Here we go !

OP posts:
SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 07:21

Grin at advanced Kevin-ness. They make you so proud, don't they?

SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 07:22

Brilliant sunshine here today (east Surrey) - what does everyone have planned for Hump Day?

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/07/2012 07:32

GI Janes in the shrubbery...be afraid...
Happy birthday to ds topsy - ah teen boys... sweetest mine is 15 and is mostly ok,but given to grunting behaviour and shutting himself in his room. I am attempting to prise him out today, but have no clue as to what we might do.

OP posts:
SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 07:38

MAS, my DS will be 21 next month and we don't see that much of him, between work (he is working on a play scheme for children with disabilities before returning to uni in September), playing frisbee in the evening with his mates and watching DVDs/playing Xbox or whatever in the basement until the wee small hours! Last week, before the play scheme started, I was having to rouse him from is bed at midday....I'm sure I was never allowed to stay in bed till then when I was that age!!

(grumpy old thing emoticon)

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 07:39

Is now not the time to relive some of dss highlights from the early teen years? Wink

You can come in for a Brew now if you want topsy.

Venturing into town this morning to offload on therapist and have some acupuncture so will be all calm (I hope) later.

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 07:46

Hope the therapist is helpful today .

DS is holed up in his pit bedroom connecting up ...

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 08:17

That's him gone for rest of school hold.

There is a half eaten tin of cadburys heroes in cupboard

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 08:19

Found em !

Gigondas · 25/07/2012 09:06

You won't get out without having to play playmobil with big gig

KurriKurri · 25/07/2012 10:05

Happy birthday topsy junior - a teenager wow! - I have to say boys seem to be the worse for grunting (and when they have all their grunty friends round it's overwhelming 'would you like a drink?' -'ughng ughng' cough, sheepish shuffle.) Grin Girls tend to go in for the scathing look of total contempt, especially if you make fashion suggestions Grin

My 22 yr old would sleep all day given half a chance Sweetest - but like your DS when she's got work to go to, she's up and raring to go. Bizarre Confused

God luck with the therapist Gig - hope all goes well and you feel nice and relaxed afterwards. I will happily play playmobil with Big Gig - am I allowed to do funny voices?

gracie those injections don't sound much fun - just catching up with your posts, and you have been in the wars a bit ,hugs. and extra FBS on the trolley.

My diet starts again in earnest today, - so I'm sipping green tea and wondering what to have for breakfast. I had a bit of a sugar overload at my mum's Grin Although it was good to see that she is eating reasonably well now, - not just baked potatoes and soup every day.

Love to all - its another gorgeous day here today, - fingers crossed it stays nice for DD's festival at the weekend - she is playing in a barn apparently, - full of hay - so will no doubt sneeze her way violently through her pieces Grin

smee · 25/07/2012 10:11

Happy Birthday to grunty DS, Topsy. When's the cake happening then? Smile

Have missed loads as ever. Waving a hi to Sweetness though. Sorry you've found yourself here, but it's v.nice to meet you. this place is rather wondrous. I'm another BC person. Diagnosed March 2010, full node clearance, mastectomy, chemo and rads and Tamoxifen. Had preventative mastectomy last October too.

Will try and catch up, so will stick a Brew on and read back through. Waving to all through the heat. Smile

SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 10:15

You lot are lovely :)

Sitting in the garden (in the shade, obviously!) -would anyone like to join me for a cold drink and a natter?

Actually, where is everyone based? I guess we are scattered around - I'm in Surrey, very near the border with Kent.

graciesmall09 · 25/07/2012 10:17

Happy birthday to mini topsy. Welcome to the world of Xbox topsy. You will resort of sending in food parcels and if he does extract himself to come to dinner you will be confronted with the ins and outs of Halo, etc. Or maybe that is just my house. I have perfected the look interested whilst thinking 'wonder what's on TV later?' look.

gigs enjoy your day and hide the playmobil and fbs before Topsy nabs them all.

