Shock @ 6 weeks. That's extraordinary, Fab. Why does it take that long??

JustFabulous · 15/10/2012 16:15

I don't know. That is when I have to go back and see him in clinic. He wants me to keep keeping the diary I have of the irregular bleeding so he can see if there is any pattern. There isn't one from what I can see. No polyps. The lining looked rough I think the registrar said, nothing sinister but they don't know what is wrong yet.

JustFabulous · 15/10/2012 16:19

Joke for MAS.

A snail has a toy car.
The snail asks the boy to paint the car with an S.
The boys asks "why?"
The snail replies "when I go past the people will see the S car go."

Made up 100% by FABBoy in a French lesson.

Grin.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/10/2012 18:41

arfsome joke fab - smart boy !!!
grrr though about wait for results

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 15/10/2012 18:51

FABBoy wants to know if he is going to be famous Grin.

I am still confused as to what is wrong with my womb lining.

amberlight · 15/10/2012 19:36

Just Fab, great joke by fab boy :-D
Hmm, I had similar with my womb lining. Had an ablation to sort it out.
But I'd finished my family, so that was an option.

KurriKurri · 15/10/2012 19:46

Grin at FabBoy's joke - and yes I predict he is going to be famous Grin
Glad you are home Fab and the op went OK, take it easy until the GA is out of your system - you will feel tired for a while. Shame you have a long wait for the results - that is a pain.

All was OK at the oncologists. he asked me when I was having my reconstruction and I said 'not yet, I'm too fat' at which he laughed as if it was ridiculous, then spoilt it by adding 'how much have you got to lose - about 2 stone?'
I also had 'running commentary' nurse - 'Oh that's right love take your top off,now your bra, put them there out of Doctor's way' and when I was getting dressed 'I'll just sort out your bra strap, it's all twisted, nothing worse than a twisted bra strap' (No? really? - you work in the oncology department you daft moo. Shut up.)

He's booked me a mammo in a couple of weeks, and I see him again next year.

Baskets - I do have an Amazon habit - my wish list is of epic proportions! But I am lucky because DH gets free Amazon vouchers for doing surveys for various companies at his work, and he gives them all to me Smile

KurriKurri · 15/10/2012 19:53

Oh meant to say, I saw a sad sight on the way into the unit today. Young lad in his early twenties, no hair from chemo, attached to a drip just coming out of the cancer ward and being taken for a breath of fresh air outside by a nurse. Sad enough such a young man being so ill, but worse - he was chained to a prison guard, with another guard following behind Sad Poor kid.

amberlight · 15/10/2012 19:56

Chained to a guard?? In hospital from (presumably) having chemo?! That can't be right....blimey....how awful for him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/10/2012 19:58

oh that is sad Sad kk
Glad onc visit was ok,though rude of him about weight and annoying nurse (I also dislike the way doctor is said like that,in the same way as midwives say things like 'that's not good for baby'
I'm not compiling the joke book sadly otherwise I'd slip a drawing of a snail car in Grin

KurriKurri · 15/10/2012 20:01

It was dreadful amber - obviously sick as in hospital pyjamas and coming out of the ward (they quite often take people out for a little bit of air if they have been in a while) it was a chain attached to a cuff on his wrist, and a cuff on the officer's wrist - about 3 feet long - like one of those leads you can get for stopping toddlers running off.
I mean a boy that sick wasn't going to be running away anywhere was he?, and if he tried he'd be so weak he'd be easily caught, you'd think they could unchain him.

JustFabulous · 15/10/2012 20:30

Sounds like protocol but who decides that that is needed when someone is so ill? Sad. Reminds me of the time a woman in labour was chained to the bed.

I am so tired. DS2 not happy about me not being able to do the school run Sad.

Birdland · 15/10/2012 20:48

Thanks so much for all your advice/suggestions. Definitely need to sort my diet out as I've lost my appetite during chemo although all the talk about shirtbread, violet creams and portuguese tarts has my mouth watering!

Kurri, I remember at my first ultra sound that the radiographer congratulated me on looking younger than my years (this was after telling me I probably had cancer)-I truly did not know how to respond.

smee · 15/10/2012 21:14

Shock at handcuffed man. That's awful. Sad

Though arf at your clever DS's joke, JustFab. Give DS2 a cuddle and plan a treat for when you're better. Always worked with my DS. Smile

And Fab, I haven't a clue what could be wrong with womb lining, but I'd say the Registrar saying 'nothing sinister' is something to hold onto. Still a bit shocked you have to wait 6 weeks, but the diary makes sense I suppose.

