We had an update today. Dh is just about to start the last of his planned treatments. This is his sixth month of treatment, and the last round hit him very hard. Following the last Chemo infusion he spent the better part of 5 days in bed.

Following a chat with the doctor she agreed that an extra week off would be a good idea.

Initially she had told us that after sixth months of treatmet they had nothing else to offer dh, and that it would then just be a matter a time until the tumours grew back.

BUT today she tells us that following further research they will continue to give dh the treatment, at a reduced dose, for as long as he can tolerate it, and it is still doing some good!

The best news we have had in a while!

We are already coming to the end of the 3-6 months that they initials gave us as a life expectancy. We have two holidays under our belts that we never thought he would have been fit enough to take. More memories for the children. We have more holidays booked.

So thanks to the miracles of modern science, DHs bloodymindedness, good fortune and the kind thoughts, best wishes and prayers of family and friends it would seem as if I will have my darling, darling man for a little while longer!

He is very very dashing in that uniform!! You are a great looking family MB, and I hope Mr MB is with you for as long as possible.
I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
Seeing your pics made it feel more real somehow (is that a really odd thing to say?) and I have come over all teary...

so pleased to hear that things are going better than first expectations - hope you have a lovely holiday. Lyme Regis is great! And there is a lovely wool shop there as well.

beckybrastraps · 24/04/2007 14:52

I never think of him as Mr MartianBishop. Always as Squadron Leader (apologies if I'm demoting him BTW - no idea about RAF hierarchy), with a Biggles-style flying jacket!

Good to hear the lovely update.

DrNortherner · 24/04/2007 14:53

Lovely news MB. Iam in awe of you.

Can't see pic's though

Blandmum · 24/04/2007 14:54
