**OUCH! BITTEN NIPPS THAT SWELL UP?***

VoodooBanana · 15/11/2006 13:56

Good lordie, dd had a cold which got her so frustrated as she couldnt breathe to feed that she chomped on my poor nipp, which has now swelled up into a weird white bump/blister thing and is agony to feed from.

She did it a few weeks ago to the same one, and a blood blister appeared at the tip, which disappeared after a few days of very very careful feeds.

But when I feed her she gets distracted by the slightest noise, eg me sneezing, dh coughing on other side of room, and whips her head round while still attatched. Apart from feeding her in a soundproofed box how the heck do I stop her?

She also tugs very hard on the left one, but is an angel on the right?

Any ideas?????????????
ps she is 4.5mths and I am stopping bf at xmas probably...if I can put up with this pain till then!
tar for your help

i thought i was going to get a quiet night byt ds1 just ran down the stairs to tell me his tooth had fell out, hes been working on it for days. i told him he will have to leave it out tomorrow night as its too late for the tooth fairy to know for tonight. (i dont have any change and im not giving him a ten pound note!!)

oh, his school play was still abit christmassy, they did lots of countries and sang some of their traditional songs for xmas. he wanted to be a cowboy and do the line dancing though that they did for the usa.

ds2 has his last inj tomorrow morning, im not sure if they will do it though as he has a cold?? will ring in the morning and check

VoodooKumquat · 13/12/2006 15:36

yeah dd had her last inj on Tues, the second pnemoccocal meningitis one.
I repeated the pg test and hooray I was neg.

I told the nurse I was off back home for a stiff drink, she looked a bit worried, maybe because it was only 1130am, and I had a dd to look after...

nearly done all my xmas shopping AND wrapped it up. (smug emoticon)!!!!
excellent. we also qualify for Manchester council's free cavity wall and loft insulation program, they are doing it to reduce wasted energy to save the earth. whatever, it saves us over £200!!!! and cheaper heating bills too, can't be bad.

family dramatics have started...just found out my sis has fallen out with her MIL-to-be (she gets married in Jan...) as they are both very stubborn this could be an interesting xmas...

love to y'all xxx

VoodooKumquat · 13/12/2006 15:38

ooooh Worley, scarey with that prostitute serial killer living quite near you!!!!!!!!!!!!

worleywinterwonderland · 13/12/2006 16:32

it is a bit scary , i trained in ipswich for 3 year and there were always girls getting attacked around that area. im glad i didnt live there, i just travelled the 50 miles every bloody day!!

i also have most of my presents wrapped and hid at my parents house. i dont like that tescos advert giving the game away, the one with the boy searching the house for pressies. my ds1 is 8 and still believes.

they didnt do his inj today , i have to wait till 12th jan till the next free appt !!!!!!!!!!!

Macdog · 13/12/2006 17:28

Hello from sunny Scotland !!
That whole serial killer thing is seriously frightening. Seems every time I turn on the news, there is another new development.

Glad you got the result you wanted Voods

Can't believe that you can't get an appt till Jan for the vacc, Worley! I thought our surgery was bad, but instant compared to that!
dd thrilled it's time to walk the dog !!!!

Love n' hugs to all, x

VoodooKumquat · 13/12/2006 19:52

Macdog!!!

Currently my parents are staying with friends in Tyndrum, they have a burn flowing at the end of their garden,.mum says it sounds like Niagara falls and they are quite close to being flooded! Already to get down to Manc on friday they have to take a diversion through Stirling as the road by the 'Glenside loch' I think Its called as partially collapsed due to water!!!!
Wear your wee wellies to bed, hen!!!!

also, can you help?
Have you been to Edinburgh recently? I visited last year and went down a street off Princes road, and there was a row of Really cool shops, one sold loads of excellent pressies, ie. cool bags made of recycled drinks cartons (sounds weird but v.cool) and cute funky makeup bags etc, I cant remember what its called, only that they gave me an orange and purple carrier bag...I have googled and googled it to death, cant find anything. Any idea? Or is there a site you can ask Edinburgh people? Ill try and set a thread up on MN too???
Big X

worleywinterwonderland · 13/12/2006 21:10

i wanted to share my tooth story, last night we put the tooth in a glass at the back of the cuboard, anyway, as ds2 has his cold he woke at 2, crying and wouldnt settle so i dosed him up on calpol again but he didn't fall asleep until gone 4, so i was knackered and had been sending regular text updates to my dp as hes on nights.
so when dp got home at 7.30 he let me sleep in and he got ds1 ready for school and took him. when i got downsatirs later on i noticed the glass i had put ds1 tooth in on the table, with a little bit of juice still in it!!!
i said to dp, please tell me you took the tooth out of the glass before you gave it to him? but he hadnt and my poor ds1 must have drank it.

