Anyone else have this awful virus?

Day 3 and I'm fucked! I have never experienced a sore throat like this. It's agony.

Dr prescribed naproxen and co-codimol. Can't take the naproxen yet as it's bid and I have already taken ibruprofen.

Not slept at all for 48 hours as my throat is too painful. Had to write a note for the Dr as I couldn't talk to explain symptoms.

He said there is a particular nasty virus that is poleaxing people for up to two weeks . I can't afford to take that time off work.

What I'm really after is self help for my throat - it is AGONY and I am besides myself. If I cough it feels like layers of skin being ripped from my throat. Strangely I don't think my tonsils are affected as it's more central roof of mouth.

He didn't say the f word though - just rest and fluids. Pain relief etc.

I felt sick to begin with hardly wanted to eat anything and had a really horrible taste in my mouth.
I think it’s affecting us all slightly differently my appetite has been coming back but only in the last couple of days but it’s nowhere like what it used to be. Just as well I have weight to loose.

I felt sick for a few days, today has been the first day I haven't. Was sick on day 2. Luckily I had some leftover antisickness meds from pregnancy which def helped. I've got a really bad pain in my stomach today, don't know if I've pulled something coughing. It's close to one of my appendectomy scars from a month ago... so worrying it's actually some internal infection I've got...? Then again it could just be another thing on the symptoms list for this virus.

I had that yesterday. Couldn't get rid of it but gone today.

I went back to work part time today. Very wheezy after going upstairs.
GP says cough will be around for a few more weeks probably and prescribed another round of steroids.

It really is a horrible virus. I think this is one of those times to be kind to yourself and a few little treats wouldn't go amiss.

Day 25 - and my sore throat has finally gone!

Labyrinthitis still hanging around although gradually getting better - if I stay still so does the world around me, but once I move I'm back on the bouncy castle.

I think I have this.. day 2 and I'm floored. I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant so there's a lot I can't have and we're supposed to be going to Rome on Sunday!!

theonlyoneilmow yes! You mean that weird, 'post flu'/ 'wrapping this shit up with a bit of nausea' nausea? I still have a sore throat and a cough which is still producing green-brown gunk. Nice! I'll have it on toast! But all 5 of us have had the weird day of nausea (2 of mine vomited once) as the flu itself wanes. It's like a last hurrah of misery before it leaves for good. I could cry I'm so tired.

Oh good, I'm out of codeine..... And taking it has made me constipated anyway, so may as well go back paracetamol anyway.

I've been back to work for 3 'short' shifts (8 hours instead of 13)
I feel better I that I've got no pain but I'm soooooo tired. And tonight TMI.....I had to run to the loo twice as I was in danger of pooing my pants now my stomach is gurgling away😣

Nausea for last couple of days so does that mean I'm in the home straight? Yay. Won't count my chickens though!

End of the 3rd week and every bit of my respiratory system has been affected at some point. It was catarrh in my sinus's last and swollen glands this week, today it's a chesty cough that's started. It's wearing me out!! Is there an end to this??

Still in bed still so ill I could cry. That's nearly been a whole week of having a temperature, muscles aching, sore throat, no appetite.

Suspected pneumonia here, been for an xray. Been given stronger anti biotics, doctor said if not better tomorrow to go to A&E.
Just feel ill all over.

Day 12. Still coughing and very light headed.

This COUGH!!! Makes me want to vomit and lose my breath (frightning). Getting so hacked off now!

YY to the nausea towards the end. Horrible. I went back to work today but only for a meeting. It’s completeky wiped me out, I’m exhausted and just want to crawl into bed. I’m finding that as soon as I get tired I get very dizzy and wobbly.

Bastard bug. Wish it would just FUCK OFF!!! I’m on a night shift tomorrow: should be fun.

Day I don't even know anymore ok I feel so much better but I still FEEL LIKE SHIT!! wheezy and nauseous with occasional ear ache. Please just cut me some fucking slack ffs. Managing work and that's about it. Dp been laid up for a month. Just fuck off now

Theonlyone I couldn't breathe during and straight after coughing and have been prescribed an inhaler? See how you are.

Sorry everyone is still feeling so bad, let's hope the weekend brings some much needed rest and recuperation.

Day 17, still have a fever, still hardly any voice, sore throat (though not as bad as first week). Breathless if I try to talk or walk. Nearly vomited yesterday after trying to have first phone conversation.

Borrowed DH fitness watch and my heart rate goes to 138 if I get up from the sofa and put the kettle on (about 7 steps).

Did manage to walk to GP and back without stopping multiple times though. It's not far.

Saw GP today. She took my temp and muttered,’Impressive’ then she listened to my chest which she described as rather noisy. Apparently I also have an ear infection which is affecting my balance. I came out clutching antibiotics as if they were the Holy Grail! She also told me notes had been flagged and I would be seen same day if I was worried. Oh what fun I have...

Day can't remember but week 3 and I finally feel just under the weather as opposed to too ill to care. Hopefully this is it...

I tried to sing along to the radio earlier and the noise was an affront to ears, thank god only the cat was here to wince.

Day 16 for me and thankfully the trips to the bathroom ended yesterday and I am trying to eat again, not easy with my stomach now the size of a walnut!! Starting to feel better but still have a hacking unproductive cough and runny nose and still some sweaty and shivery episodes. However, I am functioning enough to realise that my house is in a terrible mess and I am sick of the sight of my virus ridden bedroom. Professionals saying that it lasts 5-7 days. Really!! Come down here and I'll give you a dose!!!

I am on day 21 - up and back at work but totally and utterly knackered ALL the fricking time Still heaving and retching with the coughing in the morning, throat sore. But OMG it's the relentless tiredness that is killing me. Got up to help DH with the early feeds (we have horses, chickens, cows, sheep etc) and I need to go back to bed. Haven;t been to Dr as I don't suppose he can do much and I am terrified of getting a different strain.

Yes, I had the nausea too - didn't eat for a week. I'm never ill, Bloody hate this.
