We had an update today. Dh is just about to start the last of his planned treatments. This is his sixth month of treatment, and the last round hit him very hard. Following the last Chemo infusion he spent the better part of 5 days in bed.

Following a chat with the doctor she agreed that an extra week off would be a good idea.

Initially she had told us that after sixth months of treatmet they had nothing else to offer dh, and that it would then just be a matter a time until the tumours grew back.

BUT today she tells us that following further research they will continue to give dh the treatment, at a reduced dose, for as long as he can tolerate it, and it is still doing some good!

The best news we have had in a while!

We are already coming to the end of the 3-6 months that they initials gave us as a life expectancy. We have two holidays under our belts that we never thought he would have been fit enough to take. More memories for the children. We have more holidays booked.

So thanks to the miracles of modern science, DHs bloodymindedness, good fortune and the kind thoughts, best wishes and prayers of family and friends it would seem as if I will have my darling, darling man for a little while longer!

Martianbishop - thanks for the update, and it's great your year so far has gone better than you feared; and I'm delighted you've been able to travel and holiday and create precious memories.

Like many others I think of you often and what you're going through. I hope your school continue to be supportive.

Best wishes,
Roisin x

Another one here who often wonders but doesn't ask, how you are all doing!

It really is heartwarming to read these updates.

It is said that positive attitudes help and you guys deserve everything good that comes your way - you are so positive.

Very best wishes as always to you all x

slowreader · 24/04/2007 19:27

Heroes. All four of you.

Your son has a very familiar smile. I am sure I have seen it on a big screen sometime...

greenday · 24/04/2007 19:28

Oh, that's great news. I remembered reading about your DH but at that time, I was quite a newbie and just getting acquainted with the whole MN forum. When I posted the thread asking for recommendations for Cherbourg accommodation and you responded, I did wonder about your DH but didn't dare ask. Anyway, just to say that you/he have been on my mind and it's great to hear such positive news!! Really happy for you!! Enjoy your holidays!!

jabberwocky · 24/04/2007 19:31

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 24/04/2007 19:43