i dont know how he didnt notice a tooth in his drink, it was only a little incisor.
so this evening he has gone to bed crying as he didint have his tooth to put under his pillow. i've told him to write a letter to the tooth fairy tomorrow explaining, but he cant sleep as he is too sad and keeps thinking about it!!

oh dear oh dear oh dear. even thinking of xmas didint cheer him up!!

worleywinterwonderland · 13/12/2006 21:16

voodoos, how old exactly is your dd. my ds2 was born on 30th june. he still doesnt roll over, he did a couple of time about a month ago and not done it scince, i think even when he did it he didnt realise what he had done!
does your dd roll over, i thought that they would be trying to sit by now also.

he will eat anything given to him though, well except for butternut squash which he hated and clamps his mouth shut if wafted near him.

i now he will do these things eventually. just wondering if he is a little behind or not.

Macdog · 14/12/2006 08:08

Sorry Voods. Don't go to Edinburgh much.
Last time we went was 3 years ago and we got very, very drunk in Rose Street !!!!!!!!!

Worley, my dd rolled over for first time at about 3 months. She then took a break until about 5 months.
She crawled first at about 7months, then managed to sit up at about 9months.
Don't worry, they all get there at different rates.
My dd (10 months) now determined to be walking by Christmas
She is also cutting a back tooth.
Apparently wants all her teeth for Christmas!

Oh well, back to the sleepless nights

VoodooKumquat · 14/12/2006 15:10

my dd was born 22 June, she doesnt roll but Ive seen her sit up alone for 5seconds, then I have to catch her. I bought this great thing off eBay, a blow up tyre covered in exciting jungle print material that she sits inside, and if she falls over it bounces her back up again, genius. I paid £4.20 for it, well worth the cash.

Macdog....you, drunk in Edinburgh!! Never.

She has started quietly squealing when she is pleased, and after I fed her last night she did it on and off for 3 hours, we kept giggling at her, I think it encouraged her to keep doing it...

She eats quite easily, anything that I give her, but sometimes only enthusiastically the first time, then its like she is bored of the taste or something, an adrenaline junkie!!!!!!!
Dont worry Worley, he will suddenly do everything and take you by surprise.
I cant wait till she can sit on her own...

How many other kids do you both have and what ages, and when is the best time to have a second baby? I think I will wait till dd is over two, so we can save up some more money...

worleywinterwonderland · 14/12/2006 20:51

i have another son who turned 8 on 30th nov.
we werent really planning to have ds2, so it was quite a shock when i found out. i kept telling everyone maybe in a few more years we would have another one, but never really meant it, it was just to shut them up!! (all my cousins have 3 kids each and as i was only 21 when i had ds1 i felt too young still)

i also had eclampisa with ds1 so that really put me off as i was so ill. i had pre-eclamspia with ds2 and was petrified i was going to die!! but i survived so im still here

worleywinterwonderland · 14/12/2006 20:57

i have one of those rings from ds1, but its in the loft and i cannot find it.... . i cant seem to find most of the old baby toys. we have moved house 3 times so there probably lost somewhere.

i solved the tooth problem, i got one of his old teeth that i had saved ( my dp thinks its digsusting that i save them!!) and hid it in a differnt cup and sort of "found" it this evening, so hes very happy again, no more tears.

in a way i wish i had had ds2 earlier, but was too scared i think. but then again, i dont have no jealousy problems and ds1 loves ds2 so much, he reads to him and entertains him for me!! he draws the line at changing nappies. the week we got home from the hospital i had to sit on his bed with ds1 while we watched thomas the tank engine as ds1 is convinced that nate will love it too. plus in 10 years time he can babysit when he is 18!! bonus

VoodooKumquat · 14/12/2006 21:08

aaaah!!
they sound lovely.
Fear is a big part of why I want to wait, I thought I was going to die after dd!!

had a postnatal haemorrhage had to go in for another emergency d&c, for retained placenta.

