Off to bed now but sending loads of love to Gig for tomorrow. xx

jchocchip · 19/06/2012 07:41

just popping in to wish gig all the best for today.

Hope you didn't have to put mrtopsy under the patio, topsy I should think all that digging would be very hard...

NedSchneebly · 19/06/2012 07:46

Got absolutely everything crossed twice over for you today, my lovely brave cyberfriend. Sending every positive vibe that I can muster. Hope everything goes according to plan for you x x x x let us know how it's going, if you can?

topsy sorry to read about delay to treatment, but I guess you know it makes sense? Will go much more smoothly without wound and possible infection to worry about. Trust me, chemo infections suck big time. Hope mr topsy has recovered his mojo. I definitely agree about DHs stressing about stupid things to avoid the big stuff. Mine does that.

kurri drinking plenty surely a good idea. Hope you had a reasonable night and were able to rest. Take it easy today, lovely x x

sometimes hope you're not working too hard? I am sure there is some EU Directive that sitting on the sofa is medicinal this soon after an op. Go gently, OK?

smee how is DS? Any improvement in hayfever for him? Don't suffer myself but have taught kids that do, and it can be completely wretched. Hope he's OK. You alright too? Haven't heard much about your perky boob recently. Hope you healing OK?

gracie good call on the work. Now you need to take some time for you and pace yourself. Then you will be properly better once this shit is all over and you can go back all guns blazing. Sending you big hugs x x x x

MAS sorry to hear you're feeling a bit low. Hope you had a restful night and a feeling a little brighter this morning. Is the sun shining with you? Might you be able to get out into the garden and soak up some rays for a bit? I am certainly planning to if it stays fair!

Feeling a bit less tired today, but combination of antibiotics and chemo have conspired to "loosen" things here Blush will be remaining close to bathroom facilities for the time being, until the extent of the problem is fully revealed. . .

Waves to anyone lurking this fine morning x x

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 09:18

Morning Ned
At least you won't be needing the pointy stick I keep on hand for "special occasions" Grin

How are we all feeling today ?
Gracie have you got your head around your enforced work leave yet ?
Gig , have you got the interweb set up yet ? Get a wiggle on woman , I need cheese !

I watched a tv program last night . It was a Northern Irish BBC one about a woman called Deirdre and her journey through breast cancer .
It was filmed originally in the mid 90s and this was the follow up program .
It was amazing how far the treatment has come in that time .
They were talking about Taxotere was this new chemo that they were trying !

My neighbours beautiful ginger kitten (called Horatio) has learnt how to rap our letter box !
He did it this morning and DD went out to play with him .
She was thrilled .
Pig/dog was much less thrilled ...
Grin

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 09:19

Oh and I think DH has settled down a little mood wise . He lives to fight another day .
Grin

NedSchneebly · 19/06/2012 09:34

Morning topsy glad to hear DH has survived. . . At least you've saved yourself the effort of digging up the patio in th first place!

No pointy stick required here. . . More of a stapler possibly. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it Grin

Sounds interesting programme - can you remember the title? Might see if I can find on iplayer. . .

KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 09:41

Morning ladies - how are we all today?

I didn't sleep last night -my head was too sore, so I read books, made myself cups of tea etc etc.

I'm going to try not to fall asleep today because if I do I won't sleep tonight either, but I shall lie about like slob instead Grin

Old lady dog would have apoplexy if a kitten knocked at our door Grin - If she sees a cat in the garden she tries to bark but she's so angry that no sound will come out so she just quivers with rage Grin

We have two pairs of House martins nesting under our eaves, - one lot is still building their nest and its really fascinating to see how much they've added each day, I try to load a photo later - they've stuck a little bit more mud on each time I look.

Loads of good vibes for Gig today xx

Gigondas · 19/06/2012 09:42

Not there yet. Most nervous about picc line. But will update later when am in my plush tox spa

It was a BBC NI program Ned
Think it was called What Happened Next - A Woman In 12 .
Disclaimer , it's a bit sad in places .

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 09:51

Pig/dog was a little enraged kk
Although I think he was more pissed off that I wouldn't let him out of the kitchen to "play" with the kitty !
How talented is he though ? Banging on the letter box to get our attention !
Tried googling "Agent For Talented Pussy"
Think I may need to get DSs laptops hard drive scrubbed before he gets home from school .
Grin Grin Grin

smee · 19/06/2012 09:51

Soothing pillows for Gig and am putting Champagne truffles on the fbt not for you greedy lot, for Gig only Hope she's alright.

How's your DH today, Topsy. Still alive? Am liking the sound of Horatio, though please tell Pigdog not to eat him. Shock

Ned, hope things settle iyswim. Can you get as far as the garden? Warm and sunny here.

MAS, how's the headache and other aches? Did they go after a night's sleep?

And Kurri, hope you're less scratchy today and drugs are doing their thing.

Perky boob update for Ned: It's too perky!! Doesn't match the other side. Perfectionist Surgeon wants to 'go back in and re-do'. Have told her to leave me alone for the summer. Made myself look at them yesterday though and I think she's right. It's too big a difference in lots of ways. Will never get a bra to fit and you can see the mis-shape under anything even vaguely close fitting. Still in great scheme of things it's trivia. Annoying trivia, but trivia none the less.

