Oh no!

missymoosal · 11/10/2006 20:53

Relieved as I was v concerned probably should not have been sent home in the first place. Some A+E dr's need a good kick up the a**e. Hopefully he is on a drip to replace all that fluid lost with those high temps. Keep your chin up kids are amazingly tough and I'm sure he will now improve.

Tiggiwinkle · 11/10/2006 21:05

Sorry it took so long to get your DS the treatment he needed essbee . Hope he gets better soon now.

LaDiDaDi · 11/10/2006 21:45

I know it sounds awful but I'm pleased he's been admitted because I was really worried about how long his temp had been so high for and dehydration etc etc. Hope he gets better soon.

CrocodileKate · 11/10/2006 21:45

Apparently not a good night with high temps and screaming. The docs seem to think it's not tonsilitis but something Essbee's not heard of (so I can't tell you what!)

MerlinsBeard · 12/10/2006 09:31

Am glad he's been admitted, it means Essbees worries weren't unfounded and he can work on getting better. Hopefully his temps will start to drop now.

DumbledoresGirl · 12/10/2006 09:33

Hope he gets better soon essbee.

katierocket · 12/10/2006 09:34

Tiggiwinkle · 12/10/2006 09:34

How awful that he was sent home the first time. Hope he is improving essbee.

Soup dragon try to find out and I may be able to help her with any questions she might have

pageturner · 12/10/2006 10:10

Soupy, is there anything I can do to help? I have texted her but if you speak to her please let her know I'm around if I can do anything.

SoupDragon · 12/10/2006 10:14

Will do PT - although I'm only communicating by text too.

She thinks it sounded like kawasaki but a quick google doesn't make it a typical case from what little I know about her DSs symptoms. Very odd. Anyway, they'll explain more to her when/if they're certain what it is apparently.

pageturner · 12/10/2006 10:33

Got to go into Exeter now but have my phone with me if needed!

LIZS · 12/10/2006 10:38

That sounds so frightening for her and her ds . Hope they can identify the problem asap and he feels better soon.

missymoosal · 12/10/2006 11:02

It's probably Coxsackie virus which explains why the antibiotics didn't work. Symptoms usually last up to 10 days but there are varying degrees of how severe it is.
There isn't anything they can do other than try to keep him pain free and give him fluids via a drip and keep him monitored as occasionally there can be dangerous complications but I hasen to add this is very rare.
Keep us informed

SoupDragon · 12/10/2006 11:45

Essbee says it's confirmed as Kawasaki with thepossibility of the heart complication so he's on aspirin and the blood thingy treatment.

misdee · 12/10/2006 11:48

this is bringing back bad memories.

is he on warfarin as well?

MadameButterfly · 12/10/2006 12:02

I have no idea, misdee (and I can see why this would bring back bad memories) but I don't think so - I guess that's why the aspirin, it apparently one of the few things they give children aspirin for.

He's due an on his heart today when they should know more.

misdee · 12/10/2006 12:05

echocardiogram, possibkly an ecg as well. {smile} non ivasive ones i am guessing.

SoupDragon · 12/10/2006 12:06

Yeah, those are the ones... couldn't be ar$ed to check what she said on the text message!
