Hi
I'd be glad of any advice or personal experiences here. I am around 4 stone overweight, so definitely obese. Most of it is on my stomach though, which now looks like I'm 11 months pregnant with triplets. I'm in my 50s so this is not a possibility. It's very painful and I am short of breath when I walk etc.

I've put on a lot of weight in a short period - 10lbs in 2 months.

Six months ago I was bodyboarding in the sea, walking every day and doing an exercise class every week. Now it's a struggle to do anything.

I'm having bloods done on Friday but any ideas / comments? Am I just unlucky to pile it all on in one place?

Grrr at your wasted trip. I suppose at least they realised before they started stabbing you Shock

Sorry I thought I'd replied the other day but clearly not Confused good you can get a PICC line appointment easily if needed

Good luck with the surgeon. Are they doing the laparoscopy on Monday or is that just a consultation?

hairymuffet · 14/06/2017 15:05

Another step along the way Smile

TwitterQueen1 · 14/06/2017 16:26

Leslie just a consult on Monday. I assume they will talk me through both ops.

The only op I've ever had was tonsil removal in 1966, quite a long time ago - that's discounting multiple baby tooth removal via gas procedures.

I was only 6 at the time but clearly remember feeling OUTRAGED and humiliated that someone stuck something up my bum without telling me why or what it was for.

I also remember being given jelly and ice cream afterwards and thinking what heaven.

Hopefully they won't give me a suppository in this way again... Wink they'd better bloody not. I might fancy the jelly and ice cream though.

I've had quite a few procedures and no suppositories so hopefully that won't happen again Shock

gonegrey56 · 14/06/2017 17:45

Glad you have a short break from chemo. If you are visiting the Churchill, do drop in to the Maggie's Centre next door (2 minute walk), I really recommend it, I think it would be a great support to you in so many ways . Thinking of you Flowers

nickyplustwo · 15/06/2017 15:42

Wishing you lots of luck for the laparoscopy - and for what that means for tumour shrinkage. I have horrible veins to cannulate and now have a port which is fabulous if they use them in your hospital. I had a picc line before that and they put it in under ultrasound guidance which makes finding decent veins much easier, so hopefully they can do that for you.
Also had a bit of pr (rectal) pain relief after the hysterectomy and the nurses will let you do it if you can reach (!) and warn you if not, so you shouldn't be blindsided by any of that action! All the best. x

Itscurtainsforyou · 15/06/2017 20:25

I had the camera through belly button a few years ago (to remove a large cyst) and no one put anything up my bottom (as far as I know!).

Hopefully you'll get a date on Monday and things will get moving.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts, you may not feel it but I think you're doing amazingly well.

happymumof4crazykids · 19/06/2017 16:42

Just read your whole thread and wanted to say how brace you are. Hope all is well and you had positive news when you saw the consultant Flowers

Back from the Churchill with an appt for the laparoscopy on Wednesday [gulp].

I did think it would be pretty quick because they obviously don't want me to have a long break from chemo, so this - and hopefully the hysterectomy - need to be done pdq. But it's still scary.

Bloods done, ecg done, weight & height recorded so I'm good to go...

Fingers crossed that it will be a positive outcome afterwards. They've made it clear that they won't operate if they don't feel they can get it all out because there's no point. The mass is also pressing on one of my kidney tubes apparently, though I don't notice anything.

I still haven't seen the second scan so I have no idea how big / small the mass is now - it was melon-sized. I don't care how big or small tbh, I just want it out.

Keep everything crossed for me please ladies. I will keep you posted.

I forgot to say thank you for all your thoughts and best wishes. It really does help to know there's an army of cancer soldiers on my side.

Glad it is happening soon and of course all fingers are crossed for you . We are here for you . You sound so brave and strong but you can lean on us .

BarchesterFlowers · 19/06/2017 17:22

Sounds like a day with a purpose. We all have everything crossed TQ, absolutely everything.

It is scary, but hopefully Wednesday will give you the news we all want to hear.

We are all behind you, a group of random strangers on the internet wake up and think of you, usually on a Wednesday but sometimes on a Monday, just to keep us on our toes Grin.

Flowers by the bucketload.

HmmOkay · 19/06/2017 17:25

I'm glad it went okay for now. Flowers

You have already been through so much - it must feel like it is neverending. Another hurdle over though. Roll on Wednesday.

hairymuffet · 19/06/2017 18:08

Great news.
Deep breath and shoulders back.
All the best for Wednesday x

LauraMipsum · 19/06/2017 18:22

Good luck!! Flowers

Itscurtainsforyou · 19/06/2017 21:41

Everything crossed for you TQ. The laparoscopy should be straightforward and hopefully they'll let you know soon after if they can operate at this stage (when I had mine for other reasons they came to talk to me in recovery when I was still woozy so I have very little memory of what they said - so they often don't waste time!)

Sending FlowersCake

ItsNachoCheese · 19/06/2017 22:39

Just read the thread and sending you lots of Flowers and hugs xxx

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 20/06/2017 11:00

Good news that they're moving quickly. Good luck tomorrow Star and hopefully they'll be able to whip the tumour out asap
