Apologies for the bingo reference, couldn't think of a witty title but the other thread is very nearly full.

In honour of our new thread I have piled extra apple pudding on the trolley so tuck in :)

Betsy One thing I do know is that I'm not pregnant ... already had the menopause once, now the hormonal tablets will replicate it again!
*Gigs" - I'm still not great once I've taken the meds. But I am sure it is psychological to a considerable extent. If I am busy at work or go out, I don't feel nearly as sick! Hope you have a better day today.

kitkat1967 · 08/11/2013 12:36

Lily - there is def a psychological element to the sickness if you've had it for a while. In the summer I could not shift my FEC nausea until the onc rang and said I wasn't to have any more chemo for the time being (had expected another 3 cycles) and I woke the next day completely nausea free Blush

kitkat1967 · 08/11/2013 12:39

are you having a party at home Betsy?

malteserzz · 08/11/2013 13:04

Betsy you have been busy I'm sure it will be a great party :)

Kitkat how did you get on at the orthodontist ?

Gigs glad you're feeling a bit better and are able to go out today

I've been very lazy and done nothing this morning but sleep, watch tv, read and have a bath ! Feeling ok apart from being tired and have a friend and her dd coming round later

kitkat1967 · 08/11/2013 13:19

All OK at orthodontist thanks Malt - the retainers fitted OK (I know sometimes even after 1 week without braces the teeth can move). She has to wear them full time for 1 week then reduce down to night time only. She went off to school delighted with them Hmm.

smee · 08/11/2013 13:38

Ooh yes, sickness can definitely be pavlovian. I had to just look at the cold cap and would throw up. Not sure how you fix it though, Lily. Sounds horrid.

Tiny, wow on the shrinkage! Smile Smile

Betsy belated birthday greetings for yesterday.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, Gigs.

Braces bring back memories, kitkat. I wore them for about 18 months. Am hoping DS won't have to as he's such a drama queen.

Topsy not surprised your kids are clever. have to be to survive you Grin

Malt, hope you feeling okay after Tax yesterday.

Too much work here. Drowning and eating remainder of halloween chocolate. Not a good combination.. Hmm

trice · 08/11/2013 14:36

I am just emerging from painkiller haze, I haven't caught up with the thread yet. Brain not yet functioning but lungs getting better.

Everyone seems to be cracking through their chemo cycles. I am on 9 of 10 so a bit of relief is in sight. Swapping to Femora for a bit, has anyone had this? I am so happy that I am not going to be nauseous over Christmas!

trice · 08/11/2013 14:43

Femara I mean. Stupid autocorrect.

BetsyBoop · 08/11/2013 14:57

trice! Lovely to hear from you, glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better :) I've been thinking of you and wondering how you were doing.

kitkat - yes the party is at home - six 5/6 yo boys...seemed like a good idea at the time!

hope you manage to resurface from the work smee :)

Lilymaid · 08/11/2013 15:09

Trice I've just been put on Femara aka Letrozole. Is that the same as yours? I've only taken it for 8 days, so can't really tell if I'm experiencing side effects. No hot flushes as yet. Still feel nauseous, probably post chemo (last chemo 4 weeks ago), no noticeable joint/muscular aches, I've got no hair to thin at present and I'm already on Calceo to maintain bone density as I have bone cancer as well.

malteserzz · 08/11/2013 17:32

Smee I'm fine so far thanks just tired hope the Halloween chocolate was good and you've got all of your work done

Trice good to hear from you Smile

Anyone got plans for the weekend ? Not much here though the kids are busy with d of e walks, swimming and football

Ds said this morning it looks like my hair is growing back ' but it's grey mum ' . Thanks son !

Lilymaid · 08/11/2013 17:57

My hair is starting to grow a little but I've got white fluff (I know I'm old, but not that old) and the shaved but slightly growing darker hair (with loads of grey), which is also growing a little. I can see that the wig will be on for some time to come. May be able to give up the night time Buff in a couple of weeks, but I can't see myself without the wig (for going out) or usual Buff day time around the house for several months.
I think the leg hair is starting to grow again ... could do without that. And then the moustache and beard will appear!

reallyreallyworried · 08/11/2013 19:03

Hi all

So I have my first dose of FEC on Monday! I finally discovered today at 3pm. There has been a serious lack of communication, my BCN was sooooooo apologetic, she thought the unit had informed me, and they assumed she had! Oh well less time to worry about it. I am just glad it's starting, sooner I start the sooner I finish.

I'm taking the week off work, to see how things go and how I am feeling. Then fingers firmly crossed I will get back to work. We shall see.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Xxxxx

malteserzz · 08/11/2013 19:34

Lily yes bet the bits of hair we don't want will grow back 1st typical ! I've not lost all of my head hair due to the cold cap but haven't got a lot, really miss my eyelashes

Really I'm glad you know now and you haven't got long to wait, have they done your pre chemo bloods ? Don't forget you can ask us anything. You know about the red wee lol ?

reallyreallyworried · 08/11/2013 19:49

Thanks malt had bloods done when I saw oncologist. But I am sure they will take more on Monday! Yes I did read on here about the red wee! Although having had the blue dye injected before surgery, and waking up to Green wee, I am not surprised by anything anymore!

