Agree with malt- your mil would presumably say if you going would upset aunt.

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 05/07/2013 09:57

Sorry to see so many awake in the night :( hope you're all managing to rest today

topsy I think you should go especially if the DC are going as they might need your support :) think MIL was just giving you a get out of jail free card if it'd be too difficult for you.

Thank you everyone, I slept pretty well indeed and now just mooching in bed, feel a tiny bit sickly but nowhere near as bad as yesterday!

smee hope you and DS enjoy inset day, lovely weather for it :)

ned not insensitive, hopefully they can find a way to sort it all out so your return to full time plans aren't disrupted to much, :( for colleague

nj yay for new phone and leave!

malt another vote for dentist, best to just check nothing lurking as they can't do much while on chemo, plus gives them a baseline to see if chemo has damaged anything

jchoc I hope the X-ray goes well, sounds owchy :(

kitkat sounds lovely, enjoy the speeches and picnic

Waving to all

smee · 05/07/2013 09:59

Do what you want to Topsy. Surely they adore you, so it will be lovely for all to see you there. Sounds to me like they're being over sensitive/ worried about upsetting you. They're trying to be nice, but making it all worse! xx

smee · 05/07/2013 10:02

Waving to Gig - how ouchy are you today?

Good to hear you're not feeling too bad, Ruby. Can you get out in the garden? Such a lovely day, it might lift your spirits. Smile

Jane x-posted earlier, but hope foot x-ray ok.

topsyturner · 05/07/2013 10:08

Thanks ladies .
I'm going .
DH says it will be fine .
All I was worried about was upsetting the family .

Thanks again ladies .
Self indulgent Topsy today .
Sorry , normal service will be resumed later Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2013 10:09

I'd go if you want to topsy - it's kind of them to think of you

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 05/07/2013 10:57

smee yes I'm out in the garden, such a glorious day! :) just picked my first crop of shallots! Yum yum yum.

Not self indulgent topsy at all! It's very kind of you to think of them. Hope it all goes as well as these things can :)

jchocchip · 05/07/2013 11:01

Well done topsy and mrtopsy. Soon enough be done and a (non alcoholic?) Wine with your name on it.
Mning on bus to hospital lovely and sunny - good excuse for a couple of hours out of work Grin

malteserzz · 05/07/2013 11:06

Beautiful day
No letter again !
Went to the gp for more sleeping pills and she didn't seem surprised about the wait but I've started chasing it up, no joy yet

smee · 05/07/2013 11:37

Good move, Topsy. Think it's the right thing to go, or they'll just tiptoe round you forever.

Ooh love shallots Ruby, though they're a bugger to peel and chop. Fave recipe is broad bean pilaff. mmm...

Malt. Keep calling them. Honestly just nag. You've been patient enough.

How are you today, MAS? Hope the sun's helping with energy levels.

Rock buns in the oven here. DS will scoff, but will keep a few for the trolley. Smile

jchocchip · 05/07/2013 11:51

Mmmm rock buns! Haven't made those in ages. Maybe later :)
Went to cottage hospital for xray and got in before appointment time so on way back to work now. Two weeks for reselts though :(
Have to finish a set of forms, then its the weekend :)

topsyturner · 05/07/2013 12:46

I don't drink anymore remember ?
Wink

Service done , off to grave yard now .
Then wake back at the house .
So far , so good !

malteserzz · 05/07/2013 13:03

Bcn has took my details and is ringing me back but she said at the moment it is taking about 4 to 6 weeks to start chemo from being told you need it, she said to remember it is the summer holidays !
Trying not to think about what could be happening in my body with this wait
Should have had private health insurance I thought with cancer the nhs would be ok
I'll let you know what she says when she rings back
Topsy glad it's going ok
Jchoc glad scan is done
Love to everyone else

malteserzz · 05/07/2013 13:09

She rang back I now have the name of my oncologist and she's asked the dept to ring me but if they don't I'm to ring them on Monday

smee · 05/07/2013 13:10

Well done, Topsy. Smile

Malt, I don't imagine for a moment that the cancer stands a chance of grabbing hold in that time. Remember it's already gone? They took it, so this is just belt and braces. Impossible to accept I know, but v.probably true. Only annoying thing is having it all ahead. You must just want to get on. Hope she rings soon. x

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2013 13:11

am sure the delay won't make a significant difference malt just frustrating -and really they should be a lot more efficient.
smee am drawing pigs, sheep and cows - will do more later as it's lunch time (some nice Sussex bread toasted with the remains of taramasalata) - am collecting S from school and walking her home. T went crossly to the new college as he wasn't feeling v well, but I thought he should go to see what's what- he can come home and lie down with a few treats at 3- (must go and buy some treats)

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2013 13:12

smee's right - the cancer is out and the chemo's the mopping up..
Hope the wake is ok topsy

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 05/07/2013 14:07

Hi malt all my cancer came out in the op but was fairly aggressive and in two nodes, I started chemo 12 weeks after op :) Dr W said 12 was ideally the max but he would've gone to 16 if necessary - I needed emergency stoma reversal before starting chemo. I know it's different but don't panic yet, I took it as a sign they weren't that worried :)

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 05/07/2013 14:07

No cold things not great in this weather so am experimenting with a mini milk! :)

malteserzz · 05/07/2013 14:13

Thanks smee Mas and ruby part of me wants to just get on with it but part is just making the most of it before it starts !
Hope the mini milk goes down well ruby Smile

Gigondas · 05/07/2013 14:48

Agree that waiting wont matter but not being able to plan much is annoying too.

Smee- aches aren't great - they aren't worse but aren't better either ( I am so stiff and weak), I had a bit of a cry on dh about it as am pretty much housebound/bed bound and at minute have no energy to try to get stronger.

Ruby enjoy that mini milk and the sun. I am labouring through a chocolate milk.

BetsyBoop · 05/07/2013 14:57

Couldn't get on here earlier today, but think it was a general broadband slowness issue and 3G was sooooo slooooow I gave up...

well done topsy

malt - the ladies are right, the cancer is gone already, the chemo is a mopping up job, but that said don't forget to remind them about the NHS 31 day pledge Wink

ruby - glad to see you are feeling better today

to everyone else

Having a lazy day here. Nausea almost gone, but feeling very tired. Good excuse to sit on my bum and watch wimbledon while sewing on DDs beaver badges and mending her teddy again - so I will have a gold star mummy award when she comes home from school Grin

well school run beckons shortly, so must dash...

BetsyBoop · 05/07/2013 14:59

x-post gigs - :( I hope you are feeling better soon

Copthallresident · 05/07/2013 15:57

gigs Big hugs, your body has been through so much and it is so frustrating when the treatment knocks you back but you know that with rest and patience you do recover.

malt My private treatment delayed chemo six weeks to give my body chance to recover from the mastectomy, and then a week more to try and get my WBC up, then every treatment got delayed too. It is almost so common as to be normal. As others say it is just insurance in any case. Chase them but don't worry that anything is going to happen in the meantime.

I am rushing on here as have to plant some expensive cannas I sneaked into the house when DH wasn't looking and have to get them in the ground amongst my weedy ones and say "Look my cannas have come into flower. Aren't they nice" Wink

Off to see Robbie and Olly tonight

Sending good vibes to everyone who needs them. I wonder if Topsy will make it through an Irish wake with no Wine IME that is quite a challenge.
