OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 05/07/2012 09:47

Hi bollocks (sorry, it was only a matter of time, you're right, MAS!!!) sorry you're here, but glad you've found us. The waiting is completely the worst bit, it's completely shit and I hate it! Once you know what's what, then you know what you're dealing with. I was diagnosed in January and am currently in the throes of my first week of radiotherapy (or rads). My son is nearly 5, and I know completely how you feel about th fears of leaving them behind. But amber is right - there is so much that can be done these days, should the results be not what you are hoping for. Hang out with us, lots of hugs and xxx and Thanks and some Smile too. Xxx

eight! Great to see you! Good to hear you've cracked on with the old tamoxifen. I am creating all sorts of side effects in my head - actually, I feel fine! On 4th rads today - a walk in the park so far! The crap bit for me is driving and trying to park in the consistently full car park! Am planning to explore other parking options today.

amber glad mr psycho been sent on his way. Remember tamoxifen protection squad always available. . .

gig sorry to hear your shoulder is playing up again. Hope you can get some rest today.

topsy I love a bit of pear, cutted up or otherwise!

figgy what news on DS?

Waves to MAS, kurri, smee, gracie and anyone else lurking Smile Hope people got nice plans for today x x x

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 09:47

Ooh, Fried Green Tomatoes is lurvly. As is the book (but then I am a big Fanny Flagg fan, if you like the film try reading 'Standing in the Rainbow' it's like being in a warm fuzzy bath).

NedSchneebly · 05/07/2012 09:48

X post bollocks take it easy today x x

Gigondas · 05/07/2012 09:49

A nice sofa day is exactly what you needbollocks - anything that makes you feel more cheery is good.

sometimes I like pear too but not shoved up my nose. Grin

Waves to sometimes Hope all OK with you? Back OK? Not working too hard?

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 09:50

Cross post - Ned, I'm glad you are doing OK on the tamoxifen. It is mostly OK I find, but definitely a bit fat-making (any excuse not to blame myself)

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 10:04

Another cross post!!!!! Shock

Yes, I'm fine Ned - thanks! The back is pretty OK, definitely getting better, and the pain in my legs is all gone. Hoorah!!! Went back to Pilates on Monday and it was OK although I think I could feel one of the screws Hmm Envy )

WALBollocks - back stuff is nothing to do with BC so don't get worried: just a dodgy old back that has been 30 years in the fixing.

Definitely only pretending to work too hard.....

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 10:18

Just looked up Paget's Disease of the breast, Bollocks. I think a biopsy just there is likely to be pretty sore for a few days. Sad

But this too shall pass

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2012 11:22

waves to sometimes - hope mammo goes ok,and not too uncomfortable...am going to clean (sigh)

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 11:25

Thank you! It'll be the usual mad dash to fight my way onto the hospital site and then find a parking space, followed by a vicious mugging for £4.20 to park Shock I suppose Hmm.

Oh yak! re cleaning. Is it really unavoidable?

topsyturner · 05/07/2012 11:46

Morning All

Good luck for your mammo sometimes

And Bollocks we aren't always the strong positive women we appear to be .
You are allowed to be a gibbering wreck here too Smile

Once I finally got to sleep (around 4am) I had a bloody awful dream .
Dreamt Onc told me I have a liver tumour !
I even had a path report in my hand .
Said I had a liver tumour that weighed approx 38g ?????
How bizarre is that ?

smee · 05/07/2012 11:49

MAS, sunglasses help with cleaning. Wear v. dark ones then you can't see the dust. Grin

Racing in and out, so no time.

Amber, bugger about stalker man's new tack. I still reckon we should send the girls round. He wouldn't stand a chance. Grin

No news from Figgy on her DS yet. Hope it was good news.

Gig, shoulder sounds horrid. Have you tried an Physio? I went to one when mine was bad and he fixed it with lots of massage.

Waving to eight. Nice to see you back. I've been not too bad on Tamoxifen. Just the hot flushes, which are a sod.

No time for more, but wishing Sometimes a favourable parking space and a not too ouch mammo. And a big hello to Bollocks. The waiting's hell, but stick here. We more than get how scary it it all is. And take heart from us. We're all very much still here. Smile

Right, got to run to a meeting. Wishing you all sun. Really quite nice here. Shock

graciesmall09 · 05/07/2012 11:57

sometimes hope the mammo goes well and not too squashy.

ned parking is a total pain, the car park is always full when I arrive but I noticed my cancer centre has a car park just for radiotherapy patients. It isn't in the main hospital site seems to be to the back of it. May be worth asking if your hospital has a designated parking area.

Waving hi to walob. Sorry you find yourself here. Waiting around is awful. I was diagnosed in March and I would have been totally lost without the girls on this site. They are keeping me relatively sane. amber is the stats queen. Her stats always cheer me up.

mas how is DS cough?

figgy any word about your DS or did I miss the post?

Love the link gigs. Hippos made me laugh.

Off to paint DD's nails and my own. I really need to start thinking about DH's birthday. He is 50 in September but I will still be going through treatment so can't organise a trip. There was a fab deal on Groupon today for Murcia but it runs out in November and I am not due to stop rads until November, argh.

graciesmall09 · 05/07/2012 12:00

crosspost.

Waves to topsy and smee.

