For SoftStuff, tyedye and anyone else who wants to join.

The rules are that you HAVE to sign in every night to let us know TRUTHFULLY how much you have drunk. You need to let us know your triggers too. So if you resisted for 12 hours but then cracked and had a beer - what finally snapped?

We'll be here to give you encouragement, support, advice and opinions.

Hi Cubby. Welcome, please join us. Have you ever had an therapy for your eating disorders? Do you still suffer with that too?

The reason I ask is that many of these "maladaptive coping mechanisms" (not my words...as said to me by a psychiatrist!) all come from the same place, psychologically and emotionally. Many of us have additionally experienced traumatic events that trigger these disorders off. You probably know all this if you've had treatment but I think it would be worth a trip to the GP to ask if there's anyone you can be referred to.

I hope you feel you can share with us honestly about how you feel, and I very much doubt that you will be judged! Not by me anyway...I could write a book on my stupid self-destructive tendencies. I empathise, really!

Hi expat...nice to see you on our thread! I'm in Scotland too, but the poor neighbour on the West coast! I sometimes work in Auld Reekie though...lovely city.

Much love Kxxx

themoon66 · 12/05/2006 21:38

Cubby - Welcome! No-one on this thread is gonna judge you, no way! Your drinking sounds about the same as my units per week. Mine is consumed in cava and lager though. This thread has given me the strength to go 5 whole nights without a drink though which is a record.

I have to now confess (hanging of head) Sad that as I type this i'm actually on my 3rd can of Stella. I knew Friday night was gonna be the hardest. It was the Morrisons big shop what did for me..... 20 cans of stella on special offer. Worked out at £1.52 a litre. How can a girl say no??

Guess my trip to Ikea tomorrow is gonna be torture.

Sorry people.... I blew it. Will try harder next week... honest.

Better to drink something non alcoholic and enjoy it

blueteddy · 12/05/2006 21:43

I have managed to stay alcohol free tonight!

expatinscotland · 12/05/2006 21:54

tea here! :)

themoon66 · 12/05/2006 21:55

Well done all you alcohol free Friday nighters... you are all truely amazing. I'm pissed (can you tell?) I love everyone.

noddyholder · 12/05/2006 21:57

and here expat!I think any drinking'rules'like only 2 drinks or drink horrible wine to slow you down really is indicative of a much deeper problem.Non problem drinkers don't have these rules so they should be a sign to seek help I hope you all get through this because the other side of sobriety is fab xxx

themoon66 · 12/05/2006 22:17

Am stopping drinking now - no more. I am not enjoying it. Had almost 3 cans of stella and my head is pounding. All of you not drinking... well done, I wish I hadn't started tonight. Let me be a lesson to you Sad

expatinscotland · 12/05/2006 22:20

i agree, noddy. i used to have 'rules' too. and i always broke them all. Sad

dinosaure · 12/05/2006 22:31

I've had two small bottles of San Miguel plus half another bottle of lager shared with DH, so not too awful and I feel fine atm. No compulsion to carry on drinking, so that's good.

martian · 13/05/2006 13:56

noddy, I think people who restrict their drinking (like me) do know we have a problem, it's not like pretending there's not, it's just a way of not letting the problem get out of hand. After all it's better to drink only ever two cans of lager a day than 2 bottles of wine Grin

blueteddy · 13/05/2006 13:59

If you know you can stop after 2 glasses, that's fine. It is when you can't stop that there is a problem!

tyedye · 13/05/2006 15:08

blueteddy · 13/05/2006 15:44

I know how it is believe me! Sorry if I was too blunt - it is just that you sound so very unhappy.
I am the last person who should be advising anyone on relationship problems.
Has he tried to get help for the depression?

tyedye · 13/05/2006 15:48

Picked up anti-d"s today for him,as it happens! You werent too blunt honey,he is behaving like a pig,but its not usually this constant.
My life is what i "wanted"outwardly,"be careful what you wish for,you might just get it!"

blueteddy · 13/05/2006 15:51

Men can be pigs at times.Angry Best you try & stay out of his way as much as you can while he is like this.
Can you maybe get out for a bit?
