Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

OP posts:
Gigondas · 07/11/2013 16:12

And lilymaid I didn't realise you were also an archers fan.

topsyturner · 07/11/2013 16:15

Afternoon Gigs
Been lazing around in bed all day again ?
totally denies fact that I only got up at 12.30

Just popped back on to say I remembered the drug name in my syringe driver .
Ondansetron !

Also a very , very lovely mumsnetter has sent me some cakes !
I would put a few on the fbs trolley , but they are too damn nice to share Grin
dd already pinched the cherry one

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 16:29

Ooh nice - I could eat some cake quite happily so that's a good sign.

When is dd big exam topsy or shall we not speak of it?

topsyturner · 07/11/2013 16:45

Saturday week Gigs
I'm very blasé about it , as is DD .
She's getting 100% in nearly all her practice papers , and high 90s !

Am I a bad person to smugly smile at all the alpha mums who have been tutoring the lives out of their kids for the past 2 years , when DD hasn't been near a tutor ? Grin

pride goes before a fall Topsy

foofooyeah · 07/11/2013 17:23

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETSY Wine Thanks

malt congrats on last chemo

My pre chemo present was two new pairs of PJs

Post chemo will be new boobs Grin.

Can you please nag e tomorrow to call bcn to sort out surgery discussion. Am hiding in denial at the moment.

Lilymaid · 07/11/2013 17:28

Gigs - I've followed the Archers for rather more years than I dare recall. I remember listening at university (where my house mates used to kindly interrupt me by shouting "Shula shags sheep") and have followed it on and off ever since. DH loathes it, so I usually listen to it when he doesn't have to hear it as well!
I went off to have my portacath flushed/bloods taken/bone injection this afternoon. Nurse found the entrance (?) to the portacath on the 4th attempt (ouch). All my fault apparently for having a lot of flesh (somewhat less now than when treatment started). Now off back to see the breast surgeon - presumably to confirm what the oncologist told me - that I won't be having surgery at least at the moment. For that, I get stuck in my local town's infamous traffic jams ...

Tiny100 · 07/11/2013 17:44

Raising a glass of Wine to Betsy, Happy Birthday!

Malt - Yay, it's your last chemo. Well done on getting through it all. What's planned next for your treatment?

Handbag - How are you now? I had an awful time on my first round of EC and was hospitalised due to sickness. My anti-sickness meds have now been changed and I have the Emend pill which KitKat and Betsy told me about. The pharmacist said it was, and I quote, 'the magic pill'. I have round two tomorrow, so will report back.

Weebarra - Red wee - are you on EC too? Well done on doing the school run - hope you have managed to get some rest today.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Tiny100 · 07/11/2013 17:47

I forgot to add yesterday that after one round of chemo my Onc can't find my tumour or the enlarged lymph gland! I had a prod too and can't feel it - it was bloody big before! Grin

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 17:56

good idea on the pre-chemo present Gigs

I'm PP series 4 - just done Bizzie's wedding and death and the book launch. I thought I would rush to buy Greys series 9 but think I will stick with PP until I finsh what I've got. All good viewing for chemo girls and sleepless nights.

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 18:02

What exam is dd doing topsy?

Will plan a weekend away gigs but need to know dates of op and radiotherapy 1st, boots great idea !

Tiny I have a node clearance op in about 4 weeks as when I had the lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy in June they found cancer in the node :( then radiotherapy after that, 3 weeks worth I think

Foo foo will nag you tomorrow I'm good at nagging !

Feeling ok here but SEs don't usually kick in for a few days, am pleased with how smoothly everything went today compared to last week though Smile

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 18:31

Greys 9 is on sky on demand if you have it. Ooh bizzies funeral was good when Addison had her personality transplant Grin.

Topsy it's ok to be proud- sounds like dd done all she can? Will she go to ds school if she passes?

Iily long time on/off listener too- can still get emotional about some stories. Johns death for example. Could bore for hours on favourite/hated characters too.

Feeling bit crap again so can't see me making it out of bed today.

Tiny100 · 07/11/2013 18:33

Malt - what is involved with node clearance? My Consultant mentioned to me that I would need to have this done, but I don't know much about it.

Lilymaid · 07/11/2013 19:21

Just seen the surgeon. He did an ultrasound and is happy with progress. He favours radiotherapy (Oncologist is 66% in favour) to zap more of the cancer but is not planning surgery at present! In his words "I should get away without it".

Happy birthday Betsy - hope your tastebuds are coming back and the nausea has gone away post-chemo!

topsyturner · 07/11/2013 19:34

Lily that's great news !
Celebration time for you tonight ?

It's the 11+ (called transfer test over here) that DDs doing .
And yes we are hoping to get her into the same school as her brother .
But I have told her , it doesn't matter how well she does . We will be proud of her for just trying her best anyway .

No results till February , so once the test is done , we will just have to forget about it for a while !

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 19:36

Lily that sounds promising Smile
Tiny I don't know much about it yet either, only that they said they would remove the nodes and they would show either that there was no cancer, that there was scarring so the cancer had been zapped by the chemo or that cancer was still present but removed !

