Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

Grrr..... Def trying a sleeping pill tomorrow night - am wide awake Angry, even earlier than usual.

Hope you got home gigs.

BetsyBoop · 07/11/2013 05:42

Hope you have gone back to sleep now kitkat?

I've woken up early, grr

Last one today malt, woohoo. Hope you don't have any issues this time.

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 05:57

Nope - been awake since just before 3 - never mind tonight might be better with a sleeping pill. Still have thrown out a mouse and cleaned up blood!!

Yep good luck malt - make them give you piriton and steroids before this time.

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 07:15

I slept all night sorry, probably as didn't get much the night before
Try the pill tonight Kitkat I know it's a bit of a weird thought if you've never taken them before
I'm down for piriton today and I'm sure she said hydrocortisone as well ?
Last one woo hoo !
Hope everyone has a good day

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 07:41

Yay for last one malt GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Handbags hope you had a better night .

Kitkat grr about insomnia- can you have rest later or you going to try and stay awake so sleep tonight.

Am home but still feverish - blood tests showed no indication of infection but are waiting on blood culture results.

Am just going to laze around and drink apple juice as got raging thirst cos of fever.

Lilymaid · 07/11/2013 08:02

Morning! I've got two hospital appointments today. First for bone injection and flush of portacath (not been told it is coming out as yet), then an evening appointment with breast surgeon - though Oncologist has said that surgery isn't planned.
Commiserations to the insomniacs and those with nausea. I managed to keep my evening meal down yesterday by only eating 1/3rd of it. I manage better when we go out to eat so suspect it is largely psychological.

handbagsatdawn · 07/11/2013 08:02

Yay for Malt and last session (jealous).

Sorry for all feeling poorly and tired and crap.

Crappy nights sleep here and feel like I have morning sickness today. Have taken my last Emend, and my steroids but really struggling to keep food down. Nurse said to me yesterday that I must eat, hard when everything makes me want to go blergh! Can anyone give advice about more effective anti-sickness drugs for next cycle (please, please, please)????

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 08:12

Lily hope appointments go ok. I think there is a lot in eating that is psychological - I can't cope with huge portions as puts me off even trying.

Handbags so sorry it's so hard. I think topsy and gracie ( who doesn't post much now) ended up with drivers to feed them drugs more directly. I am hazy on details so hopefully they will br along but I do remember it helped a lot.

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 08:47

How are you getting on with Private Practice gigs? I am very addicted now (for which you are to blame!!). I'm well into series 4 due to lots of night time viewing.

Lilymaid · 07/11/2013 09:11

A few threads back there was a discussion on the post chemo handbag. I thought this was a great idea to reward ourselves for getting through it - but now I'm there I can't find anything online that I fancy (due to the fact that I probably need a suitcase for the amount of stuff I think I need to carry around with me). Anyone had a post chemo present or celebration?

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 09:32

Hi Lily - I'm plannig a post chemo handbag (will probably wait until after Xmas though). Started looking at Mulberry bags but to be honest I son't love (apologies to anyone who does) so am looking for inspiration.

Funnily enough my DM asked me on Tuesday if i'd like a Cambridge Co satchel for xmas - so that was a big yes please. Bless her she is 74 but had seen the adverts and thought they looked nice. She even measured my new tiny work laptop so she knew what size to order!!

weebarra · 07/11/2013 09:40

Well, day one post-chemo and not too bad. I did end up hugging the toilet last night despite the oodles of anti-emetics but much better this morning, I just have a background nausea like a combination of morning sickness and a hangover.
Also managed to do school run. Have to go back in today to have white-cell boosting injection which the nurse will teach me how to do myself. At least I have plenty of post-baby fat to stick the needle in!
Congrats on last session and hope the appointments go well Lilly and that Gigs you feel better soon!

smee · 07/11/2013 09:42

Last Tax for Malt, yay!!! Smile Smile

Wishing everyone else an okay day. Sorry not to post more, in a rush..

