I guess I start..
My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Planning a shower this morning. DP is suggesting a bath but I would need a crane to get me out. Moving is restricted to rolling, standing and lowering. No twisting or huge effort possible.

Planning to remove dressings and investigate the damage. I have fresh dressings for them.

Still keen to hear about Katy and the teeth

shewhowines · 07/12/2013 10:52

I was told not to have a bath, only a shower, as the risk of infection is greater!

odds I thought you meant the wound leaking. If it's just discharge, I'm sure it still normal at 11 days. I proper bled after my day surgery biopsy for a couple of weeks.

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 11:51

One wound is clean dry and looks beautiful. The other is looking sore and fresh but clean. The biggest in my tummy button has opened slightly and looks yucky but is not looking infected. Clean dressings on and I've sat back on the sofa.

Beautiful day and I want to go for a walk. The frustration starts here I think. The washing machine has blocked, the shower plug hole is slow and house is a tip. DP is lovely but has lower standards in housework than me and mine are pretty low!!! I feel well enough to do stuff. I've just asked the jailor if we can walk the dog later. Maybe is the answer...

CremolaFirCone · 07/12/2013 14:51

waves to all I am three weeks post a hysterectomy and oophorectomy done as I was 32 weeks "pregnant" with fibroids. Now on oestrogen only HRT.

I was lucky enough to have mine done by keyhole surgery. Basically, they chop it up in situ and slurp it out through your tummy button. 12 hours post OP I was walking up and down the corridors, just a bit of paracetamol and diclofenac. No dressings, just dissolvable sutures and superglue, sorry I mean dermabond. I can have baths etc.

Also on the sofa, lovely and cosy.

thekingfisher · 07/12/2013 15:30

respect beast and welcome…..

How are you feeling generally - give Tired a guide…..

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 15:45

I feel fabulous!

The thing is, I was really anaemic beforehand, probably for years but I had got used to it. I am v squeamish so I got my nice surgeon to give me the blood transfusion during surgery rather than after it (cos there was this anaesthetist up the head end for three hours eating crisps probably and playing online poker, seemed a pity to waste him...).

So I got two luverly pints of someone elses blood (thanks whoever you are) and i have 13.8 haemo instead of around 8 and I feel ace.

Actually most of the soreness was bruising around the tummy button and then the sodding plug of dermabond which they basically pour into the new tummy button they make when they have finished pulling stuff out through it, and fill it up. So it sets in this kind of sharp plug. It fell out in the bath the other day so I can bend over now Grin.

I started walking an hour a day in week 2 and I am going up to 2 hours a day for next week.

I have the odd ache from what I guess is the cervix stump (the things you find yourself typing on MN) cos I hung on to the cervix to protect my pelvic floor. It doesn't hurt as such, more I think scar tissue is forming. The problem may be that I am healing in a "curled up on the sofa listening to music" position and I may never walk upright again Grin.

Main symptom is guilt at not doing my massive sessions of pelvic floor exercises.

Age 52 if that's of any interest.

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 15:54

Sorry- hour a day was from week 3, week 2 was more like 20 minutes.

(Have also been a bit vague bit either it is getting better or I am getting used to it)

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 16:12

On pelvic floor guilt, I bought one of those things where you have an inflatable probe, so i can actually find my pelvic floor, but not one of the slendertone type that promise to do it all for you. Does anyone know if those work?

And have you all been given the sentence I was - six months of three sessions a day, each session 90 slow and 90 fast pelvic floor squeezes? And then one a day forever?

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 16:16

Crem You rock Grin

...Predictive txt keeps changing your name to cremated which is a little disturbing

BOB that sounds good news and some bits are familiar. I keep having to remember to straighten up as I too will be healing in a foetal position He took my cervix which I wasn't too happy about from a prolapse risk pov.

I've walked...only for 15- 20mins and v slowly but nice to get out. I've been driven to my mums (30min round trip) which was a tad uncomfy, bought a new washing machine and am now in bed! That's it for today. I'm aiming to walk every day and build slowly.

I'm still smirking at Crems exploits. My work party is Friday which I'm attending but will be sat quietly in a corner!!

shewhowines · 07/12/2013 16:17

Hi beast Welcome.

I've just been told to do my pelvic floor exercises. No other advice. I'm not being as good as I should be... Thought with your "stump" you wouldn't need to do any!

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 16:18

No one has discussed it at all! I've seen those probes and would consider one if there were good recommendations. Would you let me know how you find using it?

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 16:23

Sadly not- I have got a cervix and it is all ready and waiting to plummet through the pelvic floor and create havoc. Not sure if the surgeon sewed it on to anything or if it is just sort of balanced up there, ready to start flopping about given half a chance.

My surgeon was female, blond, slender and Ukrainian. Part of this walking may be my shame at knowing she had to saw her way through all my flab...

Tired, exactly that. A walk is usually what I do to get to work, then I do 8 hours of gainful professional employment, ahem. Whereas now, a walk is what I do as my big activity for the whole day.

Waves to show and kingfisher.

Also v impressed by crems activity, I would find that hard even without surgery.

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 16:26

Will do with pelvic thing, but I have the non-automated version, so it gives what is politely known as "bio-feedback", which in English means you bung this balloon up there so you have something to push against. I have also bought those vaginal weighted cones for walking around with. Ill let you know.

What I didn't buy is the gadget that promises to stimulate the relevant muscles electrically while you just lie there and think of England. Cos everyone says slendertone don't work and its the same principle.

The physio said pelvic floor exercises commonly provoke either arousal or nausea. Guess which I get?

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 16:33

this one sounds good

I'm guessing not arousal BOB!

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 16:36

I heard that one was a bit sharp and plasticky. I got this one

www.kegel8.co.uk/kegel8-pelvic-trainer-91856.html

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 16:39

And these cones. And no, not arousal, but really, not sure I would welcome that three times a days or ten minutes just now.....

Oddsocksrus · 07/12/2013 17:44

she it is fresh blood! I've pulled some of the rectocele stitches I think! it hurts about as bad as day 2 Sad
There is quite a bit of blood, it drips as I sit on the loo, no fun at all

I have a number for the ward and I'll ring them later, they'll be feeding and changing shifts at the moment but I will see what they advise.

Buggery buggery fuck!

Welcome BOB, lovely to meet you

OP posts:
Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 18:00

Odd socks that is bad bad luck :(

Do ring the ward now, they can sort out their feeding regime, you need to get that bleeding back under control.

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 18:08

Tip for Tired- they sent me home with enough diclofenac for three a day for a week. I took two a day for a week instead, as they are eight hours apart which is far too much time out of bed. Glad I did, as I now have 7 left and I need them now my sodding cervix stump has woken up :(

Avoided codeine myself. I don't think it even works all that well and I can't be doing with the constipation and feeling sick.

TiredDog · 07/12/2013 18:52

Odd that sounds miserable and you should get the ward to advise.

I'm anti codeine based pain relief but can't take anti inflams. I think I'll just try paracetamol. The lovely jailor has just suggested I manage without cocodamol because I'm moving better (he's right) and just have some at bedtime. I'm still anxious because when it hurst ...it hurts.

Oddsocksrus · 07/12/2013 18:53

Ok, so I've rung the ward
They agree it's not good that I am bleeding(doh) but the wound should be fairly secure by now so it is unlikely I have unpicked anything...
I do have a slight temperature 37.6 but the amount of blood doesn't warrent going in apparently...
I have to ring tomorrow am if it is still at this level or more

I will be permenantly in the brace position all night then!
