DH was weeing red yesterday and this is his wee this morning. He has a cold and has been taking lemsip. He's definitely had a temperature although no thermometer to check. Would this warrant a and e given the day/date? Thanks

Great news about the blood tests, Bala but I'm sorry to hear about your toddler Sad. Let's hope the New Year brings some improvement. Flowers

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:33

I'm really annoyed thinking about it: the man should've been given fluids. They thankfully ruled out rhabdo but that surely isn't right. I'll attach another picture to this comment. I'm very surprised he was sent away like this.

Oh no op, what a worrying time for you. Hope your dh feels better soon and don't hesitate to seek a second opinion if he gets any worse tonight or tomorrow.

MountainPeaks · 31/12/2016 21:34

bala did they not tell you what it was? Medicaiton?

THat second one looks less fizzy.

MountainPeaks · 31/12/2016 21:35

Just wondering if you have another hospital near you you could go to if he gets worse? Or if they advised coming back to them if he gets worse?

MsHooliesCardigan · 31/12/2016 21:35

Bala Sorry you're having such a worrying time. Hope things get better for your DH and toddler. Happy new year 🍾

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:35

He works at the hospital and knew it wasn't right but decided not to tell me about it til after toddler was in bed last night. And no, not black currant lemsip Grin

Pleased he's all right Bala

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:37

Sorry I'm just catching up with comments (obviously), there's no signal at our hospital and I ran out of charge as well. They couldn't say what it was or give him anything medication wise or even advice to stop it.

I am gob smacked personally that they have sent you away when his urine looks like that. I too have only seen that with my dad when he was very ill.

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:42

Second sample was poured from one of the little cardboard receivers into the specimen pot as opposed to going into the glass at full pelt, as in the original photo (he peed in the glass to have ax look at the wee undiluted by toilet water!) which might explain the lack of, erm, fizz? in the second photo.

Bala So they just gave no explanation but said see your GP on Tuesday? Does he have a booked GP appointment?

Has he been travelling recently?

MozzchopsThirty · 31/12/2016 21:45

Wow you have too see your GP

Funny that Hmm

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:47

No travelling. He will book in asap on Tuesday. Mozz, it must be brilliant knowing everything. Any idea on next weeks lotto numbers?

CountryLovingGirl · 31/12/2016 21:49

I would see a GP not A&E. He needs to stop taking the Lemsip immediately as they are they probable cause.

user1482961279 · 31/12/2016 21:49

I agree, could be a urinary infection but needs checking out urgently.

addstudentdinners2 · 31/12/2016 21:49

Country ffs read the full thread!

BalaRua · 31/12/2016 21:52

Obviously they've found nothing acute today which has inspired worry that its something more chronic and sinister Sad poor DH

MozzchopsThirty · 31/12/2016 21:53

I'll pm them to you

GloriaGaynor · 31/12/2016 21:53

I'd assume a kidney infection was ruled out. Was glomerulonephritis also ruled out? It can be triggered by a throat infection.

Cola coloured pee is typical. Does he have protein in his urine as well as blood? Is his blood pressure normal?

You might order some urine test sticks on Amazon prime tonight, so you can test his urine yourselves.

zoemaguire · 31/12/2016 21:54

Don't hesitate to go back in if he gets worse or doesn't improve. Numerous qualified medical professionals on this thread have told you that A&E is absolutely an appropriate place to go.

clementineorange · 31/12/2016 21:56

Gloria are you an online medical doctor now? FFS I am sure the hospital did all the tests they could.

Thinking of you OP Flowers

Badcat666 · 31/12/2016 21:56

Oh up yours Mozz Not everything can be diagnosed from a few blood tests.

Hope you actually GET a GPs appointment tomorrow OP, trying to get one at mine is like trying to find the holy grail by sticking pins into a map.

Also.. who's bloody GP surgery is open on a weekend? Cos mine never are. (and I looked up my nearest walk in centre and lo... it's in an actual hospital!)

AwaywiththePixies27 · 31/12/2016 21:56

This is quickly turning into a 'cash the cheque' type thread isn't it! Grin

MountainPeaks · 31/12/2016 21:56

Bala ignore Mozz. Honestly, I'd be scared shitless if I was in your situation too. A and E was absolutely the right place to go (they tell you to your face if they don't think you should be there).