Aw topsy is is probably just the stress of starting your chemo next week that is causing the dreams. I will take your mind off it on Monday while I chuckle at them slicing your arm open to insert your picc

topsyturner · 05/07/2012 12:18

Feck Orf Gracie !
That's tonight's nightmare sorted Grin

graciesmall09 · 05/07/2012 12:46

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2012 13:12

grr about dream topsy- remember,I heard somewhere that things you dream about don't come true (the nasty things anyway)
Tiresome cleaning done- now I feel I can work, though have little S to collect and mind later.
Ds still coughing a lot but it seems less chesty- have never known him to have such a long lasting thing.

KurriKurri · 05/07/2012 14:44

Afternoon all - catching up on your posts (slow down, slow down!) Good luck with the mammo Sometimes, - hope its not too uncomfortable.

DH's blood tests came back clear, - he spoke to our usual doctor, and he seems to think the problem is silent reflux, and has given him some protein inhibitors (? I think anyway) so he's to try them for 2 weeks see if it gets any better.

Can I just go to the end of the garden, put my head in a bag and scream very loudly that I hate shingles. - I was up all night with the pain - it is really getting me down. I'm going to see if I can get some stronger pain killers from the doc or something, - anything - aaaaaargh

My post seems to be a big old moan and all about Me Me MEEEEEEE! - sorry Blush

Going to read through all your posts now, and try to be slightly less self absorbed Grin waving to all.

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 14:58

MAS - ds may have some hay fever that is making the throat thing worse? Just a thought but dd and I both have scratchy throats and slight coughs with hay fever this year, so it may be something similar.

KK - silent reflux sounds like a reasonable result for DH. Horrible, I know, but should be manageable. Sorry about the shingles Sad Not long now (I hope).

Stressing about the mammo a bit - they took an extra picture.

Gigondas · 05/07/2012 15:10

sometimes will sit on paranoia box for you but extra photo may just be cos didnt get right angle. I wouldn't read anything into it.

gracie how about a new year trip? What type of things does dh like? I am definitely doing something when I finish this .

smee I did have a Massage this morning and was amazing. Feel a lot less stiff but very tired so curled up in bed waiting for district nurse to do my picc check and bloods.

kurri sorry you are still feeling so yuck.

Have shaved head as it was coming out in clumps Round the house - dh disappointed that he didn't get to sheer me. Big gig wants to play with my head scarves and mini gig dribbled milk in response to new hair. Feel a lot better now it's shaved .

topsy I am off to surf net to give you some alternative dreams. I also have those horribly realistic medical type nightmares -usually when you are just trying to get back to sleep so has a half life like quality.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2012 15:14

don't stress sometimes - the radiographer won't be looking for anything on your film, just making sure that it's nice and clear and in focus...they aren't trained to make diagnoses..
kk moan away about shingles as I know it's
an awful thing to have- hope the protein things have an effect on dh
That's interesting about hayfever- might be aggravating T.
Have just seen &gig*'s photo of shorn head on fb tamoxifen page and it made me feel very emotional- she looks great !

Gigondas · 05/07/2012 15:14

Alternative viewing for Topsy [[

Club tropicana]]

It is almost as shocking when I look at this to think George Michael is gay- who knew? It's like when you told me that dale winton may be that way inclined.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 05/07/2012 15:35

Gig - Dale himself has described his sexuality as an 'enigma' - so who knows? Remember when he pretended to get married to some female model, and lots of old ladies sent him gifts saying it was so nice he had settled down?

Sometimes - I second the 'just trying to make sure they have a good shot' theory. They won't have been looking for anything while they take the mammo.

I think you are very wise to shave your head Gig, - it's going to come out, better to get it out of the way than keep finding clumps of it everyday. I bet you look gorgeous - you have such a beautiful face you could carry off any hairstyle (or lack of one) Smile

A friend of mine is having a free hypnotherapy session today (offered at our cancer support centre) - she wants it to help lose weight. So I'll see how she gets on and I think I might have a go.

MAS - hayfever might well be affecting T, - it can really irritate your throat.

Sometimesiwonder · 05/07/2012 15:49

Thanks guys - in that case I shall get off the paranoia box, stopping only to snaffle a tea cake.

Gig does indeed look rather lovely with her head shaved. Some people really can carry it off

KK - I had hypno for weight loss, and it helped me to lose about half a stone with really zero effort. You just find yourself naturally doing the things you know you really should. Time I went again, I fear....

graciesmall09 · 05/07/2012 15:52

kurri glad DH blood test normal. Hope the tabs work. Love the sound of the hypnotherapy. Was that a Macmillan? May have a look at that as well as I will have far too much a bit of weight to lose after this.

mas glad DS cough not as chesty. Could it be a post nasal drip? That makes me sound so knowledgeable but I had that years ago and had a cough for ages. Dr prescribed an antihistamine and it cleared up in no time.

gigs you head will feel so much more comfortable. The hair falling out made me feel sick and I felt so much better once it was gone. You look fab by the way.

sometimes hugs to you but I agree with everyone else. The radiographer won't have you previous films and they don't diagnose. Their job is to make sure the films are clear and reportable. When do you get your results?

Just finished hoovering which was a nightmare as the stupid mutt decided he hated the hoover and followed me around attacking it and barking constantly. He has gone for a lie down now feeling very proud of himself for protecting me.
