Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

kitkat I think it's lovely that you want to share how proud you are of your DS! Well done him, and well done on you and your family for dealing with things so well. I do believe that with children, whatever their age. You just need to give them the information that they ask for! Hiding things, or lying about things is a big no no! In my opinion.

malt yes I am at my parents now. Off out with a family friend for a meal tonight (even if I'm not hungry) will be nice to catch up! You are right though, I think people assume that 'everyone' is bed ridden when they have Cancer/Chemo. I know some people have a really rough time. But I am very happy to make the most of feeling okay! But I won't be overdoing it! Think Mum and Dad feel more relaxed, now that they can see that I am okay. So I am glad I came Smile

In to have my day 8 bloods today. Was planning to go in with DD while DS1 & 2 at school but of course DS2 has a high temp so can't go in, and can't come with me. DM has come over to look after them while I get bloods done. Hope the portacath works ok today!

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/11/2013 14:19

I was supposed to start my third course of chemo today but they've put it off for a week as I have low blood pressure.
Not sure how I feel, it'll be nice not having to take all these tablets every day and feeling nauseous, but I also feel a week with no treatment is a waste of a week to get those bastard cells.
Is there anyone who knows what I should be doing to bring my BP up?

malteserzz · 13/11/2013 17:57

Lady what a pain I don't know how to raise blood pressure I'm afraid hopefully someone will come along who does

Weebarra hope your bloods went ok

Really enjoy your meal out

Kitkat ds sounds brilliant you are right to be proud Smile

Knittingnovice · 13/11/2013 18:18

Marshy, great news.

Hope everyone else's chemo is going ok too.

Things are returning to normal in the KN household, although my mum is still here to help with the DC as DH is in Liverpool working. I appear to have developed a pj fetish and don't seem to be able to go to Sainsbury's without picking up a pair of pj bottoms or fluffy jumper. It might be because being 6ft tall the pj bottoms are just long enough to lounge around the house, but I have never cared about pj's before.

I also finished the blanket I started knitting 11 months ago for DD2 and have really rediscovered my crafty mojo while I was in hospital, I completed a cross stitch kit for SIL Xmas present and have started on a scarf for DD1.

Part of the reason I am buying lots of pj's I think is I am going to have to pack a hospital bag as despite giving DH detailed instructions about what clothing I needed he seemed to route around in my drawers and bring in the clothes with holes or that don't fit, so having a bag packed in case I get admitted again will help reduce the stress level for both him and me & having dropped from a size 16 to a 10/12 I need to wear pj's in hospital that don't flash anything!!

foofooyeah · 13/11/2013 19:20

Kitkat, how lovely about your son, we need some lovely news on here.

Lady, sorry your chemo was delayed ... I get all psyched up for it so wouldn't want mine delayed.

My chemo was a bit grim today. Cold cap really hurt, I have three fresh ones and don't think I could handle the last one. Nurse was lovely and persuaded me to do it as had come so far (number 4). She held my hand and friend did reiki on me. Still feeling sick whenever I think of it. They have a new plug In one and am going to try that next time.

malteserzz · 13/11/2013 21:44

Foo foo that sounds tough glad you had a nice nurse and friend though . How much hair have you lost I found it did seem colder the less hair I had. I'm glad I stuck with it though as I never lost it all and it does seem to be coming back reasonably quickly now

Marshy · 13/11/2013 22:45

Hi everyone,

I've tried twice today to post from my laptop but it's not working, so back on my phone.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the good wishes following my news. I still can't quite believe it. Had a quiet day today. My boss came to visit bringing champagne and chocs so that was nice. She has been so supportive throughout my time off.

I've had a bit of an upset tum today and sp am glad I haven't started the tamoxifen yet as I would be thinking that was the cause. I have to pick up the prescription this week and then just start taking it I guess.

Saying good night and hope everyone gets a good sleep

Marshy · 13/11/2013 22:50

Lady re BP make sure you are well hydrated. It might help. My BP was low when I was in hospital having the MX. I wasn't drinking wnough

Gigondas · 13/11/2013 22:54

Just posting after long afternoon of chemo. Went ok but also loathed the cold cap when it went on but was ok after while so sympathy wee ( mine was plug in so you do avoid having the new cold feeling).

Feel bit drained and nauseous and tummy playing up but home at least. Also got minimal appetite really.

Hope that avoid fever tomorrow.