This was a surprise as I was rushed to theatre after the birth for a D&c anyway...lucky me, having two.

The consultant said I was indeed lucky...some people need three (!!??)
The bad news was my stitches had all but healed when I had to have the second op, and they bloody re-stitched me completely. The MW were amazed. I had 3rd degree tear so that was a lot of stitching and V. sore.
Then because of the 100 degree heat and the massive san. towels I had to wear I got thrush incredibly.
I thought Never Again.

JennStarOfWonder · 14/12/2006 22:01

No no no no 18 months (please please please) is the optimum age difference......

VoodooKumquat · 14/12/2006 22:18

you aint got no choice, jenn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JennStarOfWonder · 14/12/2006 22:20

Had scan and there is only one thank god, but only 8 plus 4 so must have known I was pregnant IMMEDIATELY.

VoodooKumquat · 14/12/2006 22:22

i think once you know how it feels, you sense it earlier, dont put it down to tiredness, etc. Did you get to this point by 'happy accident' then,.? how did your dh/p take it?

JennStarOfWonder · 14/12/2006 22:41

Not happy accident. Decided we were going to start trying so there would be 2 years (figuring it would take 6 months like last time) difference. I hadn't had a period yet so when I had my first fertile cervical mucus accompanied by feeling very randy, it must have worked....sorry if tmi!

VoodooKumquat · 14/12/2006 22:49

god dd is nearly 6mths old, and I cant stand the idea of sex yet, tbh, my bits are still sore!!!

JennStarOfWonder · 14/12/2006 22:54

BF def has an effect on your libido! Makes you far less erm....comfortable.

VoodooKumquat · 15/12/2006 12:57

waaaaa my display has totally changed and I dont like it!!!!

worleywinterwonderland · 16/12/2006 08:20

did anyine notice we have been talking on this thread for a month now!!!
we will put our tree up today,, ds1 is soooo excited, hes wanted to do it the past few days but i have put it off till today, he broke up from school yesteray also so i have 2.5 weeks with him before i go back to work as well.

we went to ds2's new nursery thursday for a while, there are so many forms to fill in. i even has to sign for them to give him some of his formulas that we make his rice up with as its prescribed. (he wont drink it and i dont blame him as it smells rank)
i am leaving him for half an hour on monday while i hand in my return to work stuff to HR. im taking ds1 with me for moral support, but he wanted to know if we could put ds2 in nursery at weekends as well!!!.

im stilltrying to express and freeze as muxh as i can to leave with him at the nursery, i think hes going to really play up as he is at that clingy stage at the minute as soon as i walk out of the room his bottom lip curls over!! its so cute
anyway, have a nice day everyone

VoodooKumquat · 16/12/2006 11:44

oh, Worley, he will be fine, think of all the fun he is going to have with the other little children!
They are professionals, remember, they are fabulous.

you will have a lovely couple of weeks with them both, now, enjoy every minute and dont worry about the future.

My parents are back with us now until new years, the house seems very small again, but it is only 6 weeks until they move up to Scotland so I am trying to make every minute count.

DD was a complete nightmare last night...she was singing and shouting 'dadada' at the top of her voice for three bloody hours! We are going to move her into her own room after christmas, I cant deal with her doing that! She doesnt even seem tired today!
it starts off being funny and cute but rapidly becomes a pain in the behind...she also wanted feeding 4 times through the night, so my boobs are refilling with milk so I will have to go thru the engorgemment pain again
I think its because she cant poo, she goes four/5 days between poos since I started weaning...maybe will cook and puree her some pears but really cant be arsed...

VoodooGooseFat · 16/12/2006 15:56

ooooh even more christmassy name...I love Nigella and it is topical too....

and I love the roast potatoes better than turkey

JennStarOfWonder · 16/12/2006 20:35

Mmmmmm roast potatoes. We never have turkey coz none of us like it but the roasties are essential. Did them in goose fat a few years ago.....fabulous.

wapping your baps out is SO much easier than a bottle of formula voodoo. Dh has started back on the dream feeds at 11pm ish and that seems to send her through to 6.30-7.30am. As soon as I knew I was pregnant I said enough is enough I need my sleep you can give her formula, and since then the little so and so has slept through!
