I have had it over 3 months and have booked doctors for next Friday. It is above my right collarbone, the swelling is soft and inside it is a movable long thin lump. It does not hurt at all and I haven't had any infections or bites etc. It does not bother me except it hasn't always been there so o worry about things like lymphoma. I know that apparently cancer lumps are usually hard and immobile so it's probably a lymph node....Has anyone had anything like this at all or any doctors with ideas please? I keep swinging between thinking I'm over reacting and then thinking I should rush to the doctors. In case you can't notice it, it's on the left in the picture but actually on my right. The redness is my terrible British tan Blush

Thank you ladies, it’s the worry of doctors I have anxiety with healthcare settings at the moment and jsut been put on medication for it. I could possibly force the Gp appointment but blood test petrified me at the moment, and logically I know they will want to do that!
thank you for your replies

Looks like a supraclavicular fat pad. Get your cortisol tested

This is mine which is on the left side.

Chest X ray didn’t show anything so now being sent for an MRI scan of neck and thorax. It will take 80 minutes and I have to lie still for that long.

SophieJo · 13/03/2023 18:38

Well I got the results today and it is just a lump of fatty tissue. No sign of lesions in my neck or chest which is a relief.

Angieohio1 · 13/03/2023 22:17

This is wonderful! Thank you for writing the outcome, it eases my anxiety a bit.

DonnaBab · 13/03/2023 22:24

@SophieJo that’s good news. 😊😊

I have the same thing. I have had it "off and on" since 2015. I am 68 years old and have osteoarthritis in my spine. I had an MRI done when it first appeared. Doctor told me I had two discs in my neck that were moving closer together and pinching the nerves in my neck. I actually lost range of motion a bit for awhile and had really bad pain when this first started. AFter I took some muscle relaxants, the swelling went away. It took a few months or so. Then, recently, I pinched a nerve in my neck again, and the swelling re-appeared. I believe it's due to a bone spur or the osteoarthritis. Unfortunately, I believe the degenerative disc disease in my spine has gotten worse; however, when I do stretching exercises for my neck, it seems to help. Hope this information helps.

@debbieculley11 this is really interesting, I have terrible issues with my neck and often feel pain in my arms as a result, numbness, tingling. Doctors referred me to physio. It come and goes, the pain that is. Swelling or fat pads are still there, but this is definitely worth noting. Thank you.

Nat9880 · 19/06/2023 16:11

Did you find out what it was?

PurpleRayne89 · 19/06/2023 16:23

@Nat9880 i think mine is related to weight gain and forward head posture which I’m beginning to work on.

MariaMagdalene · 15/08/2023 12:49

I have the same on both sides. It gets bigger if I’m tired. I developed this after adrenal fatigue and autoimmune issues plus reactivation of EBV. It never went away. Doctors don’t have a clue. I got CT scans and MRIs done.

I was just about to reply cushing's. With cushing's you tend to get supraclavicular fat pads. Get your cortisol tested.

MariaMagdalene · 15/08/2023 17:26

I have checked my cortisol, doctors don't find anything.

MariaMagdalene · 15/08/2023 17:29

They get bigger when I am tired, and they showed up after my chronic fatigue collapse, that's why I don't think it is fat but who knows.

Ann444 · 15/08/2023 20:39

Excess progesterone can cause swelling too.

PurpleRayne89 · 15/08/2023 22:08

@MariaMagdalene whats your posture like?

Novasteve · 15/08/2023 23:45

My doctor thinks mine probably is a lipoma. I was scared to death when I discovered it but two years later I’m still alive .

DonnaBab · 16/08/2023 10:55

I’ve still got mine, on both sides. Right side smaller than the left. It’s so annoying more because of how it makes me feel. I get funny about have my neck on show, I also find I’m always looking at other women’s necks to see if others have it. Doctor said lipoma, I say fat pads 😂

essnunez · 23/08/2023 07:54

Hi all - waking up this morning and I have this on both sides just above my collar bone. I will book a GP appointment today to have it checked. I had my half of my thyroid removed about 6 mos ago due to cancer and started to go to gym last week (as I had to pause on my regular swimming sessions). I dont know if they are all connected but we will see! fingers crossed

MariaMagdalene · 23/08/2023 12:04

I have Hashimoto’s and these swelling showed up after being very sick . I think it could be related to the lymphatic system.

essnunez · 24/08/2023 07:36

False alarm for me - went to see the GP and told me its only muscle strain so took pain relievers and had it on ice packs every couple of hours. Looks like its slightly getting smaller but will take few days to heal.

Absolutelynotfor2019 · 24/08/2023 11:26

I have these fatty lumps on both sides of my neck just above clavicle. Saw GP years ago and he very kindly told me it was because I am overweight 🤦‍♀️
Seeing this thread has now made me wonder if the tingling I get in fingers when lying in bed is because the fat is pressing on nerve going down my arm ,depending on which side I am lying on !

littlelinda52 · 08/09/2023 05:33

I have had those lumps for years they come and go. I was told once it was from fluid in my ears. I just had a physical and my doctor didn't sat anything. I am constantly have blood work done because of a kidney transplant and everything looks good. I always feel that when I get these lumps my ears feel more wet and clogged then normal. Do your ears bother you?

SophieJo · 08/09/2023 19:25

My lump never caused me any pain at all. Just knew it was there and it still is. Thanks to the NHS I have had endless scans, MRI and tests. It turns out to be, a fatty lump.
