Hi guys ... join me over here?

Thats something missing, its a good thing, its your addiciton to fags, going going gone.
You would only have a fag and wish you hadnt and it would shatter your confidence in yourself and you would have to do this ALL OVER AGAIN, so dont. Please dont.
Gutted for Allen Carr
However, he reckons he would have been dead if he hadnt stopped smoking so, he had 2o odd extra years of life..so, its gotta be good.
And having lung cancer as a non smoker has got to better than having lung cancer and STILL wanting to smoke. That must be fucking awful.
excuse my french, but it must.

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 12:02

Yes, awful. Imagine having to give up smoking when you've just been told the most stressful news EVER?

Did you read about the wife of Christopher Reeve who died of lung cancer (this year I think) without having EVER smoked???

Sorry for being morbid. Thinking of morbid stories spurs me on. A cool cool beer would help. I'm at work and would easily have slipped out for a smoke or two by now. I'm meeting a smoke-free mate for lunch today so that should steer me from temptation.

When do you suppose I'll begin to feel less easily tempted??? And for these horrid empty lungs to leave me be ... ?

Depends doesnt it.
I couldnt settle for a year, but thats not to say I was a rattling jibbering wreck with them always on my mind, I just knew that once id got past a year I was sorted.
IYKWIM
Find a nice fruit juice or something to distract you.

charliecat · 18/08/2006 12:09

And once you have done this and got through this you never need think of a fag again

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 12:24

AGH!! Not a year!!!!! Don't say that ....

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 12:26

Well, having screamed at you, I do know what you mean. But I found when I did my most successful quit 10 years or so ago that it was about 6 months in that I really looked at people smoking as though they were aliens and felt no envy for their fags at all ...

Gonna go and have a triple espresso now. Or something. With 29 sugars.

OP posts:
charliecat · 18/08/2006 12:43

Have 30
You do know what I mean, to rest easy KNOWING with 100% conviction that I am over it and an ashtray is NOT going to fool me into taking a dead one out and lighting it.

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 13:57

Lunch done and I didn't succumb but boy was I tempted!! Now I feel a strong need to sleep ...

Hi you two!

and yes CC it IS good for me!! Can't say I have noticed an increase in performance as a result of not smoking as yet, but I do understand that lung performance can take up to 9 months to improve, so I should be grateful and patient at the mo.??

IF - you are so impressive...it is nothing to do wit hthe nicotine in your body anymore is it? It is purely concerned with your mental control, which IS entirely in your gift, and your practicing in keeping yourself diverted??? But big up you.

btw, are we "LEague of Gentlemen" fans at all??

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:03

I WANT A FAGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Panboy · 18/08/2006 15:07

No you don't !! You only think you do. You don't really. THINK IT THROUGH!!

charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:09

Nah you dont, your nicotime monster is taking his last breathe and NEEDS you to fill up on nicotine, listen to the screams and hear him die a death.

charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:10

Its so not worth it. you wanted to quit smoking right?
Well having a fag is just going to keep you smoking.
And it will make you feel like wanker.
And it will be foul. And in another 38 minutes you would want another one.

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:19

BUT I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going crazy today. It's horrible. The worst day by far. A total battle. AGGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:22

Ok, lets pretend you have 1. In 10 mins your gonna feel like a complete twat. Dont.
Go for a run round the front room or go scream in a pillow or summat.
Honestly, having 1 is not the way to go.Oh, and its never just one.

Panboy · 18/08/2006 15:26

CC - ditto - so eloquently put.

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:33

I know I know I know. I'm at work so having to contain my desire to scream, punch myself in the head, etc.

And I have to resist the journey home via so very many corner shops ..... How will I do it?? I know it'll be ok when I get home, no opportunities there, it's just between now and then I'm dreading ...

WHY is it so bad today????????????????

OP posts:
charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:39

Because the nicotine is trying to get you back.
Those shops, they are always there, they are NOT going to go away. Your going to have to walk past them every day or two.
Watch people spend £38 on fags in bulk to save a pound....come on...you can see the sad/funny side to that.
And your going to be behind them in the queue with less wrinkles, a clear, unaddicted mind, a cleansed soul and clear bright lungs. With a dd whos proud of her mummy
You dont want to be having this same arguement with yourself in 10 years as your dd taps your shoulder and asks you to pass her the ashtray OK.

charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:41

And its not going to be easy, but its definetly worth it. Gte through this hell and never ever ever put yourself through it again by never smoking again

Panboy · 18/08/2006 15:41

Breath-taking CC...IF - what more else do you need to know??? Just don't do it.

charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:42

A small punch to the front of your head can be achieved if you put your fist on the desk and lean forward very quickly BTW

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:50

CC, what motivational talk! Phew, especially the dd bit. She'd be heartbroken to think of her mummy killing herself wouldn't she?

OP posts:
charliecat · 18/08/2006 15:51

Yep, absoultly. Walk home with your head held high

imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:51

I am like a loony today though - do you really think this is my breaking the back of the final nicotine addiction? I thought that was all gone now? Yet this is definitely not a psychological craving, I recognise those buggers, this feels distinctly physiological ...

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 18/08/2006 15:52

Shit, do I have to walk home? I was planning on hopping on the bus ...