Lovely day here today (makes a change) but I can't go out until nurse has been. Swelling going down on my arm so must be starting to work.

mas have a lovely day with your boy if you can extract him from his room. My two boys are just back from walking the dog and are in front of the Xbox again. Will have to think of something to entice them out later.

smee hope there is some improvement in your friend's baby. Thinking of them all.

We have a painter and decorator coming tonight to give us some prices for getting some rooms redecorated so lots of 'cheap' vibes needed or DH cheapskate will say no.

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 10:17

I'm in Belfast .
Although I am English . DH is from here .

topsyturner · 25/07/2012 10:19

Already been regaled with 3 hours of "and did you know you can do blah blah blah on an x box"
Am slowly losing the will to live Gracie ...

graciesmall09 · 25/07/2012 10:20

Lots of crossposts.

Thanks for the fbs kurri. Glad you had a good time at your mums and good luck with the diet. I am joining slimming world (hopefully) the week after my last chemo so hopefully I will get a few stone off. My friend has lost 5 stone since April although not on slimming world.

sweetest think we are all over the place. I'm in Northern Ireland.

graciesmall09 · 25/07/2012 10:21

I feel your pain topsy. DS2 asked me did I want him to explain facetime to me on his Ipod. Thanks but no thanks.

KurriKurri · 25/07/2012 10:27

Cold drink sounds just the ticket Sweetest. - I'm from Norfolk (although originally from Dorset), married to a dour Scot Grin - we've got two grown up children - DS lives in Suffolk with his fiancee, DD still at home.

Smee - how is friends baby today - any news? Hope everything is OK.

Old lady dog was flopping about in the heat, - so I have put the fan on for her, and she's standing with her bum facing it, enjoying the breeze through her knickers (she has no shame Grin)

KurriKurri · 25/07/2012 10:31

gracie - I am contemplating slimming world too (although DH resents the cost 'just eat less' is his solution - if only it were that easy!)

I have heard SW is better than weight watchers, I reckon I need to lose 2 stone to be able to have my recon. op., but actually I'd like to lose 3 to be back to my pre cancer-drugs-and-other-shit weight.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/07/2012 10:33

poor hot dogs - Grin @ old lady dog cooling her bottom !
I fret about poor dogs in cars..
Ds has announced that he'd like to go to Farnham today -though I had offered Winchester too, which would be more interesting but... I know that he is thinking of the Maison Blanc there with it's eclairs...
sweetest I am in N Hampshire - originally from W London.
Have a good session and acupuncture today gig

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 25/07/2012 10:36

kurri I did slimming world before and lost 2 and then put 3 back on and it does work although I'm not sure it teaches you portion control which weightwatchers probably does. I did ww as well but had used all my points by lunch time Grin

Love the vision of old lady dog cooling her bits smee.

SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 10:54

Goodness,we really are scattered about! I am from Glasgow originally ( not dour, I promise you Kurri!!) but DH is English and both DCs think of themselves as English.

Loving the shameless dog image Grin.

Good luck with your weight loss plans. gracie, five stone since April seems a huge amount for your friend to lose! Has she had to buy an entirely new wardrobe of clothes to fit her new size?

graciesmall09 · 25/07/2012 11:09

sweetest yes she has gone from a 16 to an 6/8. She did it with Lipotrim which is a meal replacement. She really doesn't need to lose anymore but she is panicing that she will put it on again.

SweetestThing · 25/07/2012 11:20

That's the risk, isn't it, when you lose weight with meal replacement? Once you return to 'normal' food, unless you understand why you out in weight in the first place and adjust your eating to maintain a healthy weight, you often put it on again. Does she exercise much? That's the only way I can control my weight.

smee · 25/07/2012 11:38

No baby news today though she is now breathing unaided which is a huge milestone. Smile

Sweetest I'm in London, one Ds who's 8. Topsy am going to tell him your Ds has only just got an x-box. He reckons I'm mean not letting him have one. I don't think he really knows what they are even, he just knows they're cool. Grin

Catching up slowly.. kurri glad to hear you had a good time at you mum's.
Topsy control on the hair deserves a cheer. Gracie sorry to hear you've got a blood clot. Injections aren't too bad once you get used to them. Still annoying though. Gig am liking the playmobil. Smile