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 09:52

Sitting here with last tax going in ! They found a vein 1 at time today and no reaction so far :)
Betsy is it your birthday today ? FB tells me it is. Many happy returns if they are right ! X

BetsyBoop · 07/11/2013 11:13

It is malt yes, so thank you :) Bit of a non-event these days though since DS had the temerity to arrive on 9/11 (he was due 30/10 and DD was 3 days early...) - eg I have spent this morning baking a cake and `24 fairy cakes and wrapping up a pass the parcel for HIS birthday Grin

weebarra - my DH took great delight in giving me my injection - tis really easy especially if you can pinch more than an inch. As you were sick make sure you ask for more anti-e's next time.

handbags - I ended up with Emend (3days) + a double dose of ondanestron (8 days) + cyclizine (8 days) + something in the cannula pre-chemo (sorry can't remember the name now) and the obligatory steroids to finally get my vomiting under control (still had a week of morning-sickness-like nausea, but I could just about cope with that!) - However different drugs work for different folks and as gigs said some folks end up on a pump-driver - my onc was really good at trying all he could to make it bearable - just make sure you spell out how bad it was. I found it useful to keep a journal of how I felt each day - it's easy to forget and it helps when talking to the onc and also for you to know you'll feel better by day x next time.

reallyreallyworried · 07/11/2013 11:30

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETSY hope in between planning your sons birthday, you enjoy yours too Cake Thanks Wine have a great day!

malt CONGRATULATIONS on your last Chemo Grin hope all goes well.

handbags and gigs hope you are both feeling better today.

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 11:56

Happy Birthday to Betsy

topsyturner · 07/11/2013 12:46

Handbags I had a syringe driver for 5 days post chemo .
It pumped a low dose of anti sickness drugs into me 24 hours per day for 5 days .
They attached it to me whilst giving me my chemo .
And it was a miracle !
Nag , nag , nag your Onc for this !!!

Post treatment pressies are a fab idea .
My post mastectomy pressie to myself was my fave gold queen bee necklace .
My post chemo pressie was a pair of golden apple earrings .
sensing a theme here , not obsessed with jewellery at all

topsyturner · 07/11/2013 12:47

And Happy Happy Birthday Betsy
Hope you have a fab day !

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 07/11/2013 13:24

Happy Birthday Betsy, hope you have a lovely day.

Malt hope last chemo goes well. I can't wait to be at that stage!

handbags I can only send sympathy, as my meds work OK for me. My regime is: Emend 1 hour before chemo, and for next two morning; Valoid (CYCLIZINE) over following 3 days, perscribed for 1 three times daily but told that I can them during this time if I feel onset of nausea. I also have perscription for Lorazepan, which is a valium type drug, which I can take 1/2 tablet twice a day if needed. I have only taken that twice, but it made me very sleepy (so used it as sleeping tablet), but seemingly works very well on nausea. Hospital also gives me that prior to my chemo. (Depending on chemo nurse, it is optional to take it, incase I dont want to be too sleepy going home to kids).
But it sounds like you need something stronger, like what topsy describes.
Regarding eating, during week after chemo, I eat very lightly. I am trying to get in protein and some fruit mostly. Yesterday, I had poached egg on one slice of toast, a very small apple, and a chicken drumstick with peri peri sauce. Well spaced apart. Washed down by water for peppermint tea. Next two weeks, I'll eat more normally.

Weebarra You are doing fantastic. School run on first morning after chemo! Don't forget to take it easy too, if you can.

My post chemo present to myself is a big party! At an auction just before my first chemo, I 'purchased' a band for a night, to be used within next year. One of the band is a good friend of the family. I'm going to invite both families and the friends who have given me so much support. With big bouncy castle for the kids. It wont happen until a month or two after my rads. Hopefully June/July.
My sister just finished rads in Sept. Her post chemo present is a trip to New York, she left for her trip this morning. (Now I've totally outed myself if anybody knows me)

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 13:45

Betsy hope you manage to do something nice today for your birthday Smile
All I want post chemo is a holiday but guess if will have to wait till treatment is all finished so maybe February hslf term, hopefully will get in a nice weekend away before then though Smile

kitkat1967 · 07/11/2013 15:00

Hi Malt - do you have destination in mind or will anywhere sunny do?

I think I may have to wait until Easter hols before I get to go away - or perhaps I will delay my return to work until the end of Feb Wink.

malteserzz · 07/11/2013 15:33

Anywhere hot would do kitcat !
I just need a sunbed and a cocktail :)

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 16:01

Yay for malt finishing Grin. Can't you start holiday planning now? Weekend away on rads very doable.

Betsey happy birthday!!

I think not only post chemo but pre chemo present- have just bought myself some new uggs which have just arrived.

Kitkat- yes have finished private practice (have you got to big Amelia plot line yet?) and onto series 9 Shock of greys. What am I going to do when have finished? Fortunately have found a French version of downton - it's set in a 19th century bordello so you can imagine how child friendly it is Wink.

Gigondas · 07/11/2013 16:08

Oh and been in bed all day (asleep for most of it) but fever seems to be gone this afternoon.
