Kurri, I didn't think you were being nosey at all. Before anyone asks, I haven't a clue what he's planning to install in the desert, but apparently it's something to do with road signs. Fingers crossed he won't get himself arrested What a sweet story about your niece. Smile

Gig, have just remembered, but I was a bit hamster-on-a-wheel-like during treatment, so couldn't concentrate enough to escape through reading, or tv. In the end I taught myself to play the piano. Barely knew where middle C was before then, so it took all my concentration. Definitely helped me. though clearly I'm weird Hope you're feeling okay-ish tonight xx

graciesmall09 · 07/08/2012 20:59

Huge hugs gigs. It is natural to be feeling how you do. You have steroids too don't you. They are renowned for giving a huge dip when you stop them. I always feel quite sorry for myself about 2 days after my syringe driver comes down. Wish I was closer and I would take you for a coffee. I would even drag along my other NI cohort topsy as she is bound to cheer you up.

kurri I would hate to see what they do at your exercise class for age 20 somethings, like me reading what you did this morning tired me out I would have been totally comatose if I had tried that.

Not quite sure what possessed me to have salt & vinegar chiplets this afternoon and then eat cooked tomatoes at dinner - my mouth is now raw. Will have to look out my Difflam I think.

DH back to work tomorrow so I have 5 pick ups/leave offs starting at 8.20 am and hopefully back home by about 1pm. Hmm

overthemill · 07/08/2012 21:48

you all sound like you lead very exciting lives - rather envious at the moment! I've started thinking about a trip of a lifetime after all this (tho' heaven knows how we'd afford it) and have been looking at STA website - fancy the trip from st petersburg that ends in thailand. :-)
wept my eyes out today in my macmillan unit today as i popped in whilst in betwen apts to see if my bone arrow results were in. They were and I am clear (thank god) and i burst into tears. Alarmed dd but she was fab, gave me huge hug. It is SUCH a relief!

Gigondas · 07/08/2012 21:53

That's good news results were clear but I know it must be daunting for you but tomorow will be manageable overthemill.

Hadn't thought about steroids but got another dose to go (only take them mornings to eliminate the Vietnam effect). Also googled and found a very depressing blog so between that and kids contact was really quite low.

But my sis has been ace (did my nails and we watched a girly film) and spoke to dh later who admitted he is done in and work easier (I think the reality of quite how clingy six month babies can be hitting him- he used to think I was making it up when I said big gig was more needy when he was awayGrin).

And 5 drop offs- I can see you are mums taxi tomorrow gracie

OP posts:
KurriotsOfFire · 07/08/2012 22:01

So pleased you had good results Overthemill Smile that's brilliant news xx

Gig - stay away from google, right away - or we will be round to duct tape your typing finger. Girly films with your DSIS, and any edible treats you fancy have been prescribed by Doctor Kurri (BMed [Holby and Casualty])

My sister got stung five times by a wasp today - it got stuck inside her jumper and was stinging her as she ran into the house pulling her clothes off. Owwwww!

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/08/2012 22:09

owww - poor sister (was it the mad one ? or the nice one ?) I once had a wasp in my nightdress which stung me a lot.
Lots of good thoughts for tomorrow overthemill - glad results were good.
gig glad your sister has been with you and doing nice things.

Gigondas · 07/08/2012 22:15

Yes I was hoping it was mad siskurri

And smee I am do glad you say that as cant seem to settle to do anything so feel glad not just me.

OP posts:
smee · 07/08/2012 23:00

Hooray for OvertheMill. Smile Smile Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope it goes smoothly and quickly! You should definitely plan some sort of treat for when you're through. Get the kids involved maybe in choosing. Show them there's life ahead. Smile

5 drop-off's Gracie?! Shock That's a lot for a woman on chemo. You take care now.

Gig, am following Kurri with the duct tape. Not sure I can claim such lofty medical status though. Grin

Ouch for your sis, Kurri. Hope she doesn't react badly to them.

KurriotsOfFire · 07/08/2012 23:00

It was nice sister unfortunately - mad sister doesn't phone me very often Grin

Loads of good vibes for tomorrow Overthemill xx

Gigondas · 08/08/2012 07:39

Brew and positive vibes for overthemill today - will be thinking of you.

What is everyone else up to?