Tiny100 · 07/11/2013 20:20

Well Good Luck with it all Malt, hope you get your date through okay and don't have to mess around chasing things up.

weebarra · 07/11/2013 21:28

I'm assuming I'll need node clearance too as I had cancer in the nodes in both sides. Not been discussed yet though.
Yes, Tiny, I'm on FEC-T, 4 cycles of each.
Went in for my post-chemo injection today and did it myself. I'm a fatty at the moment (well, DD is only 11 weeks!) so it wasn't a problem.
Nurse did say that Onc may want to rethink my anti-emetics - I am on loads though, including Emend, Domperidone, Dexomethasone and another lot that I got IV pre-chemo.
Managed most of the school runs today (I have three trips there and back) but asked a friend to get DS1 this afternoon, I was knackered.
Archers fan here too - don't get as much time to catch up with it as I would like, so one of my chemo plans is to listen to the omnibuses (omnibi?!).

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 21:48

Well done on getting all those school runs done Weebara - that's almost a full time job!!

Re sickness meds I had the ones you listed plus Ondanestron and when we halted chemo in the summer I was about to get cyclizone as well plus some sort of sedative (I think someone metioned earlier in the thread - Laraz something) so they still have plenty of options for you.

Lily - what surgery are you not having? But good news.

Tniy - that's amazing quick shrinkage - makes it feel worth while Smile. And I said it yesterday but remember to take your Emend 1 hr before start of chemo tomorrow. I am sure you'll notice a huge improvement on last time.

I am all set to try a sleeping pill tonight - don't know why it's such a big thing for me really but have got to try something to see if I can break the pattern.

foofooyeah · 07/11/2013 21:54

gigs sorry you have had a rough day .... Rest up and hope tomorrow is better.

kitkat1967 · 08/11/2013 07:25

morning - weel I slept last nigh Smile.

Took what is effectively a half dose of the sleeping pill and had no trouble getting to sleep - I then woke at 4 (and thought here we go again) but actually just turned over and went back to sleep until DHs alarm woke me. Also feel perfectly fine this morning so I was worrying over nothing - will def carry on for a few more days. I have 21 pills so they will take me nearly until the end of chemo if necessary.

Hope everyone who had chemo this week is OK this morning and SEs are manageable.

I'm off to orthodontist to get DDs retainer now - she already has a bonded retainer fitted behind her front top 6 teeth so I'm hoping with everything they will stay in place as they are perfect at the moment.

malteserzz · 08/11/2013 07:41

That's great Kitkat was wondering how you got on, meant to say make sure you swallow them quickly as they taste foul !
I slept till 530 probably steroids walking me early but nothing planned today so can rest

BetsyBoop · 08/11/2013 07:56

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday. After a busy day preparing for DS's birthday/party on Saturday I ended up falling asleep on the sofa ! possibly helped by a couple of glasses of cava, I'm a real lightweight these days Had a lovely birthday tea though, of Chinese duck pancakes and carrot cake (some of my favs)

Will catch up on thread after school run

Lilymaid · 08/11/2013 08:29

Back on the anti nausea pills, having foolishly decided to abandon them the day Onc told me I wouldn't need more chemo for the moment. Since then I've rely more and more sick so have now decided to be sensible rather than stupid!
KitKat I haven't had any surgery at all, just chemo, now on hormonal pill, most probably have rads in the New Year. That's not to say that I won't have an MX in the future but surgeon reckons that I have a very good chance I won't.

Gigondas · 08/11/2013 09:51

Glad wee is a fan too- I won't start any archers chat til you catch up.

Tiny good news on shrinking.

Lily - are you ok once meds kick in?i am but have no appetite.

Kitkat Smile that tabs worked.

How you feeling malt?

My fever gone so I do feel tired but not sick or flu like. Going to risk trip into see therapist and pain dr so hope all ok . What's everyone else doing?

BetsyBoop · 08/11/2013 11:46

Glad you are feeling a bit better gigs.

Lily - sorry you are still feeling nauseous, mine has only ever lasted a week or so after each treatment, it must be grim to still be feeling sick (are you sure you aren't pregnant Grin)

Tiny - great news on shrinkage :)

Kitkat - glad you had a better sleep

Wee - I eventually ended up with all the ones on your list + ondanestron and cyclizine - no vomiting - still very nauseous but manageable. You are amazing doing school runs so soon, I couldn't do that until about day 5 at the earliest.

malt - how are you doing today? I know it doesn't normally hit you just yet. One more time of post-chemo ickiness and the you are done. :) I was told similar to you re node clearance (which I'm having on RHS alongside mx) - nodes would either be clear/evidence of cancer that had gone/still cancer (hopefully none in the latter category!)

Well I've been busy again this morning getting sorted for DS's party
jellies made - tick
cake iced - tick
biscuits made - tick
fairy cakes iced - tick
now sat with my feet up as ankles are swelling up again after being stood up too long :( I am really glad I got chemo out the way before kids birthdays (DD's birthday is 13/12, so hopefully recovered enough from mx by then!)
