[barges topsy out of fbs pole position by using her Iv stand] - it's me!!! After bit of faff (delay in putting picc in- sorry to hear you are having issues gracie) I am on the good stuff as we speak. It's happy hour here at my tox spa so I have already sampled both types...

So far so good - had family here all day and nurses etc are lovely. Downside is food is vile!!!

Kk where have you been dispensing wisdom? Baskets sorry about the abscess. Ned how you doing?

J the Mn app is the most unreliable out.

In other news, nanny 1 ( after much gushing etc ) resigned to dh - is off home to live with family so will go in August.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 19/06/2012 20:09

J so sorry for your friend- maybe a text to say you are thinking of her

OP posts:
jchocchip · 19/06/2012 20:10

Oh well done gig on the good stuff :) pity about the vile food :( Good the nanny situation seems to be sorting.
I wonder where kk has been, too...

Gigondas · 19/06/2012 20:11

I want to know to...

And topsy your words really helped me when I had my wobble (it was when picc line went in)

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 20:16

I started a thread in chat here - I will answer any questions put to me (but not necessarily accurately)Grin

KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 20:20

Gig you will have to get your Dh to bring you edible food, - hospital food is very unpleasant, but good that you are being pumped full of the good stuff.

Gigondas · 19/06/2012 20:24

Wow kk that is a magic thread - who knew? Yep food parcels ordered - I can share jammy dodgers, jaffa cakes and pork scratchings on fb tray.

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 19/06/2012 21:18

Glad picc line insertion went ok gigs. Pity about the food though. We will have to send you food parcels to keep your strength up.

jchoc that is awful about your colleague. Don't know whether it is just me but c is all I seem to hear about at the moment.

Thanks for the lineogram info baskets. Yet another x-ray for me then. I am beginning to lose count of how many xrays I have had, surely that can't be good for me.

Didn't know there was a Tam FB page. Is it by invitation only or can anyone join?

Can't believe you would have laughed at my lovely bald head topsy. I would have you know it is extremely fetching. I do have a very beautiful bald head Grin. The amount of time I'm spending at our lovely CC we are bound to bump into each other over the free coffee.

smee · 19/06/2012 21:54

Ooh hooray, Gig has broadband. Smile

gracie, yes of course you must join. We're not on there v.much, but yes. MAS will tell you how. I'm a fb luddite..

Gigondas · 19/06/2012 21:59

Can I join too?

Must say that my (expensive) hospital survival kit has worked so far and feeling on (pillow spray is particularly recommended).

Now I just need my dsd to tell me who is who in heat..

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 22:15

Hurrah Gig has been connected to the interweb !!
Do you have your own room or are you on a ward with lots of deranged interesting people ?
The first chemo is very emotive isn't it ?

Gracie you have discovered the joy that is the free tea , coffee or hot chocolate at the Bridgewater Suite ?
I am next at hospital on 28th of this month if you find yourself there ? Am going for ct too but don't have an apt for that yet .

Am in bed .
DH is watching the movie Parenthood and sniggering .
I have had my laughs by winding him up that England won the football ... Grin

Gigondas · 19/06/2012 22:24

You can't polish gracie - what she needs is some Olympic rings tattooed on there. That's what I am doing when I go bald.

topsy yep have own room - and fab view of London. But same old hospital food etc. for some reason I found waiting and picc line worst. Maybe cos I had my mum dad and dh in room with me I felt ok when actually started. I was willing it in and so it can work .

I have films to watch but for reasons known to myself have got news on which is not cheery.

gracie I have noticed the cancer everywhere thing too. Talked about it with therapist . To some extent it's true it is prevalent and tends to be the more extreme cases you see on web/papers. You don't get "just getting on with life and coping" as too busy doing it and no story there. Also you become hyper sensitive - i was mega aware of pregnant women when I had mc to a ridiculous extent. When it really gets to me I play the 1 in 3 game- as I think that's the stat of people who get cancer in their lives . Somehow that makes me feel less "alone".

Congratulations to amber's ds !! is he getting his own car now ?
gig grrr about hospital food - definitely supplies from home and we'll load the fbs trolley with extra goodies.
Very sorry to hear about your work colleague jane - I think it'd be supportive to send a thinking of you text xxx
gracie will you pm me your facebook details and I'll invite you to tamoxifen group (and anyone else on fb who'd like to join) Gig I know you so will invite !
Toasted brioche anyone ?

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 07:43

Oh yes - am so hungry. When does nausea kick in If you get it? On drugs already tho...

