DH was weeing red yesterday and this is his wee this morning. He has a cold and has been taking lemsip. He's definitely had a temperature although no thermometer to check. Would this warrant a and e given the day/date? Thanks

Icantstopeatinglol · 31/12/2016 16:54

Hope your dh is ok op, you've definitely done the right thing Flowers

UnbornMortificadoAtChristmas · 31/12/2016 16:54

DH once went to urgent care one night with a massively swollen testicle. There was no GP so he came back the next morning.

He got wrong off the doctor for not going to a+e the night before. It turned out to be an infection in the tubes, we were told problems down below (not sure urine colour is included) in men in particular could turn seriously quickly.

I would of said A+E for that although I'm not medically trained. I'm guessing since op's husband been seen so quickly it was the right course of action.

TheHobbitMum · 31/12/2016 16:55

I hope DH is OK OP, you did right to get seen quickly

MazzR · 31/12/2016 16:57

Hope all is ok

passmethewineplease · 31/12/2016 17:05

Hope all is ok.

Just to try and put your mind at ease, I had wee this colour last year and it turned out there was a big stone in my kidney trying escape.

I was hospitalised with it so they obviously deemed it necessary to be there.

Hope it's nothing serious.

zoemaguire · 31/12/2016 17:16

"If he's not heavy bleeding, unconscious, signs of a stroke then it's not A&E as a first call"

ShockShock NHS A&E education is seriously failing if there are people out there who seriously think this. Bluntly, you risk letting yourself or somebody close to you die.

More to the point, if you don't have medical knowledge, and in case of doubt, wtf would you tell somebody on a thread like this not to go to A&E? Surely the safest option is to keep your mouth shut?! I refer you back to the OP the other week who almost died from sepsis on the way to hospital in an ambulance. Predictably and depressingly, somebody on her thread had berated her for not getting a taxi there.

I almost wish MN would ban these threads. IF YOUR GUT TELLS YOU SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG AND YOU NEED TO GO TO A&E, THEN GO!!!!! Don't wait for a bunch of fucking fools on the internet with a single-figure set of brain cells to their name to tell you not to.

PhillipaFast · 31/12/2016 17:18

Yes I would and I'm glad you did. Hope your dh is receiving treatment! FWIW when my wee went a funny colour I had a potentially life threatening condition (which clearly I recovered fine from!) so I wouldn't muck about with waiting and seeing, you did the right thing.

Mummyoftwo91 · 31/12/2016 17:23

SauvignonBlanche · 31/12/2016 17:23

That looks grim, hope all is well. Flowers

Slothlikesundays · 31/12/2016 17:35

Urine that looks like coke is a sign of liver failure. I would definately go to a&e with this

Celaena · 31/12/2016 17:37

I think it was clear that posters was giving a flavour of the type of injury you go to A&E for and not listing every possible scenario. She said all about 4 times

MozzchopsThirty · 31/12/2016 17:51

Oh for goodness sake of course there are more than 3 things to go to A&E with
As I've said (more than once) it would be pointless to list them all.

There are plenty of posters on here complaining that their nearest walk in is a 20 mile journey and therein lies the problem

It's about using the appropriate or available service.
If the OP has no walk in or out of hours service then of course it's appropriate to go to A&E as the next GP available would be Tuesday and I would NOT leave that urine for 4 days.
However if OOH or walk in is available it is far more appropriate to use that first.

I could walk to my nearest A&E but the OOH GP is across the other side of the city, this does not mean I should use A&E due to its proximity to my house. Unless I have an accident, heart attack, heavy bleeding, stroke (insert other suitable condition here so as not to stone me for missing one out)

Chickydoo · 31/12/2016 17:52

Hope he is OK op
