So glad you updated OP as I think people were getting quite worried (which is weird on a forum, I suppose, but I think once you hear someone isn't well you do tend to think of them and how they are doing no matter how well you know them). Am I reading it right that you are now even more worried? I think I would also worry as, as you say, this has been a long time thing and only now really showing bigger signs. IBS is very often diagnosed when there is something different at play. That's not to say he's seriously ill or anything, just maybe something that has needed treated years ago and has now gotten a bit out of control but hopefully his referral will be quick and not have you both worrying for long.

pklme · 04/01/2017 17:06

Glad you have an urgent referral.
He's caught a mixed bag, genetically, hasn't he! Good looking bit IBS, Coeliac and now something else. Perhaps they'll find something which will help the other areas too.

Good luck!

dailymaillazyjournos · 04/01/2017 17:29

Sorry, very late to this thread. Really hope referral can work out what's going on here. If they draw a blank I wonder if it would be worth him getting a camera check out of his bowel? DD was misdiagnosed with IBS for years before anyone thought to check her out. Main symptoms severe pain, bloody, mucusy diarrhea, loss of weight. She was at uni and kept fobbing her off with ibs caused by stress plus divorce of ME and ex. IBS should be diagnosis when everything else has been ruled out.

BalaRua · 04/01/2017 20:21

Hi, couple of years ago he had cameras both ends and nothing came back. He's having diarrhoea this evening and he doesn't know why. I'm worried he's going to become dehydrated and even more poorly! Plus our little one is still awful with his cold, think he might need GP tomorrow as he possibly has an ear infection. Meanwhile I also have a GP appt tomorrow for ongoing issues. Not a whole one between us.

You're having a tough time at the moment Flowers. I really hope all of you are well soon.

BalaRua · 04/01/2017 20:50

Thank you poppy Flowers

Glad GP took it seriously.

Seems like a pattern from what's written here I'd go to emergency, take tests, tests don't indicate immediate treatment required and insist seeing GP. Go then points out that yes there's an issue, it wasn't go home as nothing wrong - rather - nothing immediately requiring emergency treatment.

I was shocked by the story of being sent home with diabetes only to be referred back k straight after seeing GP.

Haggisfish · 04/01/2017 21:41

Gosh Bala, big empathetic hugs to you all.

dailymaillazyjournos · 04/01/2017 22:47

Another hug from me. I wonder why it is that there can't just be one crappy thing going on at one time and it seems to be that you end up fire-fighting multiple issues at once. It's rubbish. I hope you all are soon much better.

EggnoggAndMulledWine · 04/01/2017 23:13

Just read all your posts, how worrying. Hope it's all resolved very quickly and nothing too serious.

Princesspink999 · 04/01/2017 23:45

I note you say he doesn't eat wheat but does he exclude all gluten? With other family members coeliac I think it's worth it particularly if doesn't want the blood test.

BalaRua · 05/01/2017 07:34

Thanks for the hugs! Yes he excludes all gluten.

Late to the thread but been keeping an eye on it. Hope he gets some answers soon and that you all start recovering swiftly

Namejustfornappies · 05/01/2017 10:28

How is he today? X

BalaRua · 05/01/2017 10:41

Still has the protein and blood in the urine. I forgot if I mentioned upthread but he refuses to take the antibiotics because there was no growth on the urine culture so he doesn't see a point. Plus our own dipsticks show no infection markers. He's ringing up to see where his referral is up to. Thank you for asking!

What a bad run you're having. Not helped by your DH's stubbornness though. Hope things turn around soon!

This is all so worrying for you.
I really hope everything is OK soon.
Good luck with referral and results!

BalaRua · 05/01/2017 11:49

Thank you. Right, his urology appointment is a week today!

OP posts:
Namejustfornappies · 05/01/2017 11:53

That's still quite a long time to wait....

FeralBeryl · 05/01/2017 12:08

Bala the algorithm is there for a reason, please tell him if he doesn't take the antibiotics-he will only slow down any further treatment AND investigations the Urology team want to do (cystoscopies etc) Blood in urine masks all kinds on micro.
Hope he's feeling a bit brighter Flowers

BalaRua · 05/01/2017 12:11

Thank you! I've told him but no chance he's going to take them.

OP posts:
FeralBeryl · 05/01/2017 12:35

🙈 slap his legs from me!
It's so frustrating to want to be able to investigate things, but when the 1st step has been omitted, it's back to square one.
Just warn him he may well be sent back away next week to complete a course anyway, see if that helps...

GloriaGaynor · 05/01/2017 13:11

You should tell him that, while it may not the case for him, you can actually have a kidney infection with a clear uti test, for example. I know because I've had one.

The doctors need to rule stuff out as much as to rule stuff in. If I were him I would just follow the process.

giraffesCantReachTheirToes · 05/01/2017 13:24

Thinking of you op. So sorry you've had to deal with such arse holes on here.