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 07:58

you're joined up gig !

topsyturner · 20/06/2012 08:17

Morning All

It's another nice sunny day here today .
Makes everything seem nicer when the sun is out doesn't it ?
I still have this blasted cold , woke up with a headache this morning .
DH complained that my coughing kept him up most of the night .
Ok , that's my morning moan over with Grin

Gig hospital food is indeed grim . I relied on kind donations from my visitors . And once one if my very good friends brought me in an entire plated up Sunday roast dinner !
Other than that , I used to nip downstairs to the (very nice) coffee and sandwich shop . I would buy a nice sandwich and eat that if the dinner was truly foul !

As for Gracies head , surely henna tattoos are the way to go ???
I have a friend who does all the Indian engagement ones (mendi ??) who offered to do my head when I was bald !
Grin

Right , I have drugs to take and a DD to kick out get ready for school .
The boy has already left , it's his sports day today . Apparently he's not doing anything so it's just an excuse to piss about in the park I think ...

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 08:26

I have mas.

Yes got relief parcels coming but not here yet and think headache and mild nausea as I am starving and tired so want something to eat. Breakfast not appeared however inedible (how hard is it to ruin tea and toast).

OP posts:
Gigondas · 20/06/2012 08:27

Hope sun helps your cold. Breakfast here now and looks okSmile

hey all...not been on for a bit as been a crazy week was at work Monday and Tuesday and then to the clinic. Still, only 3 teaching days left for me then Summer holidays start here in Scotland!

Well done to Gig. am so inspired by your positive posts everyone and love the getting on with life atmosphere on this thread! Had shingles once kk really sore hope you're feeling better.

Once again had mixed news from my appointment yesterday. Node was positive from biopsy so now have to go in for whole day on Thursday for liver and bone scan. Sure it'll be fine and they're just ticking boxes but another day out of my life disappears! But now they can do the whole op plus node clearance in one go and we've moved it to the 9th July! Yeah ....might get to the Olympics after all and to hear my DD1 sing at the proms on 1st Aug. Yeah yeah yeah!!!! ridiculously happy about salvaging my summer!

Family a bit low though...am now seriously giving information on a need to know basis to kids or if direct question asked. Lots of love to all and hope you have a good Wednesday. :o

NedSchneebly · 20/06/2012 09:21

gig you're sounding pretty chirpy this morning?! Good to hear all going OK so far, apart from the nutritional deciciencies of your ward. I think there is a whole days training available on how to feck up toast. . .

With the sickness, i think it depends on what drugs you are on. Steroids will control nausea and other good stuff will too. i was on Emend( apripratant) metaclopramide, dexamethazone and ondansetron. Enjoy being nausea free if you can! Good idea to eat something though, if you get the chance.

I find the lights the worst thing to induce hospitalitis insomnia. The last time I was in I had to put my covers over my head at 10.30pm before they took the hint to turn the strip lights off Hmm

Is there a competition to design gracie's head tattoo then? Sounds fun!

Morning topsy I was coughing in the night as well. DH disappeared to the spare room.. . Grin at DS pissing about in the park. That's just what I used to do too!

kurri your thread in chat is legendary. Love it! Smile

jchoc so sorry to hear about your friend. Fecking disease. Did you decided to text in the end?

Hope everyone else OK this morning. Waves to smee, MAS, grey, sometimes, baskets, gracie and everyone else!

NedSchneebly · 20/06/2012 09:23

X post jennie sounds like they're getting on with things for you? Worth getting the whole picture before you move forward, I guess. Sounds like you have definitely reclaimed some of your summer though - fantastic! 9th July not too far away. Smile

smee · 20/06/2012 10:20

Grin at Gig and her plans for Olympic head. Gig, I felt sick on evening of chemo day, then it carried on from there, so you're doing pretty well if you're still feeling okay. Smile

Jane, bloody cancer. What a sod. Did you text in the end?

MJennie, g'ah for that node. Bit dull to have so many appts - seem to remember that time and being annoyed there wasn't more time to think, but I reckon it really helps to know it all, then you can plan ahead. What's your DD singing in the Proms? Definitely you don't want to miss that. Smile

Kurri, are you with us, or being sage elsewhere? Hope not too itchy today.

Ned, what's with the cough? Is it just you being run down?

Gracie, can't think of any suitable tattoos. My DS drew all sorts on my bald patch, so at one point I had a woolly mammoth with a bubble saying : 'found at last' Grin

Sunny here, though hay fever's bad. Poor DS is doing okay with the tablets, but he's v.grouchy. Hooray for school. Grin

right, better get on. Waving to all. Sunny here. Have just given DS's cuddly sheep a sheep dip and pinned him on the line. He's been sleeping with it since he was teeny, though he now hides it when his mates come round. The water was black.. Shock

MJennieJ · 20/06/2012 10:44

smee singing Tipettt child of our time :) with the amazing National Youth Choir of Scotland...can't wait!
