What you are my mil topsy?

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 11:06

Do you like those probiotic yogurts or yogurt drinks topsy? - I found they helped with heartburn and with the runs - replace some of the bacteria in your gut. Also make sure you are well propped up in bed - keeps the acid down a bit.

Yes you do need a giant old lady pill organizer (how did you know I had one of those???) - they are a must have fashion accessory.

Sometimesiwonder · 17/07/2012 11:09

How did DH get on at the docs, KK?

smee · 17/07/2012 11:18

Oh yes, I have some v.funky pill organisers. Topsy go shop. Grin

Kurri's right about the pro-biotic yoghurts. I lived on them on chemo. Definitely helped. Walking helped with the Tax aches. Felt like a massive effort to get out the door, but I always felt better after a walk. Hot baths too.

Kurri, just read about your DH. Hope GP didn't fob him off. Sad

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 11:19

Sometimes - I posted yesterday at 16.01 - so more details there, but basically she told him he had health anxiety, and the symptoms he had didn't warrant testing as they were very minor, she couldn't feel any swollen glands (I couldn't either actually, but he was convinced they were). So she's sent him for a chest x-ray and we'll wait and see what that tells us.

It was a duty doc. appointment - and when he said what was wrong, she said 'why are you here, this isn't an emergency' Hmm so I think her bedside manner probably leaves a lot to be desired.

He's actually seemed more cheerful since he went - as he says 'I'd rather have health anxiety than a serious illness'

Personally I think he is depressed and could do with some help there, - so I'll suggest he makes a longer appointment with our own doc. when we get back from holiday. I also wonder what effect me being ill has had on him - I guess seeing someone close to you with cancer would make you worry specifically about that illness, or maybe the strain of having to care for me and all the hospital visits etc. has taken its toll. Sad

Gigondas · 17/07/2012 11:25

Pre and probiotic does cure dicky tummy . Also aloe Vera juice which can help with inflammation.

smee · 17/07/2012 11:25

Kurri, have just remembered, but my DH had a bit of a stress-run once I started climbing back after treatment. He started suspecting all sorts, so had mole checks, bowel cancer checks etc. In the end the GP gently said he thought DH was reacting to the stress and worry of my cancer. Apparently he sees it a lot amongst people whose partners have been through treatment. Our GP was totally lovely about it all and told DH that he could come anytime about anything and he'd be happy to check him over. Interestingly as soon as he said that, DH somehow clicked out of it and has been fine ever since.

Sometimesiwonder · 17/07/2012 11:28

Thanks, KK - sorry to get you to repeat yourself Blush

my dh had a bit of a stressy time after my treatment as well.

Definitely seeing your own doctor would be best, am never convinced by stand-in ones

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 11:38

Don't Blush Sometimes - I wasn't being snippy(hope it didn't sound as if I was Blush Grin

Smee - that's interesting that it is quite common. DH is not a great talker about feelings etc., but I might initiate a gentle chat about things while we drive down tomorrow (then he can't run away!)

I also think my sister being a total loon hasn't helped - because it's made me stressed. And DH's boss at work is a complete git as well. - I could make a list of things actually - no wonder he's stressed. He's a problem solver by nature, so if he can't solve things straight away, he gets agitated.

smee · 17/07/2012 11:47

My DH is a bit like that too. Not surprising it translates into health worries in a way. Maybe some windy walks and nice food away from it all will work its magic. I hesitate to say sun, as that seems unlikely. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/07/2012 11:49

here's a link to the lav programme- was really interesting -and I didn't dream of lavs last night ! here

Also thinking of bollocks

Morning lovelies Smile

Just back from 12th rads - only 8 to go! Is that something like two fifths left?! Got a bit of a tanned boob, although thankfully it does not appear to be developing any kind of orange tinge. . .

topsy I did feel quite hungover on the Docetaxol on occasions, and can very much sympathise on the botty issues. Had exactly the same Blush hope the Topsy ring of fire is feeling better today x

kurri hope DH feeling OK today. Sending him and you big hugs. I think DH is a bit the same - interesting what you said, smee - he's been to the docs more since I was dx than ever before. Minor things - ear infection, eczema flare ups etc. Sounds like your loon sister needs shooting - happy to oblige, if it would help?

