Morning really - you sound bright and breezy today - I hope that means that you got a decent nights sleep.
Good news about goodness.

Good luck Harriet - do you have an early start?

worriedsick100 · 29/01/2014 07:37

Pleased to hear that GoodnessKnows is doing ok. harrietv best of luck for your surgery today. x

Gigondas · 29/01/2014 07:39

Good luck Harriet.

Morning all- feeling ok tho had late night due to steroids and horrible dreams after reading that thread on Andre (you seen the bit on alka seltzer malt?). Also Andre or lee Ryan - who is worse?

glad goodness is ok - did seem very much herself. I am keeping my fingers crossed she can go to her own room soon out of intensive care.

Quiet day here - just got friend coming over later.

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 07:40

Morning all
Glad goodness is ok thanks for letting us know really
Good luck Harriet today Smile

Big day for me 1st haircut since June lol ! Shame she can't stick bits on rather than cut them off though

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 07:42

X post with you gigs
Not surprised you had bad dreams after that thread wonder if he googles himself and reads stuff like that
Lee Ryan also unbelievable. Can't believe jim seems likely to win he's been putting a huge act on in there

kitkat1967 · 29/01/2014 07:44

Have fun at the hairdressers malt. I am pleased to report that my hair dye did not rub off duringbthe night.

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 08:05

That's good Kitkat and thanks she's coming to my house Smile

Gigondas · 29/01/2014 08:11

Will we get pics malt ? My hair doing ok after cold cap but daren't cut it til it's done so looking bit unruly at back.

As for jim, does no one remember what a twat he is? Suppose it's mainly younger people who actually vote. Does it finish on Friday? As will miss it as off to watch rugby (well I will be at home in flat eating and watching take me out).

Goodness very chatty and even got cross with noisy nurses so that's a good sign.

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 08:26

You might get a pic gigs !
CBB final is tonight think it was meant to be last weekend but they extended it as it was doing so well
Think you're right it's young people who vote who don't know all the stuff he's done in the past. Sam and Olly have been really boring, I have to say Louisa has grown on me.

harrietv · 29/01/2014 08:30

great to hear goodness is doing well.

kitkat1967 · 29/01/2014 10:42

Glad your hair is doing Ok Gigs - with only 2 chemos to go hopefully it will hang in for you Smile.

Blimey Harriet - that's a long wait without a drink. When I went in for 11 I was allowed food unitl 8am and water until 10am. But not long to wait now - good luck.

Lilymaid · 29/01/2014 10:52

After a lovely 2 day spa break with DH, I'm now sitting in X-Ray waiting room, drinking blackcurrant flavoured contrast in preparation for latest CT scan. Results at Oncologist appointment on Saturday. Definitely brought me back to reality.
Best wishes to those having procedures today!

Updatingmywill · 29/01/2014 11:12

Hi Harriet - you must have just gone in. Best wishes!! The nil by mouth from the wee small hours is just strange isn't it? Like you're going to get up at 01:55 for a quick drink!

I had to smile at the uplifting suggestion! I appear to be doing a pretty good job at looking well and being positive - two people commented on it yesterday. However there is a small pit of fear in the bottom of my stomach about this afternoons results which I can't bring myself to mention to anyone. What if the margins weren't clear and they have to go back in??

Aargh. And I've been getting migraines with auras since April last year which I had checked out as I was concerned that it might be something more significant. The brain MRI and ultrasound of my carotid arteries were both clear but the consultant told me that he wasn't comfortable with the diagnosis but didn't see what else it could be. They cleared up to only 1 a week for a while but I'm currently in the middle of the 3rd so far this week and I can't see waht I@m typing.

reallyreallyworried · 29/01/2014 11:13

Hi kitkat yep bright and breezy that's me! Slept from 10 til 2 so for me that's a good nights sleep! Woke with a nightmare Angry and then just couldn't go back off! But that's life!

