lou33 · 09/04/2007 17:06

i know, i havent smoked

i bet my asthma would get better if i started again tho, damn thing only came on when i gave up!

monkeytrousers · 09/04/2007 17:10

I have my inhalators and binged on malbrough lites on my birthday two days ago and am heartily sick of them.

I stopped smoking six years ago but since having the odd one socially from last september I've began craving them nights I'm the opposite of social.

charliecat · 09/04/2007 17:13

Monkey trousers, good choice!!!!!

imaginaryfriend · 09/04/2007 17:19

godlaming, lou? Where the heck is that? It sounds made up ... Thanks for the offer of help. Same for you with the Thailand situation ...

custy, sorry to 'gang up' but I agree with cc, the social smoking is a disasterous route. I don't know anybody who has ever managed just social smoking. Except dp actually who has never had to quit because he's never been addicted. Whenever he has a big stress on he buys a pack of ten, smokes for 2 days or so then that's it. And if he goes out for a drink with someone who smokes he'll have a couple and that's it. In the 11 years I've known him it's never escalated. Thoroughly infuriating.

lou, quitting smoking does make asthma worse. Smoking anaesthetises the tiny hairs that line the lungs and therefore paralyses the cough reflex which is over-active in asthmatics.

BUT as a GP said to me, years ago I'm ashamed to say, at some point if you're asthmatic and you smoke, it will creep up on you and your lungs will develop serious lung disease of some form. I'm worried that's now for me.

I love her school by the way. I just imagine it's totally the opposite to a 'village' school.

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 09/04/2007 17:41

Dp's dream for dd is a school that looks like yours lou!

Can I recommend The Voice of Tobacco by
Richard Craze, through www.Whiteladderpress.com

lou33 · 09/04/2007 17:45

ds2's school is more of a 70's style building, but i love the way they work there, the head is fabulous

i prefer her to the one who took over at my local one half way through my kids attending