Gigondas · 13/11/2013 22:55

Knitting hospital bag a good plan - my dh also finds things that I had forgotten I had! Also if you have it maybe you won't have to use it.

foofooyeah · 14/11/2013 03:34

malt I actually still have full head of hair, its a bit thinner, nurse said that it was too good to stop now. But still feeling sick just thinking about t. Had handled so well up to now.

gigs hope your feeling ok and tummy nausea s settling down, lack of appetite is something I have never suffered from .. I'm just enjoying a bit of insomnia

kitkat1967 · 14/11/2013 07:38

lady - boo how on missing your chemo - I can't help you though as i'm always trying to get my BP down. I think low BP is a chemo SE so there may not me anything you can do yourself.

foo - I did the plug in cold cap - first session was OK but it got worse each time - I did manage to complete it for my 3 FEC cycles and kept a lot of hair but had a bald spot on top.
If you're getting good results try to hang in there.

knitting - glad things are getting back to normal for you. A PJ obsession is not a bad thing to have - I always look at them. Plus if you have any chance of a hospital stay you need nice PJs to hand.Smile.

gigs - did you get Tax this time? Are you going to stick with the cold cap or are you waiting to see the results?
In PP Amelia is in re-hab now - kids at school so I'm back in bed about to watch the next episode. I really don't like Sam BTW. I want Addison to get her baby and to leave him. Have you completed the series? The new one is out on DVD in Jan.

Going into work later - Will include lunch Wink so no rush to get up just yet!
And nearly forgot chemo OK yesterday - was very late 3:30 to 6:30pm plus I got 2 nurses as 1 was training. But glucose was down again (11) which is fab and also BP down to normal range, SO ....2 Weeks to go Grin.

Gigondas · 14/11/2013 07:51

Boo to insomnia foofoo -I did ok til someone little and fat climbed into bed(she can move in a gro bag) .

Kitkat- have done all the pp. I was mildly alarmed that Amelia got addicted to my painkiller ( I have never gone to gp and demanded it then smash it up on the counter!). Agree about Sam -he looks nice but is an arse. Am working my way thru series 9 but got side tracked by Maison close (brilliant French thing about a brothel on sky) and montalbano. Great news about bloods improving - my bp and pulse high but think thats white coat effect.

I can tell my immunity dipping as remember the bleurgh feeling. Hope my injections starting Tonight help.

Lilymaid · 14/11/2013 07:58

Off to LGFB today so will put any unwanted make up samples on the trolley!
At work yesterday and have agreed to come in 2x per week until I start rads. My temp can get on with a few jobs that I shall be very pleased not to do whilst I deal with the admin and more interesting work. Other days I'll work from home as before. Boss has been very supportive and knows I need to feel wanted at work for my own well being though she's not pressing me - especially as I have a 4 hour daily commute.

BetsyBoop · 14/11/2013 08:57

I just have to say big respect to gigs and HND (and anyone else who had drains in for a while) - I'm only on day 3 and the drains are driving me maaaaaad!

I think they will be out on Sat or Sun (policy here seems to be no longer than 6 days regardless of flow, due to infection risk) as I can't see them getting a low enough flow to remove before then ...both are still over 100ml.

Gigondas · 14/11/2013 09:12

They are a royal pain In the arse. The only thing I can suggest is to do as little as you can to let things heal up. I found the more I did , the more I leaked (you do get grimly obsessed with the flow though or is that me?;))
Lily- sounds like a good compromise. But respect for 4 hour commute!!!

weebarra · 14/11/2013 09:25

Had a call yesterday from my onc nurse to say my bloods were low, so antibiotics for me Sad . It's unsurprisingly hard to keep away from germs when you have 3 children under 6!

Gigondas · 14/11/2013 09:32

Very hard but do you have to take anti biotics as precaution or cos there is sign of infection?

weebarra · 14/11/2013 10:10

just as a precaution gigs, I actually feel ok!

malteserzz · 14/11/2013 10:11

Morning all
I am Hmm today will return when I feel better

BetsyBoop · 14/11/2013 15:11

for malt - remember this is the LAST time you'll have your post-chemo dip, and then it's up from here :)

Grin gigs I'm grimly obsessed with flow too, good to know I'm not the only strange one :) Hope you feel less bleurgh soon.

wee - I ended up on prophy ABs for my final two cycles after getting an infection on my 4th cycle - germ-ridden 6&7 yos here! (I had neualasta for all six cycles)

Gigondas · 14/11/2013 15:25

Yep last time I was neutropenic every cycle and had blood transfusions on 3 I think due to low blood iron but only anti bio when had line infections. It's funny isn't it how different places do different things? I have an anti biotic but not to take til they say I have infection - got nothing last time except in hospital.

Well had a sleep and made it out of bed for a shower but back in bed now.

Sorry that you feel pants malt but it's a week out isn't it? Give it another day or two and I will be seeing your social updates I am sure.

Lilymaid · 14/11/2013 17:35

Gigs I had antibiotics and antifungals prescribed from Day 8 of every Tax cycle. I thought it was standard, but I find that everyone seems to have different treatment and meds.
*Malt" - hope you start to feel a little better tomorrow. At least it is the last time!

malteserzz · 14/11/2013 18:05

Thanks I know well hope it will pass, doesn't help that I have an ulcer somewhere at the back of my tongue which is making eating and talking painful and it's hard to put anything on it back there
Spent most of the night crying, poor dh. He's going away with friends for the weekend though he deserves a break
I had antibiotics on fec but not tax and haven't had anti fungals at all. If is weird how it varies
