Wow Jennie that will be amazing !
And great news about your op dates . Bastard node news , but I had node clearance and it was ok .

Have you had your brekkie yet Gig ?
Only asking as I have just made bacon baps if you are interested ... ?

I think Gracie would suit a nice paisley pattern hennad on her head .

smee · 20/06/2012 11:21

That will be special Jennie. How lovely. I had node clearance too, as it was in some of mine. You have to just keep on with the exercises, but mine's all fine - definitely have full mobility, just feels a bit numb.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 11:48

hope you get sorted in time for Olympics and Proms jennie - how exciting !!
Did you get breakfast gig ? was the toast edible ?
Ds has been given a form by singing teacher to apply for a place in the Hampshire County Youth Choir which I think would be great but dh is being a bit iffy about it (it would mean my driving ds to Winchester to rehearse every Friday evening, which I won't mind doing if ds is keen- and if he gets a place- of course) He was asking what would I do for 2 hours or so while the rehearsals were on...haven't really thought of that but am sure I could sit somewhere and read...

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 11:49

I could design some cute critters for gracie's head !

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 11:50

jennie am sure it's all routine on scans but better to be done. And extra yay that summer looking possible. You know Macmillan are always happy to
Help talk to family members too? Might be an idea if they have questions or issues that they feel shy about with you.

I would have stolen the bacon rolls off pig dog at 8.30 but luckily not only breakfast but dh with McDonald's breakfast (look away now nutritionist ) and supplies turned up. Then physio has diagnosed my neck as effect of months of leaning/lying on one side so has started exercise and will be strapping it tomorrow so I don't hunch. Pain getting better too.

Now waiting for onc (who is currently professor mcgonagall but may get demoted to dementor again if has one of her more blunt days) and various visitors.

Oh and the little gigs quite happy... Although big gig has a plan. We need bunk beds for mini gig (little bed), big gig (bigger bed) and mummy and daddy who would go on top. She has spotted a flaw in this (not the double bed on top issue) in her roof is too low. Her plan is she builds a new house with dh...

So that's them out of trouble while I am here then Wink

OP posts:
Gigondas · 20/06/2012 11:51

What about an Olympic design for me? Wink

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 20/06/2012 12:54

gig love big gigs plan. Excellent thought processes! Hope professor mcgonagall been and reported favourably on progress? Glad pain easing - sounds like physio may have spotted an issue for you. Will give the Olympic head design some thought. . .

Macdonalds brekkie sounds the way forward. I haven't had a Maccys in years, but am very sorely tempted to go in to the one near the hospital tomorrow after my rads planning appointment for a bit of lunch. Would that be so wrong?! Blush

You are being super brave, lovely gig - thinking of you lots and lots Thanks x x x

jennie I LURVE Child of our Time. . . I have conducted the spirituals from it before, and they are proper spine tingling stuff. Bet you'll be so proud of your clever and talented DD! She must be super good to be in NYC. . .Smile

Cough not a big deal, just a tickle which made me a bit wheezy in the night. Solved quickly with my inhaler, by which time DH was snoring next door, so I left him to it.

graciesmall09 · 20/06/2012 13:07

Another stupid day spent at hospital. Different one this time though. Told to arrive at 9.30 am to be told 'sorry no doctors'. You would think when looking for a doctor a hospital would be a good place to start but obviously not. So told to go away and come back at 11am. Lineogram showed picc has definitely moved by about 3 cm but took the contrast ok, so ok for this chemo and possibly next but they are talking about replacing it Angry.

Ok I will stop moaning now. Glad to see you are all using your time constructively thinking of a new design for my gorgeous noggin bald head. I actually think a large boob would be the best design. Just need to work out where I would get a stick on nipple Grin

Loving the free hot chocolate at Bridgewater topsy. Macdermott didn't seem to have such a good spread but they did ask if I was staying for lunch.

gigs glad to hear chemo going well. Hope your toast was edible although by the sounds of it you didn't need it with your McDs brekkie Envy. How thoughtful of big gigs to redesign your house Smile.

Positive thoughts to jennie. Hopefully all the appointments will calm down but great news that your op date brought forward.

