haggisfish · 21/02/2018 22:34

Oh wisdom teeth removal sucks although it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am also bracing myself while desperately hoping I just have an odd fanny freckle! 😂 glad some results have been positive and glad furry gets to leave too. I should get results by Tuesday, hopefully.

ggirl · 21/02/2018 22:51

Cookiesandwine - god that must have been scary , yes it does reassure me ..thank you xx
