Anyone else have this awful virus?

Day 3 and I'm fucked! I have never experienced a sore throat like this. It's agony.

Dr prescribed naproxen and co-codimol. Can't take the naproxen yet as it's bid and I have already taken ibruprofen.

Not slept at all for 48 hours as my throat is too painful. Had to write a note for the Dr as I couldn't talk to explain symptoms.

He said there is a particular nasty virus that is poleaxing people for up to two weeks . I can't afford to take that time off work.

What I'm really after is self help for my throat - it is AGONY and I am besides myself. If I cough it feels like layers of skin being ripped from my throat. Strangely I don't think my tonsils are affected as it's more central roof of mouth.

The most impressive nasal drop you've ever seen.

He didn't say the f word though - just rest and fluids. Pain relief etc.

Anyone want to join my pity party?

Felt bit better on a feuds and Saturday morning then bang, fever up to 38+ again, congested, sore face, and having to catch by breathe after coughing. spoke to OOH who told me to go to walk in. Dr said it's a nasty virus, taking up to 6 weeks to fully recover! Thankfully no chest infection but given me an inhaler as bronchial tubes going on into spasms when I cough. I am so over this! DH laughed when I told him it could go on for 6 weeks, I am not known for my patience....

Freezing cold all day due to fever but then have she related hot sweat!!! Have to take off blankets and dressing gown until it passed and then quickly layer up again.

6 weeks that explains it. I've had it since about the 12 th of December that means I should be over it now but I'm not. Going to have to ring into work again. I went out to church and couldn't speak a full sentence. Four people told me how awful I looked. "Worse than last week!"said one. They ARE friends.
On steroids for a week. Been awake since 3:30am.

LEM 😳 I hope you feel better by then. Could you miss it and take it again when you feel better? I am finding I can't concentrate very well.

Six weeks! That explains how it comes back.

Lem at least work are aware that you have had this. Delay the exam? How can you study feeling like this. Talk to them?

I have depression and am concerned about how this will affect me.

The cough and sore throat has kicked in. I will sleep in the spare bed tonight felt so sorry for dh.

Another sleepless night here, in pain and can’t cough or sneeze without my whole body aching, was up at 4:30am finding ibuprofen

I feel a million times better than I did Wednesday-Saturday but I’m sooooo exhausted and still have swollen glands. Last day of the antibiotics today.

I’m conscious that there’s so much to do (3 small DCs) yet I’m very aware of what a lot of you are saying about relapsing. One more day on the sofa then I really need to get going tomorrow.

I'm yo-yoing all over the place. Yesterday was great after a horrible night and I felt much more part of the world than I have in days. Again, my temp dropped and my other symptoms were greatly reduced. Today the fever hit again, I have the headache from hell, I'm drained of energy and my sinuses are on fire. Just NO! Enough! Am back in bed feeling very sorry for myself.

Currently two and a half weeks in, the cough is the worst and sleeping sitting up, inhaling olbas oil helps

I'm in the club too unfortunately 😞. Started about 3 weeks ago, I had a week off work sick, went back in for a day then sent home, worked mon to Thursday last week but came home sick again after I fainted at work ( and sprained my ankle in the process😡.)

Off work again today, starting to feel a lot better now as sore throat, fever and diarrhoea have stopped, just tiredness and this bloody cough now. I feel so guilty for being off so long, might go back in tomorrow, but would be embarrassed if it was too soon again after 2 false starts at returning already 😳

I just started it last night. Sore throat, fever. I'm self employed and have already canceled clients so great, no money this week.

Day 22, it really is the gift that keeps on giving. Now had labyrinthitis for a week and a half, if anyone else has this try travel sickness tablets. It seems to counteract the worst if the symptoms - I'm still not right but able to move round the house without feeling like I'm about to topple over.

Flowers for everyone still suffering. I agree it's strangely encouraging to know I'm not the only one going through this.

Day 13, still signed off work. Can speak a little, still have sore throat and using difflam, seem to always have a mild temp. Feel weak and wobbly and haven't left house since GP last Weds. The cough has started now, and coughing up gunk including blood-stained mucus.

Had to cancel going on a great work opportunity to Norway today Angry. Arghhhhh! This has totally floored me. I havent had any fever just feel like I have been hit by a bus, limbs ache and just want to sleep. Cough is unpredictable. My back is so sore...... and marathon training taking a total set back. We need this thread Smile Have also lost 6lbs as have zero appetite (except for ice lollies!). I didnt have a flu jab? My partner went and got one when he saw how ill I am.

I’m on Day 15 now, after day 9 I felt much better (bit tired and the cough...but otherwise ok and able to go to work) but now it seems to have come back again! Totally exhausted and I’m in bed again, not as poorly as before and can’t be sure it’s the same thing but as I never felt fully well again I’m wondering if it is. So very tired and still got this silly cough!

oh I really hope it doesn't return!! Day 7 for me and I feel much better but so exhausted. every time I sit down I fall asleep and my head still feels 'foggy' I went to the supermarket today, first time for ages and I'm totally knackered now! Back to work tomorrow, should be fun!Confused