Huge waves to everyone else. Off to have some lunch as syringe driver being set up this afternoon.

mas will pm your now. Thanks

SparkleRainbow · 20/06/2012 13:09

Gig - you are doing do well, I hope you keep the sickness at bay. Glad to hear junior gig is someone who thinks big!

Kurri - love your thread, but are you still answering questions?

KurriKurri · 20/06/2012 13:10

Hello all - trying to catch up - how have you all posted so much when I am still stumbling around with a cup of coffee trying to wake up?

jennie - it will be lovely to hear your DD singing, Child of Our Time is beautiful - you must be very proud of her Smile - Bit of a bugger about the lymph nodes, - but at least it does mean they can get rid of everything at once, - I ended up having two ops, which was a pain, - much better to find out beforehand.

Gig - have you got ear plugs? - I can never sleep in hospital but earplugs help a bit. Also ask them for a fan if you are getting too hot.

waving to everyone else, - I'm feeling a bit yuck today, so probably won't be dispensing much wisdom - knowing everything really takes it out of you Grin

will be back later, when more human!

KurriKurri · 20/06/2012 13:10

Sparkle if you have a question i will answer it Grin

SparkleRainbow · 20/06/2012 13:48

I will contemplate a good question, so when you are feeling better you can answer it for me. Grin

KurriKurri · 20/06/2012 13:50

I'm good on fashion Grin

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 14:25

Yes fbs much needed for rads planning session . As I said before there was less faffing for my wedding dress admittedly I did buy first half decent one I saw and went to Vegas so we are not talking Catherine middleton preparation here.

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 14:26

topsy my friend has left me a Great book of 70s and 80s pin ups.. I shall be checking it for orange men later and report .

OP posts:
smee · 20/06/2012 14:30

Gracie, that all sounds deeply tedious. Hope the day's a bit brighter now. Love the idea of a giant breast. Grin

Gig, little Gig's a logical girl - can tell she'll go far. House rebuilding sounds a mite drastic, but I like her style. Grin Dare i ask, but how was hospital lunch

Waving to Sparkle. Is there sun on your terrace?? Might come over if so. Smile

MAS choir sounds good for DS. Hope he at least has a go at auditioning. Two hours with a book sounds okay in summer but might be a bit grim to sit in the car or wherever in the winter.

Sheep still mighty soggy. Shall I ask wise-Kurri for a solution? Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 15:12

smee -yes, auditioning a good idea...
gracie have sent you an fb friend request as will need that to join you up,I think.
Waves to all !

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 16:29

Hospital lunch was egg sandwich banana and gaucaemole. Not so bad. It's the supper that is usually a shocker so will keep you posted. May even do reverse fbs Grin

MJennieJ · 20/06/2012 16:31

thanks all...feeling very optimistic today so that's good also kids have decided to be uber helpful even offering to hoover??!!?? Eldest DD just taken youngest to play footie in the park so have sneaked upstairs with a cup of tea and the laptop and going to lie low and pretend I am a lady of leisure!!! Am making the most of it ....may not last long!

love love love MACD's breakfasts especially the pancakes and the hash browns!

Great to hear your son's auditioning for a choir! Our kids have all sung in choirs and it gives them the chance of such an amazing lifelong hobby and I've had such pleasure from all the concerts esp the national youth choir they are so full of life!

waves to all.
xx

Oh dear, I thought I'd reread the last 2 days 'properly' but find so many new posts I know I'll never catch up. I am very busy woman, as you all know!! Well knitting group begins at 5.30, and going to that is always a fun experience, also means someone else needs to do the catering.

Happy to see Gig coping in hospital. Ghastly about grim food but good aboput food parcels from home. One of my 'warm memories' of a past hospital stay is DH bringing me a large bag of salty popcorn. Twas years ago as involved a baby in SCBU, prob the boy who is now 19, but was just the thing i needed at that mo - and I shared it with nobody!!! I love Midigig's plans for reorganising you all.

Ned, of course you should have McD if that's what you need/want. A little of what you fancy .....

Sorry about Jennie's node, but good you will have op earlier, and hope you get to all your planned events, esp DD's concert. Is that London proms then?

