Sorry to hear this

I live in Exeter too - if there's anything at all I can do, someone let me know. [email protected]

I'll be thinking of them, I hope there's better news soon

MerlinsBeard · 12/10/2006 13:15

thinking of you

Jimjams2 · 12/10/2006 13:24

OMG missed this. Poor essbee's ds.

Does she have someone helping to look after dd?

missymoosal · 12/10/2006 13:25

He is def on the right treatment to protect his heart. As long as the asprin etc are started within 10 days of the start of the infection then the chances of heart problems are very small.
Even if worst case scenario occurs it usually rights itself although it can take a few months. Either way he will have lots of checks even after he is discharged to keep a close eye on him.
As I was saying to LiasLisa last night if you are not happy then demand to see a paediatric dr as only children under the age of 1 automatically get to see one.
Alot of A+E SHO's are on a 6 month rotation and if you are unlucky and get one that is not too switched on things get missed.
I'm thinking of you Essbee will be working a 12 hr shift in A+E myself tonight will try to log on and see how things are.
It is so hard to see your child sick, you feel so helpless but you've done all the right things and just keep giving him all your mummy love which is the best medicine of all
Much Love Marie

Thinking of you & your DS, essbee.xxx

naswm · 12/10/2006 18:04

poor poor little boy essbee, and poor poor essbee herself . I am nowhere near her to offer any practical help. Are there enough local mumsnetters who can help???

If anyone speaks to her please assure her of our love.

Essbee says thanks for thinking of her & DS. The scan has been postponed til next week as DS screamed and got very upset about it. IIRC they discovered a heart murmur before diagnosing Kawasaki but the symptoms started less than 10 days ago so I guess that's good. I assume she has someone looking after her DD but she didn't say. She did say that knowing MNers are thinking of her does help as she feels very alone (No DH, just an ar$e of an ex which is why she moved away!).

Obviously I'm 100s of miles away from her and can't help but if anyone thinks they're near her (Exeter way) and would like to offer whatever, you can email me on iamsoupdragon at blueyonder dot co dot uk and I could pass on your mobile no or someething. I don't know... Anyway, will let you know if/when she texts again

edam · 12/10/2006 22:29

So sorry to hear about this. Sending lots of get well soon vibes towards Exeter.

Pinkchampagne · 12/10/2006 22:31

Send her my love, soupdragon. I wish I was nearer & could help more.

fennel · 13/10/2006 09:27

only just seen this Essbee will try phoning.

Tiggiwinkle · 13/10/2006 11:02

Any news as to how essbees DS is today?

missymoosal · 13/10/2006 16:51

bump

SoupDragon · 13/10/2006 19:52

Ah yes, spoke to her and forgot to post - got side tracked by a silly game.

Anyway, he's still nto well and is fed up with not being well and wants to know when he'll begin to feel better because he doesn't like taking the medicine... apparently he looks better having started the blood thingy part of the treatment - has more colour in his cheeks - but isnt' really feeling any better. Very dry/sore lips and throat so doesn't want to eat/drink/talk/answer the doctors' questions.

Essbee says thanks for all the thoughts and best wishes. Ar$ey ex is due this weekend anyway so that willhelp. DD has been foisted on a neighbour, bless her.

scAIRY · 13/10/2006 21:18

Soupy, next time you speak to her or text her can you tell her I'm thinking of her My mobile has broken and I can't text her myself, I don't want her to think I've forgotton her! and please tell her we can do the weekend away whenever ds is better and all is settled xxx

Thanks

This morning's update is that the anti-sickness drugs are working but he's still hot and his lips are now so sore they're black

scAIRY, will do.

Tiggiwinkle · 14/10/2006 10:57

Thank you for letting us know. Poor essbee-she must be exhausted. How long is he likely to be in hospital and needing treatment for?

ItalianJob · 14/10/2006 11:15

. Didn't realise that DS had been hospitalised till today, poor thing. Am nowhere near to offer any practical help, can you think of anything I could send that might help Soupy?

(formerly MTS)

SoupDragon · 14/10/2006 11:30

I don't think anyone knows how long he'll be in, Tiggiwinkle. From what essbee said, it's not a matter of treating their llness, just managing it and taking preventative measures whilst it runs its course.

I don't there's anything you can do Italianjob. Was thinking of sending Josh something like pokemon cards or the Dr Who ones but don't know what his current obsession is!

ItalianJob · 14/10/2006 11:34

afaik he is still massively into yu-gi-oh!
