imaginaryfriend · 21/09/2006 10:08

And I'm in the middle - 35 days tomorrow! Whoopee!!

Actually I have a lousy cough at the moment so I'm really glad I'm off the fags too.

notsheep - you said you're not working at the moment? Is your dp working? Men are often not the most, ahem, responsible of creatures are they?

Meanwhile dd's birthday is looming and payday seems a lifetime away ...

Ifriend-dp is temping and has interview next week for decent job at University.

Walked up a steep hill today whilst pushing ds and thought to myself OMG thank goodness i dont want a fag
Out tonight for a drink to my favourite bar which is 100% no smoking

imaginaryfriend · 21/09/2006 14:54

Been doing a spot of face-painting on the side then cc?

What an incredibly hot day it's turned into. The first really summery day since I quit. (I like putting it in the past tense ). 5 weeks tomorrow! YAY! I'm really finding that so much of the time now I don't think about it at all. But when I do think about it the possibility of having one seems horribly close. I don't think that psychologically I'm over smoking at all. Any idea when that's meant to happen? 6 months? A year?

Hi nota! Ds asleep?

Dd's having a VERY late lunch due to our having a long journey home from school. We fell off the bike when a dog ran in front of me in the park and dd grazed all up the side of her arm and I half broke off the toenail from my little toe. OUCH!

notasheep · 21/09/2006 15:00

IFriend-WELL DONE YOU!!!!!! this business of not thinking about it will go but who knows when i dont know, all depends on what your circumstances you are in and how your brain deals with it.
Example;should i get very drunk with a friend i would prob have one now, however so many months down the line i know it just wont come into my head, cant fix a date then.
When i last gave up it went completely at about 6months for me.
hope this helps

notasheep · 21/09/2006 15:02

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/09/2006 10:50

I want to quit smoking

I have a nasty cold so seems a good time to quit as I dont want to smoke

I have 6 fags left in the packet

and $10 left in the bank so cant buy anymore even if I wanted too!

My chest hurts it probably wouldnt be this bad if I didnt smoke!

imaginaryfriend · 22/09/2006 10:53

Yippee nota!! That's so damned good to be out for an evening and not have a single chuff.

So when you coming for coffee?

cc's absconded again. She's a sneaky puss.

charliecat · 22/09/2006 10:54

Tamba, get over to whyquit.com for some reading.

imaginaryfriend · 22/09/2006 11:01

tamba, throw them away and never look back!!

sorry cc, didn't see you there

OP posts:
TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/09/2006 11:01

I cant read it - it scares me

I have nightmares sometimes that im dying cause im smoking and my boys are crying for mummy!

My friend is quitting too, we both smoke alot more around each other so makes sense to do it at the same time iyswim as we spend alot of time together.

imaginaryfriend · 22/09/2006 11:03

How many do you smoke a day tamba? And how old are you and your boys?

I used to wake up in a cold sweat in the mornings with thinking horrible thoughts of having killed myself with smoking and poor dd crying about it. It's the best incentive you'll ever have to be honest.

OP posts:
TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/09/2006 11:08

I smoke between 15-20 a day!

The kids are 4.5 and 2.5 I know I can stop cause I stopped completely when I found out I was pregnant with them and then also whilst I was feeding them, but each time when they have got to about 8 months ive gone on a night out and thought 'just one wont hurt'

Over the last couple of days its only been about 5 a day though as have been feeling crap so may aswel take the opportune moment

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 22/09/2006 11:08

Oh and im 23

Georgiesmum · 22/09/2006 11:41

My dh have been giving up for 2 years now and he has restarted about 5 times!

i quite when i got pregnant so have been quit nearly 3 years now, i do have the occasional social smoke when i go out once in a blew moon.

You can do it girls!!

charliecat · 22/09/2006 13:11

So you can do it then tamba..at least you know that. And it sounds like your head and body are telling you right now that the time is right.
The thing about quitting with a friend is that if she fails will you join her? Ah bugger it, if shes smoking, i will too....give that thought. You have to continue regardless of what happens with her...and if she does fail, she willbe very of you and will rejoin you when she gathers strenght

imaginaryfriend · 22/09/2006 13:29

Tamba, then you can remember how it is to quit? I mean what it takes? Can you face that right now?
