Here we go !

Hi sweetest am also non bc - soft tissue sarcoma -dx and op in feb 2012 , rads ended may 2012 and now on chemo as also have secondaries. My mum had cancer of unknown primary in her neck so I know how drastic the op and rads are on face and neck. Her palsy went after about 3 years (she is 6 years clear nearly after fairly uncertain prognosis). Also scar tons better which she was very conscious of.

Any update on washing machine sometimes?

kurri glad you had such a nice time and met the lovely ned . I need holiday stories as had a bit of a spell of feeling down and sorry for Myself about others going on holiday.

However, I have got the playmobil olympic figures for me big gig so will do some photos laterWink.

Sometimesiwonder · 24/07/2012 17:02

Welcome Sweetest -dive right on in!

Welcome back KK - I knew ned would be lovely (and forceful when it comes to puddings): am glad you had a nice symptom-free time with DH and that your Mum is OK.

Washing machine NOT fixed Angry - it's going to cost £130 and not be done til Friday. Sigh, sigh and sigh again. I have a strict 'fix it once then bin it' rule with appliances: I bet this repair doesn't last six months Sad

Have spent quite a relaxing half an hour in the launderette though, I commandeered half the machines and got the lot done in one go Grin

Gigondas · 24/07/2012 17:02

Angry re Friday but glad the launderette is therapeutic sometimes.

How is dd?

KurriKurri · 24/07/2012 17:14

Hello Gig and Sometimes Smile - Playmobil olympic figures sound brilliant - I love Playmobil, - we will have to try to arrange a meet up in London and treat you for the day Gig Smile

launderettes are nice places aren't they? I know it's very annoying when your washing machine breaks, but its great to sit and read while the washing spins round, and not feel guilty that you are relaxing. Grin

Eton Mess is the best pudding Sweetest, - or at least equal to Lemon Meringue Pie.

Gigondas · 24/07/2012 17:18

That's a great idea- week starting 13 August probably best as should be out of quarantine then as it were.

Watching big gig eat all the icing off her cake.. I should just stop bothering making cakes for her and just do icing Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/07/2012 17:20

oh bugger sometimes - pesky. Our local launderette isn't very relaxing as it's very narrow and slightly grubby and has huge machines for horse blankets..
Glad your mum was ok kk -am sure she loved seeing you.
sweetest forgot to say - I was diagnosed in 2009 with 24mm grade 2 invasive breast cancer, but fortunately no node involvement so radiotherapy and tamoxifen only...

Sometimesiwonder · 24/07/2012 17:22

Both of those are my kind of pudding, TBH

Icing is always the best part of any cake. Fact. although the Hairy Bakers' one last night did look quite exciting, even if it did have cardamom in it Confused

Yes, the launderette is very soporific: it smells clean and the machines make a nice sound, and you can sit and read while still feeling like you are doing something domestic.

I may go again tomorrow.....

Sometimesiwonder · 24/07/2012 17:24

Horse blankets? Crikey. Not much call for those in ours. It's nice and bright and airy, with staff that tell you why you are doing wrong....

KurriKurri · 24/07/2012 17:32

Talking of laundry - while I was strimming the two foot high grass under mum's washing line, I found a fossilized sock - early Jurassic I think, unfortunately it snapped when I bent it Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 24/07/2012 18:38

Wonder how long that had been there? Grin

Gig - dd is absolutely tickety-boo, thanks. Was 100% better as soon as she got rid of the offending sausages.

SweetestThing · 24/07/2012 20:35

Ah, fellow pudding fans :-) We don't often have puddings, mainly because I would scoff the lot!

Gig, thanks for sharing about your mum. My palsy is less pronounced than it was and I had my eye reopened yesterday (it was sewn at the outer corner to make the exposed surface smaller, as many people who've had their facial nerve severed find their blinking is compromised, so this reduces the risk of debris scratching the eye). So at the moment, I have a humungous black eye, with loads of swelling and am not a pretty sight! Glad that your mum is doing so well - it gives me hope!

It's so good to be able to come here and know that we all have some idea of what each other is experiencing. It makes me feel 'normal', if that makes sense?

graciesmall09 · 24/07/2012 20:38

Hi sweetness welcome aboard. My story dx in March with grade 3 1.6 mm bc, quadrectomy, no nodes involved. Due my 6th chemo next week of 8. Then to have 25 rads, Herceptin and Tamoxifen. Great that you are in remission.

Well I'm back from almost 5 hours at hospital. Doctor was a bit of a cow and insisted I didn't have a clot but Transfusion Services insisted on a dopplar scan which showed low and behold a clot. Thankfully it was below the picc as when the nurse was out she refused to flush it in case it was a clot and she dislodged it but the doctor flushed it before the scan (which my nurse was raging about). Anyway had a Clexane injection and the district nurse is due tomorrow to show me how to do them. As topsy says the gift that gives on giving.

Glad you had a good time with your mum and ned kurri. Imagine her forcing your to eat eton mess Grin

gigs hope you are having fun with your playmobil.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/07/2012 21:43

phew gracie - you need treats now- chocolate raisins ?

OP posts:
topsyturner · 24/07/2012 21:48

Ooh Gracie , not a good day !
I had daily clexane injections last time I was in hospital . Ended up with a tummy full of bruises .
Quite ruined my plans to wear a bikini Grin

graciesmall09 · 24/07/2012 21:52

Not looking forward to the injections as they sting like mad. They told me I will probably be on them for 3 - 6 months. Lucky I have plenty of padding Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/07/2012 21:55

eek, that was post number 666 - Am in awe of those who have to inject themselves xx

topsyturner · 24/07/2012 22:27

Have taken charge and shaved my head tonight .
Bald patches couldn't be hidden with my comb over any more ...

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 06:42

So does that mean you are now all set for our trip to nam?

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 06:43

And leaving extra fbs for poor gracie - clexane stingy and bruising .

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 06:54

Have been fully cammed up and hiding in the bush outside your front door since midnight Gigs ...

DS turned 13 today .
To mark the occasion he woke up shortly after 6am and made us all get up so he could get his pressie (x box)
There maybe cake later when I've woken up Grin

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 06:57

At least that should mean he is quiet for rest of holidays - dss can go native for days on his x box.

Are you the one up the tree then topsy? Grin

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 06:58

And happy birthday to ds - did you sleep better?

SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 07:05

Happy birthday to DS, topsy. Has he turned into a Kevin overnight? We became fluent in the language of grunt when our two hit the teenage years....

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 07:06

Platoon up tree .
Topsy in shrubbery ...

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 07:08

I slept bloody brilliantly for once .
Until DS decided it was birthday time !

He has been Kevin like for about 6 months I'm afraid .
He's very advanced
