Some of us have been here a while and others have only just joined. If you're lurking, feel free to say hello. We are quite friendly really.

You are welcome to join us, whatever sort of cancer you have, or if you're waiting for tests to find out whether you have cancer or not (we hope not!)

Our previous thread is here. Do check it out if you're new as there's lots of useful information in the first few posts.

Best wishes to everyone who finds themselves here Flowers

Caught up a little now!

Nicky sorry to hear your news - thinking of you. I will stop moaning about not being able to swim for 3 months with picc line.

Penguins great they are covering all bases and hopefully it isn't anything sinister. The only real symptoms of my colon cancer were anaemia and a bit of bleeding. Gp put latter down to piles and former due to heavy periods and referred me to gynaecologist. In hindsight I wish I had pushed for tests but I had no idea. I think because I am young bowel cancer wasn't on their radar.

TQ moogoo is great. I like their hair stuff too - the protein conditioner is brilliant. I've ordered up some udderly smooth stuff for chemo but may treat myself to more moogoo too.

I'm finally being let out tomorrow. Tpn going off today Grin. Hopefully in time to start chemo next week.

penguinsandpanda · 04/04/2018 14:42

Tayto So sorry you've been in hospital for four weeks, that must have been ill. Max I've been in is a week with my daughter being premature and that left me wanting to smash my way out Grin Glad you are getting out tomorrow. Thanks so much for the advise on bowel cancer - that's exactly what I've had and it seems crazy as bowel cancer is so common. I will kick myself a bit if it is but trouble is I had bladder, gynae and the rectal bleeding altogether so 3 different referrals needed and felt good to get two out of three referrals. Sorry to hear you are young, so much worse.

penguinsandpanda · 04/04/2018 14:43

That's meant to say hell not ill.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 05/04/2018 12:42

Hello all

Sorry I’m a bit out of it at the moment. Pain and vomiting again so had to cancel my PET scan. I went to GP for pain meds and she took my temp. It was 38 so she called me an ambulance! I was admitted for antibiotics just in case but no sign of infection. Hopefully I’ll be allowed home. Just waiting for the oncology team to decide.

Tayto four weeks! Shock you poor thing. You must be climbing the walls. I hope things settle down soon so you can get home Flowers

nicky I’m thinking of you. And waving to everyone but have worn myself out so I’m going to nod off again any minute!

So sorry to hear you are feeling so ill Leslie Just go to sleep if you can and look after yourself.

purpleunicorns · 05/04/2018 13:07

Sorry to hear you're so poorly Leslie Thanks** hopefully you'll be home soon with your bunnies Easter Smile

TwitterQueen1 · 05/04/2018 16:21

Hi Leslie rubbish news Sad. Hopefully you're on your way home now with pain relief that is working. Shame about the PET scan too - I'm guessing that might have shown up a potential cause of your pain? I hope you don't have to wait too long for another appointment.

Nicky how are things with you?
Tayto are you home now? I haven't had to worry about hair stuff for the last 10 months or so - what with not having any to speak of! Easter Wink But it is growing back now.

chemo #4 (in this round) today. Cannula went in at 2nd attempt so not too bad. I always sit on the sunny side of the train on the way back so I have an excuse for closing my eyes....

penguinsandpanda · 05/04/2018 19:50

Hope the chemo went OK TQ and you aren't too bruised from the cannulas.

DH has gone away which makes my two hyper. Grin As we're stuck in bought a blender for DD, she needed the same one as a boyband have one Confused and so far today DD has blended 2 litres of ice cream, Nutella, waffles and about 3 packs of fruit. DS (11) got a toy lemur which he's named Amelia and is sleeping with.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 05/04/2018 20:27

TQ possibly, though I've had a stable CT scan since the pain started so if there's anything going on it must be tiny

Yay for chemo 4. And a nap on the train in the sunshine :)

penguins as long as Amelia doesn't make it into the blender... Shock my sister had a thing about ring-tailed lemurs when she was younger. We saw a lovely family at a wildlife park. The babies are so cheeky!

Talk of Nutella and ice cream has reminded me of for Nutella ice cream. It's really easy to make if you can persuade DD to whip up a batch for you!

I am home. The oncology team were happy for me to leave. But I can't have chemo until I've seen my oncologist next week. I'm still quite drowsy and my back is aching so I've made myself a pillow nest Grin

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 05/04/2018 20:52

Glad you're home Leslie and hope you feel better soon. Thanks very much for the nutella recipe, that's exactly the sort of healthy eating we do here!

