LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance
I guess I start..
My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Not terribly satisfactory but I can see there is not a lot they would do. Guess they are hoping it just heals again. I'd keep an eye on the temperature tbh

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 21:46

I felt that what hurt was swelling rather than wounds, as I only had one incision really, plus the holes for the camera etc and the Amazing Expandable Tummy Button. So I wonder if its worth thinking how else you could reduce the bruising with no anti inflammatories.

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 22:01

Has anyone else got less girly and willing to please, having lost their ovaries overnight? I am having quite interesting dreams, usually involving telling people to F off in some way.

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 22:10

The pain I was having was mainly bowel I think. Laxido, lactulose and glycerin suppositories have erm helped there. Still a bit sore.

I don't think I've got a tummy button plug.... How would I know? Sharp pain in my tummy button yesterday (made me cry out) and the wound is opened.

Non functioning ovaries mean I haven't noticed anything. I'm on Livial but am changing to oestrogen only HRT ASAP. I suspect I won't notice absent ovaries

shewhowines · 07/12/2013 22:15

odds keep an eye on it all. It does seem the norm on here to have complications Sad so you're just copying the others! Grin

I kept my ovaries beast so sorry, no unexpected telling people to F off Grin

Waitingaround · 07/12/2013 22:26

I lost my ovaries, but have been telling people to F off for years- so no change in my personality Smile
odds keep an eye on the bleeding- if it starts to smell- let them know ( sign of infection)

Waitingaround · 07/12/2013 22:27

Oh hello beast

spudmama · 08/12/2013 07:31

Welcome beast.

Crem sound like you had fab time at the xmas party. I have been invited to mine but don't want to go nothing to wear and don't want people wispering behind my back' well shes well enough for the xmas pary blah blah..

Still have my ovarys which means once a month i will also be telling people to f off Grin

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 09:35

How are you today Odds?

I'm on the sofa a bit knacked...having slept for 9 hrs ?? Never thought I'd be so happy to do so little

Waitingaround · 08/12/2013 09:54

How's the bleeding odds
I'm back at work tomorrow and very excited Smile

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 09:56

I'm having a complete mental block over dressings. First day I kept dry. Second day I showered and changed it. Today... Should I shower, get them wet, change every day? Why don't I know this?????

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 10:01

How many weeks has it been waiting?

Waitingaround · 08/12/2013 10:02

tired yours was laproscopic wasn't it?
In which case I would shower and pat dry carefully and then leave then leave uncovered.

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 10:04

Thank you

Waitingaround · 08/12/2013 10:06

8 weeks, but had a couple if infections which delayed healing etc also had lots of adhesions- bowel was twisted and trapped, bladder also a mess so lots to sort out internally. Op took 4 1/2 hours and required 2 consultants (cause I'm special)

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 10:07

Bloody hell!! Should you be back? That was a full abdominal op

CremolaFirCone · 08/12/2013 10:14

Hey waiting, do you feel ready to go back? are you doing a phased return?
I know what you mean about going to the Xmas party and not being well enough for work. Grin hope I get away with that ...
Tired as long as the wound is dry and healing , the dressing is not that important except to help keep infection at bay and make it more comfortable for you. Don't panic. If in doubt make an appointment with practice nurse at your gps. Mine was brilliant when things went a bit awry.

Beastofburden · 08/12/2013 10:24

Morning all, hope ODD is ok. Hello waiting and spud

Tummy button plug is not a technical term Grin. Looks as if you guys mostly have dressings. I didn't have any dressings at any stage, they just covered the wounds in a layer of superglue over the stitches. So the tummy button held rather a lot due to all the flab round there Blush. Sort of egg cup effect...

It did mean nothing was going to come apart, and it was waterproof. But it was a bit sharp round the edges.

My ovaries were fine but I have lost two friends to ovarian cancer so I asked nicely if she would whip em out while she was there.. I think at 52 there's not much point trying to delay menopause.

In fact one of the best things about today is I would normally be dealing with a period from hell and I am not...

Beastofburden · 08/12/2013 10:29

But Bowels.. Oh yes. The nurse told me the bowel hates to be handled, and of course it gets shoved out of the way to do the Op. So mine is sitting there in a big sulk, like Kevin the Teenager, moping and farting at me, and if I do something provocative like ask it to tidy its bedroom, or eat a green leafy vegetable, I get a storm of WHAT!!!! WHAT????? It's so UNFAAAAIR!!!! And a whole load of grief.

Nt constipated you will all be delighted to hear, but I think that is because I am not taking double iron any more, so the move away from black-green, ahem, subject matter has cheered it up a tiny bit.

shewhowines · 08/12/2013 11:06

All the best for tomorrow waiting I think 8 weeks would have been the right time for me to go back to work if I did any gainful paid employment and I had a fairly uncomplicated recovery. Mine was radical abdominal but had groin lymph nodes out too. Have a great time going back to the real world Xmas Smile

odd how is the bleeding?

I love the Kevin the teenager analogy beast My Kevin was a late developer. Wasn't a problem for the first couple of weeks but then rebelled big time and is still causing problems in our relationship now. Hoping it will move out and settle in its own place soon Xmas Grin

TiredDog · 08/12/2013 11:10

Lol at the sulky teenager bowel. Every time I ate I could feel it writhe and was in pain. It is mostly settled now. I'm having worse shoulder tip pain today though Confused

Waitingaround · 08/12/2013 11:18

Yep I feel ready- and am having a phased return-working till 2.30 each day doing admin type stuff, so should be ok. Bit of a trauma finding comfy trousers though Smile. Love the Kevin idea-mine is still acting up, as is my bladder- but I'm sure eventually they will behave. Hope odds is ok?

Beastofburden · 08/12/2013 12:12

Shoulder pain I think is the air leaking? Cos they inflate your abdomen so the various organs unstick and they can get at stuff, for keyhole, don't they?

Bit worried about odd :(

Oddsocksrus · 08/12/2013 13:29

Hallo all
Sorry, I've been asleep :)all night and then all morning :)
The bleeding is still going on but it isn't brown doesn't smell and I think is starting to thin out a bit.. It is still there though but nothing like the marker of being like a heavy period so I guess ok.
It's all very uncomfortable still but at least I'm not sneezing and coughing every 5 minutes like the last two days, phew!

OP posts:
thekingfisher · 08/12/2013 16:54

Odd Glad theres some improvement and you are feeling marginally better.

I've also got a cold but luckily just a blocked up/dribbly one not a sneezing/coughing one ( hopefully that doesn't start it off!)

Have been on day nurse as opposed to my normal paracetemol so haven't felt too bad.

We put up trees and decorations today as DH going to a friends wedding next weekend - which I am just not going to be able to enjoy fully so am not going - so really need to get him manhandling stuff today ( otherwise I would have done it)

Dressing the tree is MY job and cannot be delegated Grin