Gracie, so much faffing about. Frustrating for you. Love the ideas for your head!

I've had several laughs while flicking through this. Also so many laugh out loud moments in Kurri's advice column yesterday. I need to reread that too, as was just running through it while waiting for my turn in bathroom last night. All those big people here, even with more than one bathroom

Love and hugs to all. You are an amazing bunch.

xxx

KurriKurri · 20/06/2012 17:20

Well done to DS for the try out for the choir MAS - how lovely for him Smile

Gig - I like all those lunch items, but not sure I would want them together. Hope supper isn't too horrible. How are you feeling today - not too yucky I hope. We will want to see photo's of Big Gig's house redesigns when she's completed her master plan Grin

I've postponed my visit to mum's - she has had a fall and hurt her leg and can't walk about atm, and I don't feel well - in fact I feel quite ill today.
The paramedics came out to mum and said they didn't know if her leg was broken, so they got a doctor out, and he said he didn't think it was but if her foot started turning outwards and her leg gave way in a couple of weeks it probably was Shock - they don't appear to be doing an x-ray, I am trying to badger mum to insist they do one - it seems bonkers to me.

They are going to assess her for a couple of days at the day centre, which she quite fancies - she fell trying to wash her hair, and the day centre have proper bathing and shower facilities with all the safety things and a nurse to help if you want. Also she will get a good cooked meal there - I'm not convinced she eats very well, she seems to have a baked potato every day because its easy to do.

So feeling a bit fed up - I was looking forward to going to Dorset and being there for mum's birthday, but I'll take her out for a nice meal when we do get to go down.

Gracie - its good your chemo got done today, but annoying about the line, I hope it stays put now and they can get your chemo finished without replacing it.

Smee - did you spin cuddly sheep in the machine before hanging him out? Maybe put him in the airing cupboard overnight.
I had a disaster washing DS's favourite cuddly, - it was a dog (called 'Dog') and it was looking pretty grim so i washed it, and the stuffing all sort of coagulated into a big soggy ball in it's foot. I had to cut it open take all the old stuffing out and replace it then sew him up, all before DS got home from school! He survived his whole body transplant though and made a full recovery Grin

topsyturner · 20/06/2012 17:36

Loving the fact that you are a surgeon ontop of all your other talents kk Grin
Sorry you are feeling crappy today . And it's a shame you can't go to your mums , but her day centre sounds fab !

Gracie are you ready for tomorrow's chemo ? Sending smooth chemo vibes to you .

Gig I agree with kk , I love all those things you got for lunch but am finding it very hard to understand how they all go together ?
Fingers crossed for supper . Do you get menus ? My hospital give you a menu to chose from for the next day (crap , crap or puréed crap !)

Defrosted some chicken breasts for dinner . Can't for the life of me think what to make with them though .
Any suggestions ?

graciesmall09 · 20/06/2012 17:52

gigs lunch sounds ahem interesting. Wonder who thought up that concoction. Hope supper a bit better.

topsy all set for chemo tomorrow. Syringe driver up and running so feeling bit sleepy but need to make dinner before I doze off. Am trying to coax them into reducing the steriod and I think that is what is giving me the headaches and weird nose sensation. Nurse put in my notes that picc line will need changed before 6th chemo. Darn.

kurri hope your mum is ok. That's not good about no x-ray. Can't believe they are just waiting to see. Such a shame that you have to cancel your visit but probably best when you aren't feeling the best either.

jennie good to hear you are feeling positive. Enjoy your rest.

bcn called this afternoon just to see how I was which I thought was quite nice. I didn't realise they continued to hve multi-disciplinary meetings once your treatment had started as she was saying they had discussed my bone scare at the last one and she was checking how I was.

KurriKurri · 20/06/2012 18:03

Oh gracie - I got muddled - did you not have your chemo today? - what a pain. hope you have more success tomorrow.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 18:32

good luck tomorrow gracie - that was nice of bcn.
kk poor mum Sad hope she's ok -what a worry, esp as you are feeling poorly too- a gentle hug from me.
Ds not feeling tip top either Sad- cold and headachy.
gig do they have jelly ? that seems to be a hospital staple.
