Morning all
Betsy sounded like you had a lovely day :)
I'm awake waiting for the others to wake up, would like to get up and make a cuppa but would wake ds which seems a shame
Hope it's still nice and sunny today
Swimming was fine yesterday, my costume ( bikini days are long gone anyway) just covers my scar on my boob and you can see the one under my arm if I lift my arm but that's all

Lilymaid · 14/07/2013 10:11

DH has gone off to see his demented mother today. I (possibly selfish but I find her hard work even in cooler weather) have decided to forgo the 5 hours travelling involved and will get on with the washing at home!
Hoping for a nice sunny but not too hot day today.

jchocchip · 14/07/2013 17:29

Looks like its too hot for mn today! My Mum is hard work too lily, forgetful, notquitedemented and chairbound so everything has to be within reach. Have been clearing out a bit upstairs, making extra workspace for dd1 when she comes back here for uni.
Very very hot but at least heating off now and windows and doors open.
Happy Birthday copt looks like your village ooop north is having a gala day !

NedSchneebly · 14/07/2013 17:54

Good god, it's hot here. Resorted to taking DS to cinema to see despicable me 2, just to sit the air conditioning. . .

Hope everyone is coping ok in the heat where you are x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2013 18:06

vvv hot here too -did some work and am off to meditation at 7- we will probably do walking meditation in the Quaker garden, which is very lovely.
Happy Birthday dear copt !

Happy birthday copt Smile

KurriKurri · 14/07/2013 18:34

Hooting at Lilymaids muffs and Big Copt (love her style Grin)

Hope those on chemo are not feeling too bad today, and not finding the heat too oppressive.

Happy Birthday Copt - hope you had a lovely day, - also hope goon dog's rash clears up (old LD's skin problems are caused by allergies - we have spent an absolute fortune over the years on things to help her - she was on steroids for ages, but they affected her heart eventually, so now on antihistamines, and some sort of drops that replace something or other missing in her skin

MAS - good news about the scan - you are doing well, and drugs doing their job Smile

Waving madly to Ned - I love you dearly, and you know why Wink xxxx
Did little Ned enjoy the film?

Hope you are having a lovely time in Scotland Gracie - whereabouts are you?

I have done a bit of gardening today and a bit of knitting and generally pottered about sighing and saying 'scorchio' to anyone who will listen Grin

Love to all xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2013 18:51

thanks kk Smile
I'm sitting with my Peppa Pig ice pack on my chest - cooling off before I meditate.

It has been a very tolerable mid twenties with a lovely breeze here today .
Went book shopping with the DC .
Then home for a lie down in the garden .
Granny had other plans today , so we had to fend for ourselves , dinner wise .
Well I thought we did , till I found the steaks in the fridge that she had sent DH home with yesterday !!!
(I have a very lovely mil)

So now it's Antiques Roadshow , Top Gear , Law and Order Uk .
Whilst eating cream cakes that leapt into my basket in Sainsburys when I was buying veg and drinking coffee .

Hope everyone is having an equally lovely evening .
Gracie did you not want to stay in Belfast for the annual madness Grin ?
Malt hope the weather stays beautiful and the Pimms stays flowing whilst you are on your hols .

Anyone seen Smee about ?

NedSchneebly · 14/07/2013 19:59

Love you hugely too kurri - thanks for your lovely card Smile Flowers

DS loved the film - he kept spotting bits he'd seen on various trailers!

Mwah right back to you topsy hope you're ok x

Mas top news about your shrinking mets - yay and double yay and thrice yay!!!

Bored of hot now . . .

malteserzz · 14/07/2013 20:23

I've finished the pimms, had a swim and now having a glass of rose. The others are playing cricket outside, I played last night but was quite frankly rubbish so I'm leaving them to it ! Sometimes think its good for them to do things just the 3 of them so it's not such a change if I don't make it ( bit morbid sorry)
Had lovely day, took the ferry over to the isle of wight and did an open top bus tour round stopping off at various places :)
Sounds like everyone is okish which is good :) love to all x

graciesmall09 · 14/07/2013 21:18

Just lost my message. kurri lovely to see you. We are staying in the Trossachs where the views are amazing.

topsy would rather have my fingernails pulled out than spend 12th in Belfast Grin

Waving to you all x and happy birthday copt

notJenkins · 14/07/2013 21:56

Quick hello from me. Had a very busy weekend and late nights so am very tired.

Struggling a bit tbh. Cancer Tourette's returning nicely and hormones all over the place. Bloody disease. Feeling a bit sorry for myself so I will edge out before I start a self indulgent rant.

kk good to see you back. ned lunch soon I hope xx

topsyturner · 14/07/2013 22:17

Rant away nj
If not here , where ???

