Would like to see my toes again! I want to lose weight because...

I don't know if anyone else is trying to lose weight, but I realised recently that there are various things I do differently since I've put on weight, such as:

I half lie, half sit in an undignified sprawl on the bed to get my tights on since it's too uncomfortable to do it from standing and I'd probably overbalance

I roll out of our (very low down) bed in a kind of sideways, crab-like fashion and then get up from being on my knees. This one must be really attractive to watch!

I'm careful about my back all the time since it's slightly painful and I know it's due to the extra weight on my stomach...

I'm not gargantuan but have about 2 stone to lose. Realised today that not having to worry about the above is another incentive to stick at it.

Anyone else want to share their embarrassing reasons for dieting?? And I have no excuse for being overweight, ds is 4 and I'm not pregnant, although it's only a matter of time before someone asks me when it's due

Don;'t be scared!!! You'll be fine I'm sure. is your husband reconciled to the fact of you going, or does he still not know? Good luck to you - have to go to bed now, completely knackered. Post on Dh behaviour not on thread and let us know how it goes. Think of all those naff pop songs "Things can only get better" "The only way is up" etc. I have better things than this in my collection honest, but hope you know what I mean!! take care.

Would an easier life be boring??
This reminds me of what my best friend used to say to me when I was going through the trauma of my divorce. It was so tiring going through all those (awful) emotions and she used to say to me "at least you know you're alive".
I sometimes felt like punching her.
Also my other friend who would helpfully say "whatever doesn't kill you will make you stronger" to which I would say, no it won't , it will just leave me feeling half dead

Not forgetting " I will survive"!
Night night all x

I would love an easy life! One of the things I am looking forward to about being on my own is the thought of not dreading coming home when h's car is in the drive because of the horrid atmosphere.

Salalex - definately arrange to go to mediation. My friend who has just separated from her h has 4 children. The role of mediation is to help you parent your children well and minimise problems. Once all the agreements have been thrashed out you then poceed to the solicitor with the agreement all drawn up. Each of them is assigned a counsello who they see individually. Then they meet up together with their mediator to discuss how they will manage the children etc.
Her exh has agreed to see his counsellor more often because he has more problems than her, especially dealing with the fact that she has not crumbled since he left.
She says that mediation has been great because each of them has someone to talk to confientially then all the practical issues are discussed and agreed. The children are coping really well because the aim is not to allow their difficulties to impact on them. The aim is to keep them both as good parents.

Jasper, are you still out there, how is it going?

WW first - I am chipping away at the weight at about a pound a week, depending on what week of the month it is! Misery, one week per month I gain about 2 lbs in fluid. I have slackened off the diet, and little naughties are creeping back - butter is my passion, along with crisps (not eaten together you understand, unless desperate!)
I really need some inspiration to get back on it. I am at present 8lbs under goal, but want to keep going.

On the up side, a whole new wardrobe has been required, so that's good.

Does anyone have some good WW recipes for soup that isn't based on a tin of chopped tomatoes? I saw somewhere that someone made mushroom soup, but what are the quantities please?

Sorefeet, how are they? Are you dancing yet? I've been thinking of you, but haven't had time to get on to mumsnet recently.

Thanks AliH.
Got the casts off last week and was stupidly disappointed I could not dance around like a dervish as the feet were so sore and stiff.I could barely move my big toes, which, horror of horrors, were not lying flat, but were a few mm. off the ground. This was a long term outcome of an acquaintence's surgery and was the one thing I was specifially worried about. However, one week later they are feeling much stronger and the toes are nearly flat on the ground. Did you experience this?
The weight loss has been slow lately ( I officially reached my goal a few weeks ago but want to lose about ten more pounds)as I have had lots of lovely meals out and I just can't resist once the wine starts flowing.

0 point Spicy cauliflower soup:
Roast florets from a large cauliflower sprinkled with 2tsp ground cumin and sprayed with low fat spray for about 20 min till tender and slightly charred.
Meanwhile "fry " a large onion and 2 garlic cloves till soft, adding a little water if needed.
Mix all ingredients together with 2 pints vegetable or chicken stock; simmer 5 min, then liquidise, season and serve.