I had a chat today with the children I look after. Just to pre warn them about hair loss, and the eldest looked slightly concerned and then asked if it would grow back. The youngest gave me a cheeky grin and said, but you can still look after me! Bless them. Nice to know that nothing will really change, as far as they are concerned. Oh and they would like to choose a scarf or hat for me Hmm could be fun! Good job I have a good sense of humour!

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 08/11/2013 19:58

DD2 just saw my shaved/bald head for first time. She thinks I look like an alien!

Lilymaid · 08/11/2013 20:15

Mom I considered whipping off my wig as a "trick" if trick or treaters came round on Halloween. That would have got them screaming!

malteserzz · 09/11/2013 09:12

Morning all
Did everyone sleep ok ? My teddy bear mattress cover arrived yesterday as recommended on MN so had a lovely soft snuggly bed last night, still woke at 530 but went back to sleep

Really and mom I think the hair loss is a shock for children at 1st but they do get used to it

Lily I thought the same about Halloween !

Watched my sisters keeper last night which was v sad, we were both in tears at the end. Will watch X factor tonight instead !
Hope everyone has a good day x

Gigondas · 09/11/2013 09:19

Oh no malt-I can't do sad films. Slept well here and feel ok if tired. Had bit of blip yesterday as went out to see dr(got painkillers tweAked again but doseage does seem better as arm hurts less) . Was ok but tired so had rest -of course when I woke up I hAd fever again. Luckily paracetamol dealt with it but amHmm about it.

Out for dinner with friends later but dh at rugby this Afternoon so I will enjoy lazy day .

For those not on FB,I am doing a list of addresses (with names/mn names). If you want to be on it/want a Copy please pm me.

weebarra · 09/11/2013 11:12

Bit tired and yucky here today, bone pains from the white blood cell boosting injections kicking in a bit.
Off to meet two good friends for lunch then to pick up wig.
PILs over tonight as they go off on a post-retiral round the world gallivant on monday.
Hope everyone feeling well today.

Gigondas · 09/11/2013 11:46

Weebarra that bone ache is horrid but I remember I only really got it on first cycle last time.

Look forward to hearing about the wig.

Xmas card info list done with all info I have so please let me know if you want to be on it (need mn name, real name, address )

handbagsatdawn · 09/11/2013 13:51

Hello just popping by to say hi. Post chemo fog is lifting now thank goodness, actually drove today and have more energy and appetite. This will need to keep going if I'm to stick with the 14day cycle.

Hosp phoned yesterday to confirm they have reviewed my anti-sickness meds for next cycle, so hopefully next one will be better. I've got to take Lorazipam (sp?) the night before and morning of next chemo - presumably that will mean I will just sleep through the whole lot (with any luck) as they zonk me out.

Having portacath put in this week - hopefully will be ok, I know a couple of others have just had theirs put in.

Really - glad to hear you've got a date at last......it's crappy treatment, but a means to an end (or so I keep telling myself).

kitkat1967 · 09/11/2013 14:23

Afternoon - Tax truck has hit here today - I slept until lunchtime but still in bed as legs are refusing to contemplate any walking. Got a fireworks party this evening so will save myself for that.
Hope everyone else is well - Looks like a quiet day all round.

foofooyeah · 09/11/2013 14:24

Afternoon all, taking nine year old to football this morning was a wet and cold affair. It's his birthday tomorrow so he would like pancakes for breakfast, nandos for lunch, and Chinese for tea!! He is such a mini me!!

reallyreallyworried · 09/11/2013 17:48

weebarra and kitkat sorry to hear you are feeling rough. Hope you have had a nice restful day xx

handbags sounds like you are feeling better. That's good to hear xx

foofoo sounds to me like your DS has a perfect birthday planned! Boy after my own heart! Hope you all have a great time Grin Wishing him a very happy birthday Cake

gigs hope you enjoyed your lazy day. Hopefully now you will enjoy your night out xx

malt I watched the same film last night! I don't really know why, I have seen it before and I knew I would cry! Although I think sometimes it's something like that, that gives you a good excuse for a good cry! This coming from someone who has now cried twice at the John Lewis Christmas ad Blush

I am now snuggled up in front of the tv for the evening. Think I will enjoy a pizza while I still have all my taste buds in tact! Think I am ready for Monday now. Bought a new thermometer today, and got some ginger tea, ginger biscuits and some dry biscuits. Also bought some new hats! I think I am going to end up with the biggest collection of headware ever! I just couldn't resist Grin think after the last few months I deserve a little treat Grin

Right I shall leave you in peace! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend. Xxxxxx
