Hi
I'd be glad of any advice or personal experiences here. I am around 4 stone overweight, so definitely obese. Most of it is on my stomach though, which now looks like I'm 11 months pregnant with triplets. I'm in my 50s so this is not a possibility. It's very painful and I am short of breath when I walk etc.

I've put on a lot of weight in a short period - 10lbs in 2 months.

Six months ago I was bodyboarding in the sea, walking every day and doing an exercise class every week. Now it's a struggle to do anything.

I'm having bloods done on Friday but any ideas / comments? Am I just unlucky to pile it all on in one place?

Provocative content😂 so funny. I know some of you are fighting your own cancer battles so I am even more grateful to you for taking the time to help me come to terms with mine.
Words can't fully convey my gratitude.

Saucy kimonos in my house have ketchup dribbled down them. Sigh.

picklemepopcorn · 06/04/2017 11:37

I lurk and check in on you at intervals and am glad you are getting lots of support.

ALemonyPea · 06/04/2017 11:43

TQ Flowers

I must admit, I read your post when you first started it and thought it might have just been another diet thread, I'm really sorry that that was not the case.

I reread it last night when it popped up on active with the amended title. I'm in awe of how strong you come across.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming treatment and biopsies Flowers

wineandsunshine · 06/04/2017 12:29

Hi OP I've just sat at read your whole thread - I'm totally in awe too - you sound so strong.

Keep going and keep updating us all - I wish you all the best Flowers

Hang in there, it's tough going, but every day is a day done. Cake

witwootoodleoo · 06/04/2017 13:32

I now have images of the ward sister having to take you aside for a delicate conversation about your unduly provocative kimono Grin

The mind boggles as to what such a thing involves, but I'm guessing Debenhams wouldn't sell such a thing

SevenTillFour · 06/04/2017 14:47

So glad you got your WoollyHug TwitterQueen1

The Apostrophiser awaits you.
I'm sorry you have to be so strong , but you are bloody inspiring.

Valentine2 · 06/04/2017 15:57

I have read the whole thread and you are so strong TQ. Sorry I will call you this from now on because it is really edgy Grin. Is there a chance we could have a look at the said kimono? You have made me want one.

blamethecat · 06/04/2017 16:33

Tq, sending you my best wishes for your treatment and I hope you cope well with it. My DP was diagnosed with germ cell cancer around 18 months ago, his was also stage 3 (lungs and bones ) had very aggressive treatment, but responded well to it and is currently back working and having regular check ups (due one in less than two weeks). I don't think I can add any more to what other shave already said, be kind to yourself, ask for help/support if you need it and rant away when you need to, cancer is not fair, it is a horrible thing for anyone to go through. I will be thinking of you Flowers

TwitterQueen1 · 07/04/2017 16:31

Yay! I have a start date of 19th April for chemo. I feel so much better for having this - I'm looking at it as the day I start to get better (even though I know I'll probably feel crap at times).

I've had the stomach drain, the lung aspiration, the GFR kidney tests, the anti-sickness, the blood thinning, the blood samples, more blood samples... thankfully I believe I'm done.

Home again (bliss). No cashew or roquefort this time; lamb, cheesy broccoli, dauphinoise potatoes and I think I fancy some red Wine too.

Does codeine make anyone else feed sick? I was sick twice the last 2 days - both around the same time, and I'm wondering if it's the codeine...

Ah that's great news! You are definitely going to feel unwell at times but it looks like you are already strong enough to face that and you have the whole of Mumsnet to keep posting too from your bed too. It's great so many things have been done and there is a date to look forward to.
Lamb with cheesey veg is my favourite too. Hope you enjoy it and the effect of codeine didn't get in the way. Best thing would be to inform the doctors immediately about it so they could sort it out before 19th.
Keep posting here.

HmmOkay · 07/04/2017 16:42

You sound in much better spirits, TQ. Something concrete to focus on finally.

Thank God you're home. Take it very easy. Like horizontally easy.

Check that alcohol doesn't react to any tablets that you are taking. Enjoy your weekend at home. Wine

CiderwithBuda · 07/04/2017 17:10

Good news on chemo date. Completely understand that it signifies starting to get better.

Lamb, cheesy broccoli and dauphinois potatoes sounds amazing. That just might be our Easter Sunday meal now.

Wine on the menu here tonight too. Been good all week.

2017SoFarSoGood · 07/04/2017 17:39

Great update TQ. The beginning of the getting better - that's a great way to look ahead!

Eat, drink and celebrate. So happy for you. Flowers

Codeine makes me horribly sick. I have found I can tolerate it if I break it into quarters, and take one piece every 15 minutes or so. You do have to time it more though, since the time between doses needs to account for this. Worth a try though - the result is good pain control.

witwootoodleoo · 07/04/2017 18:25

Hurrah for chemo date.

Codeine makes me feel very sick and also very out of it. I don't get on with it at all. Have you tried taking it with a decent sized meal to see if that helps?

gonegrey56 · 07/04/2017 18:30

I am so pleased you are home, gosh you have been through the mill with all the tests
Codeine makes me nauseous, always take it with food if you can.
I hope the sunshine this weekend will lift your spirits . Good that you have a start date for treatment.

Fairybella · 07/04/2017 19:11

I've read your thread... whilst vaguely watching the children chuck their dinner around...

You are inspiring. I am so sorry you are going through this and sad to see about your puppy. It is nice you got to take it for its first walk. You sound amazing.

My dad faught cancer for a long ole time. He always told me how wonderful the nurses were to him... I hope they treat you the same way x

Patsy99 · 07/04/2017 19:51

Yup - another one who throws up on codeine after the first 24 hours. They should prescribe an alternative if you ask.

Your dinner sound lovely!
