You made the right call OP!

The only time I've seen urine that colour(I've seen it a few times now in different people)and it was severe kidney stones and those people were admitted to hospital!

I hope your poor DH is okay and he's getting what ever treatment he needs.

We don't have walk in centres in Scotland.

Wolverbamptonwanderer · 31/12/2016 15:48

Goodness OP hope he's getting treatment

PleaseNoMoreMinecraft · 31/12/2016 15:53

I've worked in NHS labs for about 25 years and seen hundreds of thousands of urines (yes, I know). We do get a few urines every day like that, but they're usually associated with some kind of kidney problem - stones, kidney failure, tumours seem to be common causes. Beetroot is pinker, we see that too.

I hope your DH is OK. I hope you've treated it as an emergency and gone straight into A+E to get it seen to. Don't bother with a walk in center, they won't have the facilities you need for this. I'm the first to say people shouldn't go for a split toenail or a cold, but this kind of thing is what A+E is meant for. Flowers

8misskitty8 · 31/12/2016 15:55

Hope your DH is being attended to OP. Going to a&e was the right thing to do. Have never see pee this colour !
This is a Saturday, no way would I have left peeing that colour to Monday to see a gp. People always seem to post, go to out of hours. Not every area has them.
There is a clinic that deals with minor things ( like tonsilitis) which is in the next town but you can only get an appointment after calling nhs24 or whatever it is now. You then have to wait hours for them to call you back and if you are lucky this clinic might see you.
You don't mess around waiting if your pee is this colour. Could potentially be a kidney issue which is very serious.

GissASquizz · 31/12/2016 15:59

Hope he's soon on the mend.

Passmethecrisps · 31/12/2016 16:01

Am sitting in an out of hours gp/minor injuries clinic in central Scotland.

It is heaving. You would think it was the Hogmanay meeting point.

Some of us have appointments through NHS 24 and others have dropped in.

Passmethecrisps · 31/12/2016 16:02

Sorry and should have said I hope op's dh is in the mend soon. I have never seen wee like that in my life!

UnbornMortificadoAtChristmas · 31/12/2016 16:03

Jesus Christ. Hope he's ok op. I'll admit I had to reread your post I thought you'd attached the wrong photo.

Wolverbamptonwanderer · 31/12/2016 16:11

All areas have an out of hours solution though, even if that isn't specifically a walk in centre. It might be a health centre with a GP on duty or a minor injuries unit. You access it by calling 111. I think it's disingenuous to pretend there are areas where on simply has to go to A&E for OOH medical treatment

buddhasbelly · 31/12/2016 16:12

hope all is ok OP, thinking of you and your DH

Bravas · 31/12/2016 16:15

Gosh I hope your dh is ok op.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 31/12/2016 16:16

Ever since I read that the OPs DH had been triaged swiftly, I skimmed the rest of the the thread looking for an update. I really he is OK and being treated Bala.

I had renal colic and a suspected stone, and multiple kidney infections over the years - but I ain't never peed anything THAT colour.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 31/12/2016 16:16

Has OP not been back? I hope everything is OK.

Herschellmum · 31/12/2016 16:19

Hope all is ok OP?

RubyGoat · 31/12/2016 16:19

Hope he's ok & you get home soon with some medicine (presumably) to sort things out.

BakeOffBiscuits · 31/12/2016 16:21

Hope all is well, I for one woudl have gone to A&E with those symptoms.

I think you are right taking him to A&E, a family member has a condition called PNH (paroxysmal nocturnal haematuria) and his urine is this colour when he's about to start with an episode. This is how he was initially diagnosed (after going down the liver route etc etc). Could be as simple as the start of an infection and/or dehydration but it I still not normal! Hope all is ok

Thinkingblonde · 31/12/2016 16:34

I peed bright red urine due to a kidney stone that got stuck.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 31/12/2016 16:38

Thank you to whoever posted the link to (England) walk in centres.

Bookmarked for future reference

FurryLittleTwerp · 31/12/2016 16:38

The best thing would to have seen a GP ASAP in an emergency appointment & for the GP to have arranged admission directly to the relevant department (Urology), rather than going to A&E.

Obviously GP not available to OP's DH today, so A&E is a reasonable alternative.

Aridane · 31/12/2016 16:41

WishinfnOP and DH well - not the greatest way to see out 2016

desertmum · 31/12/2016 16:42

I had wee like that earlier this year - it was caused by e-coli = antibiotics sorted it. Hope your DH is OK.