Have managed the school runs, and made a lasagne for lunch. We have friends over this afternoon. So I'll be busy, which is good. It'll keep me awake Wink

I'm seeing my BCN tomorrow for a kick/slap/chat?? Whichever she deems most appropriate! We've been discussing the fact I don't want radiotherapy! But I know I need it! Wish I could sleep through all this and wake up when it's over!

Right back to work! Xxxx

Gigondas · 29/01/2014 11:19

Radio is ok really but you need to talk to Bcn about nightmares. I think if you could sleep better that would help your mood which would help your view on rads. Can you ask her when they need to happen? Maybe a break would help you recover. Or do you just want it done ?

Gigondas · 29/01/2014 11:21

Updating tons of good wishes- let's hope all out but we will hold your hand whatever.

Migraines sound horrid. can you speak to consultant as last thing you need at anytime is that kind of pain.

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 11:23

Lily I'm glad you had a good spa break, good luck with the scan and the results

Updating the migraines sound horrid hope you find an answer

Really why don't you want radiotherapy ? I start in 2 weeks, everyone says it's the least horrible part of it all,I'll let you know !

Pleased with my hair which is at least in some sort if style now though not one I would ever have chosen

Lilymaid · 29/01/2014 11:46

Malt congratulations on the haircut. My hair will soon need a trim but it is a long way from being ready for any sort of style (apart from crew cut). When was your last chemo?

Updatingmywill · 29/01/2014 12:01

Phew, that was a long one. I can now see properly again.

I have an appointment with the radiotherapist this afternoon and I was thinking I might ask what kind of bra I can wear. I've not met this person before and I've no idea if that is an appropriate question! I'm assuming that underwired will be too uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that is all I have apart from one sports bra that has to go over my head as it doesn't open at all. I have quite broad shoulders so it's a bit of a struggle at the best of times. Would a sports bra that opened at the front / back be okay? Is there anything better / softer that might still provide some support? I'm only a 34B but don't want to let gravity get the better of me too soon! (I was horrified recently when I noticed what had happened to my backside whilst I wasn't paying attention!!)

Updatingmywill · 29/01/2014 12:05

Sorry - posted without refreshing the screen!

Well I'm lucky in that I don't have any (or much anyway) pain with the 'migraine'. It's mainly the aura - the centre of my vision starts to pixelate and appear sparkly. This spreads out gradually in a widening ring shape, blocking out chunks of my visual field until it disappears off the edge as it were. Normally it only lasts for 25-30 minutes but it's enormously irritating whilst it's happening.

malteserzz · 29/01/2014 14:07

Lily my last chemo was 7th November but I did cold cap so didn't lose it all, since Christmas it's been growing quite well

Updating I haven't had any advice on bras for rads, just something comfy I guess. Hope your appointment goes well

Tiny100 · 29/01/2014 16:33

Gigs - Yay, great news that the chemo is working.

Lots happening today, good luck to Harriet for her surgery, Updating for her results, Lily for her scan and to Wee who starts Tax today. Is it still called Tax, when it is Paclitaxel? (Assuming it is, as the word tax is definitely in there.)

Good to hear that the operation was a success for Goodness and that they didn't remove her sense of humour along with the tumour!

Had my Oncologist appointment today and discussed my sleeping problems. He thought that counselling would be better for me than sleeping tablets, as I have no problem actually dropping off to sleep. Has anyone had counselling, what does it entail?

We also discussed the shoulder issue, which has been playing on my mind and contributing to the sleepless nights. When I asked, he said it could be something else, like a bone island. However when I pushed and asked how likely was it to be something else and not cancer, he gave it 50:50 odds. Those are not great odds and I have been close to tears since. Sad

Handbagsatdawn · 29/01/2014 17:02

Tiny understandably scary about your shoulder. I hope and pray its something else, but as usual the not knowing is hideous, and no wonder your sleep had been affected. I've never had counselling but am certainly looking to have some too, so will be interested to hear about anyone's experiences.