DH did say to tell the kids he had blended Amelia 😱 DS laughed but DD screamed I can't use the blender now as I'm vegetarian. DS is feeding red pandas on 11th.

penguinsandpanda · 05/04/2018 21:01

Managed to get private doctor phone appointment for tomorrow at 11.20 hopefully to get tests privately. Its bad when you need your alarm to make sure you're awake by then. 😂 It wasn't 11.50am today. 😳

nickyplustwo · 05/04/2018 21:52

Hi all and thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes. Scan showed solid disease is stable so we’re taking that as a win and continued with cycle 4 chemo today. I have new anti sickness meds and the district nurse coming twice a week to drain ascites to keep that under control. It’s my birthday tomorrow so we’re having a family afternoon tea to celebrate in a low key fashion. Onwards! Hope your chemo went well today TQ and you discover a hidden Easter egg under a bed in the near future! Sorry to hear your PET scan was cancelled Leslie - I hope your pillow nest is comfy and that you’re back on track very soon. Big hugs. Blimey tayto you are a patient patient! I found once my bowels started remembering what they were for, everything slotted together quite quickly so I hope it’s the same for you and you’re home soon. mrsrhod no words of wisdom but fingers crossed it’s a temporary post op glitch. After my post-op scan they investigated putting in a ureteric stent as they were concerned some scar tissue was a bit close but it was nothing i’d noticed. Hope they can give you some answers. Good luck with private tests penguins; and watch out for the blender!
Birthday cake to you all xx

penguinsandpanda · 06/04/2018 00:00

Happy Birthday Nicky 🎂🎈🎉

Have a lovely afternoon tea. Thanks for the cake, will keep it away from DD or it will be blended!

TwitterQueen1 · 06/04/2018 08:40

I hope you have a lovely birthday Nicky. Cake Easter Grin Lots of tlc and R&R required for you today.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 06/04/2018 12:43

Happy birthday nicky CakeStarFlowers enjoy your afternoon. And I hope you are feeling OK after yesterday's chemo. Stable sounds good :)

penguins I hope the phone appointment went well

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 06/04/2018 12:47

Thanks Leslie told me to try not to worry but I need to be seen within 2 weeks and a specialist should call me back in next hour or so. He said if private can't do in two weeks try NHS but I've been trying NHS for ages though probably need to be more assertive.

How are you today?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 06/04/2018 13:09

Fingers crossed they can fit you in quickly Flowers

I'm alright thanks. The cramps and nausea are much better. Now I have this annoying griping pain over my whole abdomen Confused

It's nice and sunny here. I sat out on my swing bench earlier. I hope you've got sunshine too :)

penguinsandpanda · 06/04/2018 14:47

Sorry you're still in pain Leslie

Got a first consultation 9am Tuesday though 1 hour round M25 to get there in rush hour, DH will love that but I know he will want me seen quickly.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 06/04/2018 16:06

I'm glad you've got an appointment. What time will you have to leave to get there?! M25 is no fun, especially in rush hour.

I'm still quite uncomfortable, but I've just been to collect my glasses so I'm enjoying the novelty of being able to see the telly clearly Grin

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 06/04/2018 16:29

Not sure maybe 7am or 7.30am. I always pretend my eyesight is fine but I'm supposed to wear contacts. The only time it really bothers me is when I want to see animals in the wild.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 07/04/2018 09:48

At least if you're not driving you can sleep I suppose! :) how are you feeling today? You're brave wearing contacts. I couldn't do that.

OP posts:
WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 07/04/2018 09:49

Well. Not wearing them really. But you must've worn them at least once Grin

nickyplustwo · 07/04/2018 10:47

Thanks for your birthday wishes everyone. I had a nice wheel along the seafront in the sun, a much-needed haircut and a lovely afternoon with my whole family. My sister made me a quiz book of my life with lots of questions supplied by people from school, work, uni and life in general which made for some good reminiscing and plucking facts from the chemo fog! Lovely. House looks like a florist. It was a good day. Leslie hope the abdominal pain has subsided a bit and you’re rocking your new specs. I love contact lenses but haven’t worn mine since Xmas as i’ve had no brows or lashes and I look less like a potato in my glasses! Hope your appt goes well penguins. How’s your bladder mrsrhod? Xx

penguinsandpanda · 07/04/2018 13:09

Nicky So glad you had a lovely birthday and enjoy the flowers.

Leslie I'm OK thanks, slept until DH called at 12.30 Blush to ask if he can come home later grrrumf!

How are you feeling today?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 07/04/2018 15:08

nicky that sounds like a lovely birthday. I'm glad the sun came out for you! :) the quiz is a fantastic idea.

penguins you obviously needed the sleep! Your poor body has been through so much lately. I hope he gets home before all the food in the house has been blended... Grin

My temperature reached 38.5 during the night but no way was I going back to hospital. Thankfully it has gone back to normal. Bodies really are such a nuisance Hmm