Waving to all, especially Gracie, Snoopy and all others on treatment. Have lost track. Better get on. Brew on the go for anyone who wants one. Smile

smee · 19/06/2012 09:52

Grin at Topsy's googling.

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 09:52

Gig don't forget to ask for the deluxe pedicure and the Indian head massage !

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 10:40

Meant to ask a question .
Bit of a strange one .
The arm on the side of my node clearance has been steadily getting sore(er) over the last few days .
Started off generally achey , now my fore arm (on the underside) is sore to the touch , and sore when I extend my arm .
It reminds me of how my other arm felt when coming towards the end of my last course of chemo and my veins were knackered .

Anyone experienced this or have any idea what it might be ?

smee · 19/06/2012 10:46

Topsy, mine still swells/ gets sore sometimes. Have you got swelling too?? Never seems to be any trigger for mine. I get stressed worrying it's recurrence, but then it goes again. Gentle stretching, swimming esp. helps. I think it's just that the body can't cope as nodes have gone.

KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 10:50

topsy - two possibilities are cording or nerve damage due to the surgery. I still get pain from my surgery - though mine is more round the back of the armpit. I'd definitely mention it next time you see someone, - they can give you exercises that will help with cording, and I think probably drugs for nerve damage if it is troubling you a lot.

I agree with Smee - stretching and gentle exercise seem to work best.

topsyturner · 19/06/2012 10:54

Hmm , good points .
DH thought it might be because of the severe flu cold I have at the moment .
Something to do with the nodes not filtering the cold germs and then spreading down my arm ????
Sounds like something out if a sci-fi film to me !

No swelling , and about as far away from the node site as you could get .
But definitely very tender to touch .

Sigh
This disease just keeps giving doesn't it ?
Grin

SparkleRainbow · 19/06/2012 11:16

Have I missed Gig.....I hope not, good luck today.

Kurri - sorry about the tingy shingles, will make you a Brew whilst you lie about on the sofa.

I have put some very nice (I may have had one or two) doughnuts on the fbs trolley, I just couldn't resist them this morning.

Bit of a frantic week again this week, with ds, lots on at school which always causes a flare up, and hospital for him on thursday as well, so forgive me for being so rubbish and not being here much at the moment.

Just wanted to say smee - love the pea pod outfit!

My name is inspired by my dd1, who was 3 when I joined mn (I think) and obsessed by rainbows and sparkles....in fact her self declared name at the time was Princess Sparkle Rainbow Padme Amadahler.....and more I can't remember......Try saying that when you want her to come inside for tea! I myself and neither particularly rainbowy or sparkly, but I am slimmer having lost a total of 14lbs, and having dropped a dress size, although doughnuts may bring that achievemt to a sticky end! Wink

Sometimesiwonder · 19/06/2012 11:19

Topsy - I think cording too. Exercises, my love, exercises

Funeral went as well as can be expected. The coffin slid off behind the curtain and into the thingy to the sound of 'Bring me Sunshine' Grin Most of the assembled crowd too rickety to do the Morecambe and Wise dance though Sad

Just wanted to come in and send love to everyone who needs it (most of us, i guess) - am off to have a new business meeting via Skype. ooh I'm such a go-getter, me Hmm

Sometimesiwonder · 19/06/2012 11:20

14lbs????? Bloody hell, hats off to you, Sparkles Smile

graciesmall09 · 19/06/2012 11:26

Huge hugs to gigs for today. Get that internet working quick lady, because topsy will miss her smelly cheese we will miss you.

sometimes well done on the weight loss. I have managed to put on over half a stone. Stupid disease doesn't even make me lose weight.

kurri hope you are feeling a bit better this morning.

smee tiny bit jealous of even having one perky boob. I need extra strong scaffolding to hold mine in place.

OK must go as not very long up and I have to drop some forms at church and the office closes at 12. Catch up later.

KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 11:28

Wow well done Sparkles - you deserve a doughnut! Grin 14lbs is brilliant going.

I'm pretty impressed with business meetings on Skype too Sometimes. I used to skype DD when she was at Uni and I spent most of my time shouting 'what do I press, why won't this work, what does this mean, help me' at her
And she'd look at the video link and say 'what on earth are you wearing Mum?'
Grin

graciesmall09 · 19/06/2012 11:28

oops sometimes and sparkles mixed up the names.

sometimes glad funeral went as well as it could go.

KurriKurri · 19/06/2012 11:29

gracie - x-posted, steroids will make you gain wait - don't worry about it until after you've finished your treatment, then you can tackle the extra pounds Smile

SparkleRainbow · 19/06/2012 11:34

Woo skyping sometimes.....well done you.

I used to skype my mum everyday with the dc when we lived in USA. She got a lot of naked grandchildren shots.....it was hot and I was attempting to potty train!

Thank you for the encouragement, not sure that I deserved the second doughnut though.....will have to be extra hard on myself later.