Hooray for Kurri, even though that nurse sounds mighty irritating. Just got to get through the mammogram now. Still, that'll be fine too and then you can beam the hugest smile and we can eat our weight in fbs to celebrate. Smile

I decided to duck out of the young women's cancer forum tonight and went for a run instead. All hugely life affirming, though DH nearly keeled over in shock. Grin

JustFabulous · 15/10/2012 21:41

Thank you everyone. I can't tell you how cared for I feel BlushSmile.

smee · 15/10/2012 21:46

That's why this thread is so wonderful, Fab. Smile

jchocchip · 15/10/2012 22:19

:) as the s car go joke, must remember that.

I've remembered that Kent is a very long way from Yorkshire... had a nice weekend with Grannies and Nan did seem to be pleased to see us and we even had her laughing a couple of times. done very little today, have to get up for work tomorrow morning :(
:( at the chained man

KurriKurri · 15/10/2012 22:24

I know I shouldn't really be shocked or surprised about anything to do with prison - being as my DS works in one and tells me this stuff, but it was horrid seeing someone who is ill in chains -makes you wonder if we are really a civilised society. I know from DS that medical services in prison are pretty rubbish, and prisoners often have to wait months to get dental treatment etc.

Birdland - you get some strange things said to you in hospital - no doubt about that!

Smee - well done on the run, very energetic - do you have decent weather? Envy it is constantly raining here.

Fab you are cared for my lovely, Smile

thegreylady · 15/10/2012 23:07

Did anyone watch 'Sing for your Life' tonight? It was very moving.

JustFabulous · 16/10/2012 07:44

jchocchip, small world. I live in Kent but am from Yorkshire.

I just couldn't sleep this morning and only got up to shower as I was so cold. I still feel so wiped out. Is that what a GA does to you?

Gigondas · 16/10/2012 07:56

Yes it does birdland - also can make you feel quite down as sometimes has an opiate in it so you get the come down.

NedSchneebly · 16/10/2012 11:54

Morning all Smile just been for a walk in the sunshine with my lovely mum. Very invigorating and nice to get out in the countryside.

We watched the choir thing last night too. Would have been interesting to see more about what tests they did and how the results had improved, although it was very interesting. I know I feel a real buzz when I sing, and really enjoy the way it makes me feel. I love it. Can you tell it's choir practice tonight?! (did I say I've been asked to audition for a solo for the Christmas concert? Quite chuffed to be asked after only having been to 2 rehearsals!)

justfab of course you're loved here - that's why being here is so important and it's one of the most important things we do for each other. Here, have a big hug Smile Clearly providing virtual snacks is a key responsiblity as well, and you are doing admirably on this score!

kurri good news from oncologist but Angry for his utter rudeness. . . I too have a scary Amazon habit - having Amazon Prime makes it all the more tempting.

smee good work on the run - have you got somewhere nice round you to run?

MAS how are you doing, lovely? Thinking of you lots x x

What's anyone else got planned for this afternoon? Hope everyone doing OK? Sending lots of love to everyone x x x

smee · 16/10/2012 12:15

Morning all - windy and a bit nippy here. Justfab, GA's can take a while to leave your system. I always feel a bit weepy after them, though can never work out if it's the drugs or relief the op's over. Curl up and let yourself recover. No rush xx

Ned, I run round all the Victorian roads round here in a zig-zag pattern, listening to R4 podcasts and peering in through people's basement windows. Blush How are you feeling?? Is your energy coming back?

Waving to all. Must get on, lots of work piling up...

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/10/2012 13:30

ned impressed by solo audition - how fab and lovely !! Also impressed by smee 's running...

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 16/10/2012 14:02

Smee - love the idea of running as a cover for having a nosy into people's houses Grin - I've only got boring old country lanes - no houses except the vicarage (I do tend to glance in there if I'm out jogging though (which doesn't happen often!), and often vicar's DH is cutting the hedge so I can look him over Grin)

Ooh Ned -very exciting about solo audition, - I hope you get it, - how brave you are!

Talking of things musical, can't remember if I said that my DD has been asked to be the accompanist for a very good local adult choir, she had her first rehearsal last week. She's very chuffed - partly because she gets paid Grin and also because she'd really been missing doing Christmas concerts and so on (when she was in a brass band, she was always very busy around Christmas time) I think this choir sometimes does trips abroad etc for competitions so she'll have good fun.

fab - you will feel very knocked out for a good few days - don't try to do too much.

Just had my driving lesson - it went a bit better this week, (although we did roundabouts and I'm totally useless at them - go into major panic mode - or as the instructor puts it 'undue hesitation and stalling' Grin).
Also its terribly windy here, and there are bits of tree all over the road - rather alarming!

Old lady dog got terribly excited when she went out for a wee earlier, she was trying to catch the leaves and being all puppyish, bless her Smile