Gracie why do I always want to snigger like a teenaged boy when I hear someone say Trossachs ? Grin

malteserzz · 14/07/2013 22:36

I agree NJ rant away if it will help x

smee · 14/07/2013 22:51

I'm here, Topsy. Actually am doing a you, as am sitting here in my pants. Too hot..! Been running around like a loon doing a bit too much. Spent all day yesterday in the sweltering heat helping with the school fair, then had a friend staying last night (too much wine!). Today we cycled along the canal to a park to meet up with friends. All good, if a bit exhausting. Smile

Will have to read and catch up tomorrow, but definitely rant NJ. This is the place to do it.

Still v.delighted about your scan, MAS. I've been smiling all weekend. Smile

xx to all. Wishing you all lots of zzzz

trice · 14/07/2013 23:43

I hope the capecitabene works as well for me Mas. I have settled in to taking it now and it is not so bad. Fingers crossed.

I have skyped my family who are missing me almost as much as I am missing them. Ds lost a tooth and looks quite different, dd has swum a whole width under water and done her first dive. They are back on Thursday. Stupid cancer.

Malt, I did the withdrawal thing too, so they could all get used to my not being around. Twisted logic really. Now I follow them all around like a puppy and watch them sleep ('cause I don't want to miss a thing.... - Cheesy rock ballad). I am not rational atm.

jchocchip · 15/07/2013 08:17

Morning everyone! Brew and porridge done - can tell I'm at Mums! Going to try and sort some more stuff and chuck/ hide in cupboards to make more space here. Have put newspapers over black dashboard/ car seats in attempt to limit how hot the car is later...

jchocchip · 15/07/2013 08:20

Skype is great, trice. But I bet it makes you miss them more...
Hope you all manage to keep cool today x

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/07/2013 09:16

trice hope it does work for you too -and that it's tolerable- I just find it a bit relentless, but as long as it's working I really shouldn't grumble.
Am bored with hot and sweaty. Meditation was good, esp walking meditation which is very soothing - nice and cool outside in the shady garden, walking slowly among the Quaker gravestones. Apparently the 2 people who started the group up have decided it's not for them and have left (I suspect we were leaning towards the Mindfulness/Buddhist approach - I sensed a slight friction with one last week)But obviously the majority seem happy with it- I like it. Cold beer and crisps afterwards !
Am off to deliver my book illustrations to editor today,so that's another thing checked off, then winding down to holiday. Only 1 week's worth of tablets to take as I get the holiday week off- yay !
Did anyone watch the Rankin thing on the Culture Show on Saturday ? - I watched it yesterday on iPlayer- incredible and moving and interesting.

OP posts:
malteserzz · 15/07/2013 09:20

Jchoc good luck with the sorting
Trice it must be gutting for you but good that they are having a good time hugs
Smee calm down in the heat !
Still really hot down here, last full day before we go home tomorrow. Friend been feeding the cat and I told her to open any letters for me incase it was a hospital appointment. Nothing yet so I can see me having to chase that up again when I get home
Hope everyone stays cool and has a good day today

notJenkins · 15/07/2013 10:07

Good morning from me. I have not gone into work today could not face it.

great news mas about the shrinkage !

Hope you are enjoying Lymington malt

I may have my rant now if that is ok. I am fed up and struggling. It is sinking I that I had a vital partof my body removed and I need tablets to stay alive. I feel terrible as my cancer is curable and I should be grateful but I want to have an epic tantrum and stamp and throw myself on the floor and scream about how it is just not fair.
Now my metabolism is at the whim of a short smiley oncologist and nothing to do with me any more. My periods have started coming close together and regular so it looks like I am stuck with that. I am struggling with more pmt more often. Before all this happened I was a lentil weaver tree hugger type who would not even take a paracetamol so I hate the artificial metabolism.
Dont even get me started on the wait for the scan !

Work is a huge struggle as I think my brain is trying to process all the above and any additional stress sends me over the edge. I am on day 3 of being off sick and feel guilty and worried about running out of full paid sick leave as I will need a few weeks off for the scan ( my meds are stopped for a few weeks so I will feel terrible )

Sorry that turned into a long rant. I guess I need time to come to terms with it all and the waiting for the scan to see if I need more treatment does not help at all.

I am hoping a day of Jeremy Kyle and generall crap tv will help me. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/07/2013 10:35

big hug for you nj - it's not bloody fair is it ? (and agree about the meds thing- I hate taking things and struggled to decide about tamoxifen and then anti depressants - no real choice about capecitabine) I still avoid paracetamol !
Hope you feel a bit better after a day of relaxing. xxx
