Hi
I'd be glad of any advice or personal experiences here. I am around 4 stone overweight, so definitely obese. Most of it is on my stomach though, which now looks like I'm 11 months pregnant with triplets. I'm in my 50s so this is not a possibility. It's very painful and I am short of breath when I walk etc.

I've put on a lot of weight in a short period - 10lbs in 2 months.

Six months ago I was bodyboarding in the sea, walking every day and doing an exercise class every week. Now it's a struggle to do anything.

I'm having bloods done on Friday but any ideas / comments? Am I just unlucky to pile it all on in one place?

Also de lurking to wish you all the best Flowers

Good luck for Friday. I was told 8-10 hrs for a radical and it ended up being about half of that. I think it takes longer if you need to have your bowel re-sectioned which they're not always sure about until they're 'in'. I agree with the other poster about going easy on your stomach afterwards - it took my digestive system a good 10 days to get with the program afterwards! But otherwise, recovery was much better than I had feared. I wish you all the very best x

I am rooting for you, TQ. Was on the thread earlier but have namechanged.

Sounds like a long op, hopefully they will be digging around and getting everything out (notice use of my expert medical terminology there).

Best wishes for Friday. Star

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Still thinking of you. How are you coping. Have you packed that v swish dressing gown?

SouthWestmom · 05/07/2017 21:33

Oh my goodness you are very brave and sensible. So glad I spotted your update on active - lots of good wishes for you and your body on Friday

flyright · 05/07/2017 21:35

Here's another set of crossed fingers and toes. Thinking of you. Flowers

worriedbigsis · 05/07/2017 21:47

Bloody well done TQ on making this happen. Seems so unfair that you have to take on the responsibility for the solution as well as being the patient. Regardless, it is fantastic that surgery is an option for you and fantastic that you're making it happen this week (scary as that might be too). Hang on in there - there are lots of us out here rooting for you and sending you strength. Buy yourself flowers and treats and spoil yourself tomorrow! Flowers

TwitterQueen1 · 05/07/2017 21:51

Hello Barchester. I am indeed going to pack my floaty, swishy dressing gown. The red spotty hospital socks do spoil the look a bit though...

I am packing cashews too. Though since I'm going private I wonder if I can order them? Apparently one has a hot and cold menu to choose from in one's private room.

I'm feeling the pressure to cut and paint my nails, trim my hair (if I had any) and pretty myself up a bit so as not to disappoint anyone. Wink

I hope it all goes well.

When I had a very minor op privately I was very impressed by the selection of biscuits afterwards.

Wishing you jammy dodgers and bourbon creams. Maybe even a Jaffa Cake.

camelfinger · 05/07/2017 22:20

Just rtft. Sending best wishes for your mammoth op.

BarchesterFlowers · 05/07/2017 22:22

Hello dear TQ, don't bother with all that, eat cashews and have a few Wine instead.

I will be thinking of you. I told my lovely lovely dad about you today TQ Grin, he is coming with me on Friday to my appt (he insisted). He said God bless her (he is nearly 80). So the positive vibes are now coming from even further!

NoClassWithNoDoodle · 05/07/2017 22:34