Had a bit of a wobble last night (yes I need that duct tape) so may get some more Cbt or try and focus a bit more on my meditation to help. But have a nice massage booked this morning and quiet day at home - might even make some cake for fbs later.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2012 10:52

mindful cake making sounds the very thing gig... hope you feel less wobbly soon.
overthemill hope all is going smoothly...

smee · 08/08/2012 10:56

Gig, cake sounds essential, but keeping busy/ tiring yourself out good too. Am here with duct tape if you need it. x

Positive vibes from me for Overthemill too. Hope you're okay and get through the first one okay. xx

I have my pelvic ultrasound later to check on cysts. Have to drink 8 mugs of water 90 mins before. Is that even possible?! Confused

graciesmall09 · 08/08/2012 11:08

Was just about to post and then got a phone call for my 3rd pick up so just before I head out. Good luck to overthemill for your chemo today (hope I have the right day), also good luck to smee for your ultrasound.

Hugs to gigs, baking sounds a great idea.

kurri ouch for your sister. I sat on a wasp once which was not a nice experience.

mas Just wondering do you illustrate cards? I would love a special one for DH's 50th next month. No problems if you don't. (hope you don't think I'm a cheeky mare)

Right off to pick up mother from the hairdressers. Back later.

Sometimesiwonder · 08/08/2012 11:46

Ooh, MAS, I feel another commission coming one!

Gracie - yes, she does do cards, and i can vouch for them being lurvly....

Ouch for your sister KK. That happened to my Dad once - one went into his trousers and it was the funniest thing I have ever seen, but then I am quite mean Grin

Hugs and positive vibes to all who need them today, especially Overthemill and Gig x

I've got rid of DH on a business trip to London, and dd to her nan's - they think I'm working but actually, I'm going out for lunch with an old friend so, ya boo sucks to them Smile

Gigondas · 08/08/2012 12:19

Crosses legs in sympathy with smee for mugs of water.

Yes gracie another vote here on the excellence of Mas commissions.

Big thumbs up for my massage this morning - now back for some cooking later.

OP posts:
smee · 08/08/2012 12:31

Have a lovely lunch, Sometimes. Smile

What are you going to cook, Gig?

topsyturner · 08/08/2012 12:52
Grin
MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2012 13:00

ooh, smee that'd set my wee anxiety off ! good luck with holding on...
Aw,thanks for the nice things you've said about my cards - yes gracie I do cards - can you pm me with your email and I'll send you some examples !
Ds is up and just had breakfast- I do feel I should be doing something with him, but I have work/stuff to do and he said he isn't bored and is perfectly happy, but I feel guilty all the same.

KurriotsOfFire · 08/08/2012 13:06

Good luck with the scan Smee - maybe you have had it by now, - 8 mugs of water sounds like a task and a half, - I honestly don't think I could do that, - but you probably have a considerably stronger bladder and pelvic floor than me (wouldn't be difficult Grin)

Have a great lunch Sometimes - tell us what you have so we can vicariously enjoy your food! Your poor dad with a wasp in his trousers (does sound quite funny though) I am allergic to wasp stings in a big way so tend to go into absolute flap mode if one comes near me.

gracie - I can also highly recommend MAS's cards - she did a beautiful one for my DD's graduation - DD was thrilled with it.

Gig - I'm glad the massage was relaxing, - enjoy your baking, - can we put in orders? - rock cakes are my favourite, but I also like brownies, cookies, cup cakes, ginger bread ..... the list is endless in fact Grin

I hope overthemill's chemo is going OK - been thinking of her this morning.

I've been to yoga, - so feel nice and relaxed, and a friend gave me a big bag of runner beans, which old lady dog tried to root out of my bag and steal Grin

I have to provide a picture for my art group exhibition wall (in a local community centre) tomorrow. So am sorting through what I have got to offer. The choice is vase of summer grasses, large gaudy bullfinch, an old man with a wrinkly face, a fat little hedgehog looking at a butterfly, or some gentians.

Summer grasses is probably the most sensible, - but I'm inclining towards fat hedgehog - as everyone tends to do very sedate landscapes and lovely delicate watercolours - and I can never achieve those so may as well go the opposite way!

OK I'm rambling, - I'll stop Grin

smee · 08/08/2012 13:20

Scan isn't until 6.40, so from 5.30 or so keep things crossed for me! Grin

I vote for fat hedgehog, Kurri. Smile

Gigondas · 08/08/2012 13:38

Also Vote for hedgehog Grin

Once cleaner has gone I will be cooking osso bucco, risotto and polenta blueberry muffins so feel free to pop round.

Having spurned and despised le creuset pots for years I am tempted to buy another (have some john Lewis vouchers) as bough t dh one as can do man cooking (from hob to oven) and I quite like it .

OP posts:
smee · 08/08/2012 13:42

Le creuset build up your muscles too, Gig. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2012 13:47

wow, that sounds delicious gig - I love cakes with polenta in (orange polenta cake is my speciality)
Gaudy bullfinch here kk !

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2012 13:48

went into T's room to find him lying on his bed reading Kensuke's Kingdom which seems to be a favourite...
