hugs for NJ and a happy birthday to dd
What is it with caravan magazines ? there are tons at hospital

OP posts:
malteserzz · 11/07/2013 08:14

NotJ happy birthday to dd how old is she ?
Sounds to me like you need to see someone about your tablets you shouldn't have to put up with that no wonder it's affecting your mood
The blood thing is not your fault so don't dwell
Be kind to yourself today, rest up nice cups of tea and chocolate and take the day to build yourself up a bit mentally x

notJenkins · 11/07/2013 08:33

She is 8 going on 18 Grin

topsyturner · 11/07/2013 08:37

Urk , off for smear .
Wish me luck .
When I'm back I'll read and reply properly !

malteserzz · 11/07/2013 08:59

Lol at 8 going on 18 !
Topsy good luck it will all be over soon x

BetsyBoop · 11/07/2013 09:41

for notJ I agree with malt, it's worth asking again if there is anything they can do to adjust your meds. Happy birthday to your DD (I have an 8-next-birthday going on 18 DD too Grin)

urgh topsy the "torture" will soon be over. (I have often said to DH that men would never cope with what women have to put up with.)

Ok weird qu time. Did anyone else's boobs get smaller while they were on chemo? I know my lump is smaller, but both boobs look a bit smaller overall and there is room in my bra cup that definitely wasn't there before I'm sure. I only got this bra a couple of months ago and it was a very good fit at the time (In fact a bit tight if anything on the lump side). Now the top of the cup is flapping about unfilled Hmm Okay I'm a weirdo... Grin

Copthallresident · 11/07/2013 10:16

nj I am Angry at audible shrug, if you are feeling like this they should review the dose, or at least audibly head tilt Grin Seriously though it is so unprofessional to be impatient with patients.

Betsy the weight fell off me after diagnosis and continued through chemo so my breast did all but disappear, I ended up with the smallest prosthesis! but I don't know how much of that was weight loss or whether some was chemo. I always did have small boobs not anymore, too much cake

Topsy Hoping you have a gentle nurse.

Hoping gigs is less creaky today having loosened up laughing at Margaret who was on good withering eyebrow raising form, love her. Loved the new woman as well, although a bit worried that withering is gendered, the men savage, the women wither Grin I mean, Lord Sugar, sexist? Poor bloke , don't envy him the choice of business, serves him right, shouldn't have sacked Rebecca.

DH relatively sober last night Shock at home today, already annoying me and it's only 10 am, so far he has lost his belt, glasses and wallet. In all cases this requires huge drama of rushing around yelling "where's my" followed by me finding it in place he first looked....... I am off into the garden.

BetsyBoop · 11/07/2013 10:26

I should have added my weight is much the same (I'm down about 2.5kg since diagnosis) and my huge fat apple tummy is just the same, so it's not down to weight loss. I'm probably just odd or it's all in my head Grin

Gigondas · 11/07/2013 10:27

I am feeling bit less creaky thanks Copt (if you can hear me in the garden -am smiling at dh and his man looking). Have Physio appt on Monday so hope they help.

Margaret was brill but I hated Neil and was so glad he got the boot.

Nj- that's not good they were so dismissive and am sorry you have more work hassle.

Good luck topsy.

topsyturner · 11/07/2013 10:45

Done !
Was a bit Hmm when my doc removed her watch first .... Grin

She did say "I'm 80% sure I got the right place"
I'm always being recalled for another smear cos they haven't managed to reach my cervix .
Sigh ..... I'm never straight forward !

Off to buy pants for DH and DS now .
Life is never dull eh ?

topsyturner · 11/07/2013 10:48

Nj that's a bit off , the audible shrug thing !
I wouldn't be happy with that .

Copt think retreating to the garden is the better option than the one I would chose - killing him .... Grin

Gigs I just love Margaret's eyebrows . Never has a woman put quite so much emotion into one simple eyebrow lift !

topsyturner · 11/07/2013 10:49

Betsy I have noticed recently that my remaining boob appears to have shrunk too .
And I haven't lost weight anywhere else .
maybe I'm bonkers too

Gigondas · 11/07/2013 10:57

Sorry cant help betsy on shrinkage.

Just watching apprentice candidates thing- do they seriously expect us to believe everyone in Derry is talking about Leah in the apprentice?

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2013 11:24

well done topsy -what a star- I loathe smears and am a complete wreck during them. Have you a massive treat ?
Grin at removing watch- did you think she was going to plunge right in (eek) !
My irradiated breast is miles smaller than my good one so bras never properly fit

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2013 11:24

I do rather think Leah will win.

OP posts:
smee · 11/07/2013 11:33

Ooh well done on smear, Topsy. Though pants buying is surely not treat enough. Grin

NJ, happy birthday to your tween. Will there be cake later? Smile Why do they think it will be permanent. That's ridiculous and surely not true. If it's drug induced, they have to be able to counter it somehow.

MAS, your clips of DS singing is so lovely. Made me beam a smile. He looked so cool about it all!

Gig, is the energy returning, or are you still feeling very tired? Hope not too bad now. Must be dull and depressing to feel so low. Glad Margaret hit the spot. I haven't watched yet, so am desperately trying to avoid all media/ posts.

Betsy, I felt my whole body changed on chemo. I lost a fair amount of weight, but it was more than that. Also, your breast texture might well change as the chemo plays with the hormones - lots of the feel of the breast is down to what's whizzing round your body, so it might well be that.