Been worrying a bit about bollocks too - hope she's OK.

gig how you doing, lovely? Hope today finds you well and chirpy x x

sometimes hope you are suitably coiffured now x

Waves to MAS, smee, sparkle, gracie and anyone else about today. Hope theres some sun where you are x x x x x x x

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 12:17

Ned - more than half way through - well done Smile
.
I've messaged you, - we're driving down to Dorset tomorrow. I will paint a target on my sister, so she's easy to spot Grin

Very interesting to hear that several Dh's have felt the effects of our treatment - it's logical really, but it hadn't occurred to me before (show how self absorbed I am - poor DH Sad)

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/07/2012 12:47

excellent progress ned !!

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 17/07/2012 12:55

kurri have messaged you back - really looking forward to seeing you Smile

Thanks MAS! Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/07/2012 13:23

I'm jealous that you're meeting up !!

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 17/07/2012 13:27

Ooh, I'm a bit Envy too!

Have a good time! Smile

No, KK, you didn't sound snippy - I just sounded forgetful (as, indeed, I am)

I am coiffed and buffed, so now I'll go and iron the curtains. Sigh.

SparkleRainbow · 17/07/2012 13:42

Have missed out on the curtain washing... in fact I have almost no curtains at ours as they won't fit on the little cottage windows.....yes a bit of house work I don't have to do.

Kurri congrats on passing the test.....I knew you could do it! I am another one whos thinks your dh should go and see the regular gp when he/she is back. I actually think that the locum was singularly unhelpful, even if it is a stress related anxiety about health, does that make him less worthy as a patient....I think not. Our previous gp tried to dx dh as being an alcoholic...ran tests to prove it, which all came back negative and ignored his very real symptoms of severe clinical depression. I moved us gp, he now has a fab one, he is one about 10 tabs a day just to control his very real health problems associated with his depression....sorry will get off soap box, just irritates me the way some medics still treat any degree of stress or anxiety as time wasting....am well aware that none of this may actuallt be relavent to your dh Blush

KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 14:00

Sparkle - I completely agree, - this woman was definitely a bit dismissive, apparently on the x-ray form he had to hand in a the hospital, she had written 'any pathology???????? ' Angry - DH says that is code for 'malingerer' (not very good code) I'm glad your DH is getting the help he needs now, much better to have the continuity of seeing the same doc. - ours is lovely but you have to wait at least three weeks to get an appointment with him.

Sometimes - what style is your new hair? I had mine done last week, but it's a bit short - I can't spike it up like I usually do.

Ned - we are good to go Grin - remember I am without internet until I get back home, so if you think I'm a mad old bat, you can tell everyone on here, then have your message deleted, and I shall be none the wiser Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 17/07/2012 14:20

Hair same as it has always been since chemo - short and messy. I like it that way, it's a natural state for my hair, and it looks the same even in a high wind. I think it may be a bit TOO short, and maybe a bit neat, post cut, but it soon reverts to type Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 17/07/2012 14:44

Angry over code for 'malingerer'. Bloody nerve.

NedSchneebly · 17/07/2012 17:01

Grin arf @ mad old bat kurri I am very confident that I shall find you as eloquent and entertaining in real life as you are in cyber land. Wink

Anyone else who can drag themselves to Dorset on Friday in time for lunch at noon is most welcome to join us - I can pick up from Poole train station on my way past?

SparkleRainbow · 17/07/2012 17:11

I wish I could Ned, but would need to be back in Staffordshire for the school run at 3, so not really an otion Wink

graciesmall09 · 17/07/2012 17:11

My goodness looks like I have missed loads. Unfortunately I wasn't missing due to anything exciting just the usual feeling totally yuck following chemo but starting to feel a bit better except for cystitis (nice).

kurri what an insensitive sod that GP sounds. That is awful treatment agree with everyone else that it might be best if he goes to see his usual doctor. Hopefully he will be a little more understanding.

See I missed some fun dressing up. I still have my high-vis jacket and panic alarm that I was given when doing Census work last year. I must admit I only wore the jacket once as I looked like one of those large, round buoys out at sea.

kurri and ned enjoy your meet up. Have you ever met before?

*bollocks if you are out there let us know how you are, been thinking of you but hopefully you have gone off to celebrate this weekend after a good result.

Wedding this Friday and got a google image of church which seems to be right on the shore. If weather anything like today I have visions of DH chasing along the beach to catch my wig. I bought a fascinator on a band so hoping that holds everything in place. Grin

Is jchoc away? haven't seen her about for a while - hope you and your mum ok.

SparkleRainbow · 17/07/2012 17:25

Do virtual chocolate brownies still give me migraines????? Shall I risk it?
