SGIME · 20/11/2006 16:37

Hi all!!

Working my way through the first 24 hours bit.......not a wiff a puff a longing a nothing..........playing out with dd and then early to bed......

SGIME · 20/11/2006 21:53

Oh the theraputic benefits of colouring in! Have always loved it (do some, sans DD!)and it is very useful to occupy yourself with rather than thinknig of something else....

did have a funny feeling about today - almost 'knew' that today would be a good one without fags and I would make it. Perhaps learning from SO many mistakes in the past week or so...........but anyway...

SGIME · 20/11/2006 22:51

And why is there a map of Greenland at the head of this thread???

And smoke hasn't been getting in my eyes for..let's see....22 hours and 40 mins!!

I did imagagine having one at one point, with a cup of tea in my 'smoking position' and thought 'and how exactly will that help in any way?...Hmmm??"

Sat up in bed with tea, laptop, and a creeping sense of smugness, in a limited way.......

ChopinRocks · 20/11/2006 22:53

no fags for 7 months, 12 days thanks to patches and nicorette gum.

Still have the odd pang for one but not given in. [smil]

SGIME · 20/11/2006 23:32

I Dream of 7 months, chopin....

content at mo. with 23hours and 54 mins......

and it starts all over again tomorrow......and why isn't cc on duty to witness this??? Hmm??

SGIME · 21/11/2006 00:01

There goes the big 2-4!!!

aliceband · 21/11/2006 07:31

so very nearly had one yesterday, took patch off, made a shopping list, only real requirement was of course bacccy, only to find my dh had sloped off, leaving me with ddc (3 of them) .. put a fresh patch on.
two weeks today.

charliecat · 21/11/2006 08:44

Well done SGIME, I was tucked up in bed
Ahh, thats the thing with patches, take it off and you make a mad rush for a fag...

SGIME · 21/11/2006 17:33

Thank you charlie cat. A really strong voice was yours (whatever it sounds like!) saying "So, you are going to smoke til you drop dead, are you?"..

Feeling ok. Had one or two pangs - esp. when mind wanders forward - but have learned from mistakes this last week or so, and from summer....

No great bodily adjustments happening...looking forward to the excessive spitting bit as lungs are cleared...!!

Feeling confident this time........(oh N000ooooo!!)

charliecat · 21/11/2006 18:47

I am a hairy trucker, I have a grizzly voice Doing well. Keep it up. Its like being smashed over the head with a hammer when you have a fag after stopping for a day or two...its devestating to the soul, and you STILL want to stop, but somehow your STILL smoking.
Take my word for it!

imaginaryfriend · 21/11/2006 22:54

SGIME, you're doing absolutely brilliantly. You've got a fabulous attitude going and you're almost through the very worst most intense part of quitting. The next stage is more psychological than physiological. Keep posting on here.

Where's that sheep, cc?

I've gone over the 3 month mark now. Phew ... and I can honestly tell you SGIME that only on very odd occasions do I even think about fags.

In fact at the meet-up I was horrified at just how smokey my hair and clothes felt afterwards. Just think i probably smelt like that all the time when I was smoking and didn't have a clue.

Which reminds me ... how do you get the whiff of smoke out of a winter coat?!

notasheep · 21/11/2006 23:04

Good Evening!!!!!!!!!!
Been busy preparing presentation for tomorrow, have another job interview(project worker Home Start)
So you survived the big do then ifriend, stinky, stinky!!

SGIME-can i repeat ifriends wise words
When i had a massive craving i would get angry with Mr Nicotine and tell him to f off,he will fade away, remember one day at a time

charliecat · 22/11/2006 12:31

Morning Hang the coat outside in the fresh air?
Dunno, I got a second hand purse in a charity shop that STUNK 6 months ago of fags. And it still stinks now

charliecat · 22/11/2006 22:51

Evening. I need to join AA. I brought lambrini for 96p a litre today. LOL!

SGIME · 23/11/2006 01:00

Ahem.....3 days, 56 mins....!!!!!!!! >

cc - I can out-do you...me and a friend bought some cider last week...worked out at 23p a pint...it was awful...but we knew that!!

No pangs, no strains......is it this easy??!!

where on earth is SEA?

charliecat · 23/11/2006 10:04

23p a pint where

SGIME · 23/11/2006 12:52

Tesco. IT was true gut-rotting stuff, tasted shite, and will not be returning to it - wouldn't be being served at the Ambassador's REception parties...

Am now totally knackered. Smoking robs one of energy, and now it is still the same! - am told by an ex-smoker (who gave up through Mr Allen) that this is because I will now have more oxygen in my brain and the new "fresh air" introduced can be quite soporific, like going for a long walk in the fresh air.

about to drop off.............

and where IS SEA!!!!

charliecat · 23/11/2006 20:08

SEA is chuffing in the corner I bet Your doing bloody great you know. Keep it up. I felt very manic when I first gave up. Like I was switched on to full speed all the time.

imaginaryfriend · 23/11/2006 22:43

SGIME, I know I don't know you but I'm really proud of you! You're doing so incredibly well. The worst of the physical withdrawals will be over now so all you have to do is keep focused on the fight not to give in to that all-consuming one puff!

I remember a few years ago a relative bought me a bottle of brandy, it was enormous, and I think they said it cost 6 quid or something. It was so vile I can still kind of remember how it tasted, like it was going to burn my tongue off. I retched when i tried a swig. It went down my mum's bathroom sink!!

96p Lambrini. CC, really. I get 10 cans of Carlsburg from my local offy for £6 which I think it a pretty good deal.
