Hope all is ok op

Ginkypig · 31/12/2016 11:49

Hi Bala I just wanted to say my fingers are crossed for you and dh.
Hope it's not serious and you both get home soon

GreatNorthern · 31/12/2016 11:51

Oh please.. RTFT.

The OP has said he's at A&E.

Do we need to keep going with all the personal scenarios of going or not going?

Anatidae · 31/12/2016 11:53

Stop the paracetamol!

It could be any one of a number of things, some not serious but some potentially life threatening , like glomerulonephiritis.

A and e is the right call on this one, hope he's ok.

flutterby77 · 31/12/2016 11:56

I'm sorry but this man's urine looks awful. This is not a GP job. Any bleeding like this needs urgent attention, My husband had kidney stones and his was like cherryade and the GP sent us straight to a &e for testing.

StarsandSparkles · 31/12/2016 12:02

Op i hope your dh is going to be okay and get the help he needs asap

NoDramaForTheLlama · 31/12/2016 12:02

"Where are all of these mythical walk in centres?"

--

Fortunately we are in a city which does have one and they can be useful where they exist. It is open 7 days a week, including weekends and even Christmas Day, from fairly early to fairly late, though not overnight/24 hours. There are both doctors and nurses available. It can be a very long wait though - 3+ hours is not uncommon. However we have used it before when it has been impossible to get a GP appointment at our own surgery, and out of hours (our surgery is closed two afternoons a week for example.)

We also have a walk in minor injuries unit, which now has X-ray machines. This is based at the local hospital - and ideally for many at the one most central. A&E for adults is further out. Again Minor Injuries is often a long wait, though not usually as bad as A&E. They can't treat all injuries though and won't deal with any form of head injury.

We then have a Children's A&E at the Children's Hospital, and adult A&E at the other big hospital.

We are really pretty well off with options.
However, I know many people are not and normal A&E is their only option often.

Mandatorymongoose · 31/12/2016 12:10

Hope you're both OK OP. I'm learning all sorts of interesting medical terms on here today.

EmmaGellerGreen · 31/12/2016 12:16

We have a walk in centre, fabulous but only open 10-4 Monday to Friday!

Kidnapped · 31/12/2016 12:19

Mouse, we are in Shropshire too.

Nearest walk-in to us is in Shrewsbury at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. 20 miles away.

Only other one in the county is Telford at the Princess Royal Hospital, I think, which is 35 miles away from us.

So, only 2 walk-ins, and they are both located in the only 2 major hospitals in the county with A and E facilities.

Just in case you ever need to know. Smile

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 31/12/2016 12:55

I'm quite shocked at the lack of walk in centres; I live in the middle of nowhere, but have two within a half hour drive (15 miles away - yes it takes 30 minutes to do 15 miles round here), with another 2 within a 45 minute drive. All have A&E's attached, although the 2 closest don't deal with anything major - I go to one of the 45 min drive ones for asthma.

NicknameUsed · 31/12/2016 13:08

We have 5 walk in centres within 12 miles of where we live, the nearest being 10.4 miles away. All of them are open today.

Isadora2007 · 31/12/2016 13:08

I'm following to get an update on the OPs DH. Hope he is getting appropriate medical care.

SecretWitch · 31/12/2016 13:10

Thinking about you and your dh, Op. You made the right choice Flowers

Wandastartup · 31/12/2016 13:19

That may be myoglobin not blood. You can get muscle breakdown with nasty bugs. It's definitely an emergency as can cause kidney problems.Hope he's been seen.

Wandastartup · 31/12/2016 13:22

PS I am medical

MrsRaegan · 31/12/2016 13:25

The man is peeing black ffs! Confused Definitely A&E today, where GP etc shut.

CherrySkull · 31/12/2016 13:26

eeek, the last time my pee was that colour i'd been screaming in agony for several hours with Renal Colic from trying to pass a kidney stone!

megletthesecond · 31/12/2016 13:28

Yes. OOH GP or a&e. And a bollocking for not dealing with it sooner. Something isn't right and personally I wouldn't let it wait until after the bank hols.

CherrySkull · 31/12/2016 13:29

the walk in at the PRH is pointless, you're better off phoning Shropdoc which is the local OOH and on the same site, it works similar to 111, but the phones are manned by actual nurses, not people reading from a script.

megletthesecond · 31/12/2016 13:29

stratters we're in a large town and our fantastic walk in centre was shut three years ago. A&E and the out of hours GP are now over run with patients.

NicknameUsed · 31/12/2016 13:31

If people can't be bothered to read the entire thread please at least read the OP's updates.

She took him to A and E at least 4 hours ago