Thinking of you today, KitKat. Hope your DD's intrigued and not freaked by it all. Willing that Emend to work too. Smile

Malt, have you got your seaside trip planned yet? Smile

Garden sounds mighty sensible, Copt. Is he going to be home full time from now on? Shock

I've just bought 200 ice pops for the school summer fair on Saturday. They're the prize for the Treasure Hunt, which I'm running. Must work out how to do that.. Confused

Copthallresident · 11/07/2013 12:57

smee Apart from the odd day here and there, he is playing truant as he officially finishes end of this month. His boss and a colleague have both resigned now as a result of the stress....... He is watching the cricket now, so feigning no signs of life , and I don't have to kill him Grin

So Topsy when Princess Frankenstein Leia opens her torture chamber lunchtime botox quickie clinics in yer city there, will you be first in the queue?

As Big Copt pointed out if she is 24 "A&E specialist / angel of mercy" she is not, she is a first year junior doctor and what the NHS has to offer is horrendous hours and being allowed to clear up sick, do all the dirty nasty jobs and be kicked about by Consultants and Nurses. No wonder she prefers to stick pins in people!

Gigondas · 11/07/2013 13:37

Energy coming back but still not up to eating much (throat hurts and appetite gone)-thanks smee. 200 ice pops ShockShockShock.

She works with domestic CEO (friend who was on here other day) bro - I think big Copt has the right of it . I think where she might have an edge is her medical (or medieval as iPad had it) background as there is a move to licence some of this exploitative pseudo science cosmetic procedures.

Pants buying? Living the dream topsy.

Am still Grin about Margaret.

KurriKurri · 11/07/2013 13:48

Afternoon all, - good thoughts to KitKat for todays chemo - hope all goes well Smile

well done on smear topsy - one of the great bonuses of having all my innards out at a young age (truly - I am and empty yet fat filled sack) was that I didn't have to go through the delights of smears any more. When I first started having them it was in the days of crusty old male GPs fossicking about in your nethers with ironmongery. Am assuming it is slightly less ghastly these days Grin
Good luck on Knicker puchases.

NJ - hugs for feeling a bit low (nurse doesn't sound very helpful Hmm) and happy birthday to NJ junior.

DD has gone into town to meet up with a friend who is at medical school and home for a few days, said friend is the same age as Leah and started med school at 18 - I cannot quite understand Leah's acquisition of so many qualifications, - DD's friend is still doing her internship stuff in hospitals and will be doing so for another 2 years or so plus still taking exams. Maybe Leah was fast tracked onto some sort of Boswellox injecting, lipofrightening course. Who knows? But clearly she has won Lord S over with her huge hair and intriguing pout.

I have just finished my online shop (a necessity as no car atm) - computer crashed just as I was about to check out, but luckily my list was saved - I couldn't have faced doing it all again!

Copt - I threatened my DH with one of those old lady cords to hang your glasses round your neck, as he seemed incapable of remembering where he had put them, he soon shaped up! Grin How are you feeling about having him at home all day? - It's nice that he's less stressed and enjoying the cricket.

waving madly to all - quorn sausage and scrambled egg available for lunch if anyone's interested, followed by lemon cake.

smee · 11/07/2013 14:03

Waving to lovely Kurri. love 'fossicking', though not what you describe. Grin

Copthallresident · 11/07/2013 14:09

I reckon Lord Surallun Sugarlumps has snookered himself. I can't imagine he would be in the least attracted to either proposition, it's not consistent with his usual pile em high and sell em cheap strategy but once his mate Cloughie failed to bite on the THINK UP A PLAN B hints written ten stories high in neon on top of the hills of Brentford he was stuck with them. Rebecca's fake diamonds would have been just up his alley.

malteserzz · 11/07/2013 16:08

Kitkat hope you got on ok today and that dd was fine
Topsy well done for braving the smear
Always felt guilty about not mentioning everyone but hugs all round
We've booked a few days away in lymimgton was really hard to find anywhere at short notice that wasn't extortionate and looked ok. Hopefully the sun will be out and we will have a good time though wont quite be the 2 weeks in Rhodes we had to cancel !
Am I allowed to swim its 5 weeks since my op ? Or do I have to paddle ??

smee · 11/07/2013 16:24

Malt, I asked my BCN yesterday when it was safe to swim and she recommended leaving it 4 weeks. Go swim! Smile

malteserzz · 11/07/2013 16:35

Thanks smee, it does seem all healed etc Smile probably do more floating and ambling round more than swimming lengths though !

kitkat1967 · 11/07/2013 16:38

hi everyone - am safely back from chemo. I did get Emend and feel so much better than last time - fingers crossed it lasts (got doses for tomorrow and Saturday) plus the usual meds as well.

Malt - if you do decided to go with the cold cap I will pass you some tips as this was also much better this time - no real hardship at all Smile

Malt - good news you've booked a short holiday - i can't see why you can't swim but maybe the others will be more knowledgable.

Topsy - good job on getting your smear done - enjoy your shopping.

Hugs to everyone else who is struggling at the moment,

I'm off to google Leah's age and qualifiations now (resisting the urge to work).

BTW - DD sat in the room and read a book - totally disinterested - preoccupied with where to go for lunch I think. Anyway she said she had a nice day so that's OK. And came home to find her report had arrived and it was great - I'm very pleased for her as younger DS is VERY bright and she often says she is not clever. In fact she is doing very well in a selective school but just not in the top set. And the teachers love her attitude and personality Grin
