Hi everyone, we are making one change a month here and checking in daily. Some of us are on our third month, my goals are
(1) a walking target - 8k steps
(2) a diet target - 7 fruit and veg a day
(3) !NEW! - 10 mins yoga a day
Regulars please recap your goals, lurkers, now is the perfect time to join us with whatever goal you think will make a difference for you.

Prosecco oh dear I'm not setting a very good example on this thread am I? ShockGrin

And the irony about your sleep goal, I'm awake at daft o'clock currently unable to get back to sleep. I rarely reach for my phone in the night as that is no way to drop back off again.

Stellar67 · 06/12/2016 06:36

May I join? I do around 9k steps a day and try to do yoga, but my fruit and veg intake needs a boost. I seem to have shifted onto stodge because it's cold and dark.

AliceInHinterland · 06/12/2016 09:24

Hi Stellar! We all made one change at a time, for one month. It really helped me to focus, so feel free to start with just one of those.
Yesterday was better than expected, 2/3

  • Yoga + veg on track
  • 7.7k steps so not too far off
Chocolate is also a staple in my diet, I have really found bumping up the healthy stuff has made a difference to my skin and mood though without cutting out the rubbish.

Thanks Alice, it is much simpler to do things in small increments. Develop good habits. It's not so easy to do in practice. I think the support will make things easier. Smile
I've made a huge salad for lunch, and going to eat lots of satsumas later.

AliceInHinterland · 06/12/2016 22:34

I found that by committing to one thing it cleared my mind of my usual perfectionist tendency to tackle everything at once. I've had ups and downs but I feel as if I'm really establishing new habits and getting insights where I don't hit my target.
Today was good, 12k steps, 7 fruit and veg, 10 minutes yoga - keeping me sane during a difficult period!
How is everyone else this evening.

MoreProseccoNow · 06/12/2016 22:47

Evening! I'm at 10.5K steps today & a weekly average of 11K, so I'm really pleased. Finding it tough to fit in the walking in such short days, and with work, young kids & life in general.

Diet-wise: oh dear! It's DS's birthday & lots of cake & pizza have been eaten. Will have a good day tomorrow it couldn't be any worse than today.

AliceInHinterland · 06/12/2016 22:52

Well done on the walking, it's so hard in winter. We've got to show our kids that it's okay to kick back and relax - what else are birthdays for?

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 07/12/2016 18:23

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I met all targets for steps, bike & fruit/veg.

Today I've not yet walked the dog & I'm on 10,500 already. Not sure what to have for dinner as very tired. So do vegetable crisps count? (you know the beetroot, parsnip & sweet potato ones?) I suspect not. Wink

AliceInHinterland · 07/12/2016 21:22

I'm counting a chocolate orange in my seven a day - so I say yes!
Only 5k steps today, but even without the help of my confectionary friend I'll hit the fruit and veg target. Yoga is still to go but I have no excuses not to squeeze that in.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 07/12/2016 21:33

Steps & 6 fruit/veg -we had a huge salad in the end. Still to do the bike, but I'm happy to do that before bed (bike is in the spare room).

Are you getting the choc oranges for a £1 and if so where please Alice ?
You're really getting into the 7 a day, well done.

AliceInHinterland · 07/12/2016 21:50

I am still cutting up a pile of veg and working my way through it during the day. The chocolate orange was bought by DP at my request so I'm not sure how much it was - if I see any cheapies I'll let you know although I'm not sure it's quite in the spirit of this thread! Maybe a broader MN appeal is required?

Blush
AliceInHinterland · 07/12/2016 23:07

Who am I kidding? Chocolate is the spirit of this thread! Smile At least no one has threatened to give it up yet. I would be supportive, but...

Stellar67 · 08/12/2016 20:17

Are chocolate oranges a fruit?
I'm making mulled wine on Saturday, with clementines and limes. Can I count those!
I've met my targets so far. Even out for lunch today and chose melon starter with port sorbet.

MoreProseccoNow · 08/12/2016 21:00

Good work, people! I'm on 10.5K steps today, managed to walk at lunchtime yesterday at work yesterday too, so my weekly average is 10.5K steps.

It's my work Christmas night out tomorrow, there will be lots of food & drink........

AliceInHinterland · 09/12/2016 07:14

Think of all of the antioxidants in that mulled wine too! Yesterday was a bit of a write off for me. We'll done Prosecco I know you find work days a challenge.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 09/12/2016 18:10

Melon with port sounds just the job Stellar. Keep up the good work Prosecco. I did steps and bike yesterday, 4 vegetables.

Currently on 7.5k steps but out for a few hours tonight with dh so I I'll probably hit my target on walking. Is there a gin target Alice? Wink

MollyHuaCha · 09/12/2016 19:01

Well done everyone. (I'm still giggling over the chocolate orange...) My daily stretching is going well. And I've swum twice this week so far too. Happy healthy weekend to you all!

AliceInHinterland · 09/12/2016 22:29

I hope you've had a lovely night out Prosecco! You deserve it after all those steps.
We can have whatever targets we like Told. Maybe we should have a Christmas special daily treat target (gin/chocolate allowed).
I have only done 5.5k steps (okayish) 5 f&v (pretty good) and a last minute yoga session (proud of that one). My treat today was buying the Xmas tree! She's a beaut.

OP posts:
AliceInHinterland · 09/12/2016 22:30

Happy weekend to you too Molly - I hope I can stay on the straight and narrow!

OP posts:
AliceInHinterland · 10/12/2016 21:37

Good day today - 13k steps, 7 F&V and 12 min yoga.
Treat was the new Jamie Oliver Christmas cook book.
How is everyone doing out there?

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 10/12/2016 22:29

I did my steps yesterday but today I'm on 8k steps only Alice. I started out on a dog walk and returned pretty smart ish when the heavens opened. So it's a failure for me today. But you've done brilliantly.

Tomorrow is another day.

AliceInHinterland · 10/12/2016 22:47

I don't count 8k as a failure! That was my target last month, and it's once in a blue moon for you told. I bet the dog was miffed though!

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 10/12/2016 22:51

She doesn't like walking in the rain so was quite happy to come back. She chased around like a crazy dog when we returned because she'd got wet. I love seeing her do that.Smile

AliceInHinterland · 12/12/2016 08:08

Yesterday was rubbish, for both me and the dog! 4.3k steps, probably one F&V and no yoga. It's party season though and we were rushing around all day then straight to bed - we had fun though so that's the main thing.
