have been keeping an eye on you all from a distance. Panboy, so you had a blip; so what? Doesn't mean you now have to buy fags every day. You have already proved you can stop. Stop again. You can do this; you're mightier than the fags & you can control them not the other way around. x

Tortington · 26/08/2006 23:57

bless me CC and IF for i have sinned i had one fag when i went out on pissfest friday.
i didn't like it and didn't have another.

i feel i have overcome this temptation am i still allowed to say i quit for a week come sunday?

charliecat · 27/08/2006 10:20

Hmm ok Custy, BUT you have to remember how bloody awful fags tasted in the begininning. So foul you though you could never get hooked. And look what happened. Youve spent all of your adult life smoking yourself into the grave.

Tortington · 27/08/2006 23:09

oh no that forgiveness was very begrudging.

one week - one fag tody hip hoorah.

even better dh has gone 4 days and purposefully avoided going out with friends to darts beuase only 2 days in ( at that time) he thought it too much of a temptation.

we went for a couple of games of pool today and he asked to come home becuase it was too hard being there fag free.

which is all very encouraging.

imaginaryfriend · 28/08/2006 09:34

custy, one doesn't have to mean anything. And the best thing was you didn't like it and didn't have another!

panboy, how's it going?

Cc, how was London? You could've popped in to see me if I hadn't been away

doing lots of lurking

charliecat · 28/08/2006 10:19

Come on in Notasheep we will convert you if you do, you cant be converted if you dont join
Custy, the thing is...and it took me a while to realise this, that if i had just one fag, 21 months later, i would have fucked up. Big time.
Thats the truth of it. And the ONLY WAY to stop smoking is to never have anymore.
Its really good that DH is getting away from situations he cant deal with. Thats how I coped at first, left anything thyat was making my teeth clench and blood pressure rise!
IF..We could just about find buckingham palace LOL, Id love to see us finding a little place LOL!!!
Did you have a good time?

CC, Buckingham Palace, my home of course! Did you enjoy your day out then? Sounds like a regular sight-seeing tour? MIL wasn't too bad apart from dd's asthma with the dog there was pretty rough, she coughed all night!

But today's been so brilliant for me. I realised at 2pm that I hadn't thought once about smoking until then!!!!!!!!! I had a couple of ropey hours between 2 (when I remembered to crave ) and 4, then until this moment here I haven't thought once about fags.

what I find is moments when I'm tired or niggled by something, then it pops into my head that normally a fag would 'help.' But really I'm amazed how little I've thought about it these last couple of days.

notasheep, come on it. Even if you're not quite ready yet, just come and chat anyway?

Custy how are you doing now?

And panboy ... curiously silent once again ...

Oh and well done, Rickman! How long is it now?

OP posts:
Tortington · 29/08/2006 12:17

am doing well. i have my mint imperials and i have just come to like the taste of coffee again. i wouldnt drink it witho ut a fag.

imaginaryfriend · 29/08/2006 18:51

I was thinking today about how and why I smoked. I was always a 'nervous' smoker, i.e. anything that even slightly got my adrenaline going meant me reaching for a fag. I wasn't a social smoker or anything like that so a night out drinking didn't mean I'd smoke any more than any other night. But a stressful day would see me get through them really quickly. So now I can still drink a beer or two in the evening with no fag and it's not a problem. But if anything goes wrong or dp drives me up the wall I feel like I really need a smoke.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share that fascinating insight into my incredible and unusual brain with you.

Today's been fabulous smoking-wise, about 3 small episodes of wishing I had a cancer stick to puff on but really that's all.

Getting brain in the RIGHT place for September 1st

notasheep · 29/08/2006 18:53

And well done you lot!

imaginaryfriend · 29/08/2006 18:55

Hi notasheep. What went wrong with the last quits? How many are you smoking a day now?

OP posts:
notasheep · 29/08/2006 20:58

Long story!
Have stopped for 3 years, started again
18 months started again
and numerous other occasions

Big problem i have is i have THAT ONE and then on slippery slope again.

Its sooooooooo frustrating knowing i can do it,but just not getting there.

I NEVER buy cigarettes or have any in my bag or smoke if i go out for the evening(favourite bar is non smoking)
I blame it on my dp,which i know is wrong,he obviously smokes(roll ups) so i just pinch one of his

Panman · 29/08/2006 21:05

Hi all, esp. you notasheep, don't think we have met????

ok, coming toward end of first day - quit meter reads 20h 35mins. Mind wonders occassionally, chest a bit tight at times, but keeping busy. About to pack bag for gym tomorrow pre-work, making a blackberry and apple crumble, having a candle-bath, tomato soup, anything that does move gets eaten.

Panman · 29/08/2006 21:06

that should say "anything that DOESN'T move..."..focus!!

naswm · 29/08/2006 21:58

Panman · 29/08/2006 22:06
