Had second lot of acupuncture today-so impressed with effects last week.I have joined the gym [been to first session] and bought a new swimsuit.I have also rejoined Weight Watchers-maybe I'll find at least part of my old self lurking somewhere. It is even possible that thegreylady may become less monochrome-though I'll never be a scarlet woman Grin

Gigondas · 23/06/2012 21:19

Grin - good for you grey lady. I went this morning (it's only a 2 minute walk). I did feel ropey during it but went to sleep after and have felt ok if tired all day.

Worked wonders for various pregnancy and aches and pains in past so hoping it helps.

Waves to SR - lovely to see you, - that feeling when your youngest leaves school is very strange and emotional, - I felt the same when my DD finished.

Lucky old you going to the Olympics - I bet it will be really good fun Smile

Well done Greylady, I joined the gym a couple of weeks ago too, - but haven't had a chance to use it properly yet - will go when I'm back on my feet, I actually really enjoyed the session I did go to. Hope the acupunture works for you again - I know several people who absolutely swear by it.

Gig I hope you are shakin' your funky thang like a good 'un Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/06/2012 23:03

impressive greylady ! am glad acupuncture is working well.
SR waves enthusiastically ! - I think all new movings on with dcs must feel strange-I know I always feel sad at the end of stages.
Dh says that T has a cough now - I feel decidedly not right so will go to bed soon- suspect it's a cold.

Figgyroll · 24/06/2012 10:27

Morning all. Grey and blowy here, for a change. Smile

Greylady, glad the acupuncture is doing you good and well done on joining the gym.

KK, you'll soon be back at the gym, once you're fit and well. There's no rush, get yourself better first. Hope you had a good night's sleep.

Oh dear MAS, hope you feel better soon. I think you've come down with the same as DS. Get yourself to bed and instruct DH to bring you tea and fbs every now and then.

It's a quiet day here in the Figgy household. We're busying ourselves doing housey stuff.

Footie tonight (again).

Figgyroll · 24/06/2012 10:29

MAS, I forgot, you're on your own, aren't your own while your boys are away? Oh well, enjoy the solitude and have a lovely rest in bed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2012 11:50

aw figgy thanks for that- am up and about as I must do some work, but it's nice and peaceful here, and quite sunny...I shall be fine I'm sure.

smee · 24/06/2012 14:10

MAS, what a shame you're feeling ill. Still, nice and quiet house to feel ill in.

Hello to SR. Must be odd knowing DS might leave v.soon. Did his A's go well?? Hope they did. We've got Olympic tickets too - was amazed to get some from first round. They're for one of the Athletics heats sessions. They were the cheapest tickets, so we'll be right at the back somewhere, but still who cares. We've got Paralympic swimming tickets too. Very exciting. Smile

Greylady, glad to hear you like the acupuncture.

Teens are at their music festival thing. Keeps raining on them, but I doubt they'll mind. Nowt else to tell. Waving to all through the wet. Smile

KurriKurri · 24/06/2012 18:29

evening all, - bother to the cold MAS - hope it clears soon, meanwhile take things easy xx

We're watching the footie later too Figgy, - DH has become an honorary Englishman Grin

Smee - envious of your olympic tickets, - it will be such an experience just to be there, - and what a great thing for your DS to say he went to.

A friend of mine's DS has got a job stewarding at the Olympics, - they pay them £3000 I think she said, and they get their accomodation and meals - staying on a cruise ship apparently! - but great for him, he's just finished his A's too.

I managed to do a bit of gardening today - only pottering in the greenhouse, and repotting some houseplants and a few other little jobs, but it was lovely to get out in the fresh air, - of course I'm knackered now, but it was worth it.

Hope everyone has had a peaceful Sunday, and chemo girls aren't feeling too yucky and are taking things easy.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2012 18:49

waving to smee and kk - stewarding job sounds great for someone after their A levels -what fun !
Dh and T are just back- poor T has a very nasty cough Sad but I think they had a very nice time and by all accounts have eaten well !

Figgyroll · 24/06/2012 19:08

Evening all. Yes, very envious of Olympic tickets. We didn't apply for any but DS1 applied for loads and didn't get any and neither did any of his friends. One of my friends has got tickets for a trampoline event and they are trying to sell them on as they arent really interested.

KK, hope you haven't overdone it today. It's so therapeutic to get into the fresh air though, it's hard to pace yourself.

MAS, glad the boys got back safely. Shame about DS's cough. Good job he didn't have it while he was in NY. Any exams next week?

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2012 19:27

exams finished for him - he has singing lesson tomorrow so maybe they'll do some theory instead Grin

smee · 24/06/2012 19:49

Blimey Kurri, are you sure it's £3,000. I thought Olympics is only for 3 weeks and if he gets all food/ accom too?! Bit different to those poor souls who had to camp down under Waterloo Bridge when working for the Jubilee.

MAS maybe DS's cough is because it's all over - he's had quite a lot going on what with NYC and exams.

DH just settling down to watch the footie. Got to pick up teens later so can't even have any Wine Am pouring some for you all instead. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2012 19:57

thanks for Wine smee Can you have a glass later ?
I expect you're right- people often get poorly once big projects etc are over- he seems in good spirits though.

KurriKurri · 24/06/2012 19:58

I think it is Smee - I know it was an impressive amount of money, - he had to do a weeks training a while ago, and yes all food and accom. - pretty good for an 18yr old lad I thought! (He lives in the North so staying in London will be an adventure for him too, and then in Sept. he starts college training to be a sports journalist - so ideal for him - jammy so-and-so Grin)

DH has made some bread, so I'll throw a few + strawberry jam onto the trolley.

Hope T is feeling better soon MAS - maybe singing not the best thing for him tomorrow though!

jchocchip · 24/06/2012 20:00

Did someone say Wine? Thanks smee! My brother has been here this weekend so I've been neglecting you all. Bit tired now so an early night for me. Just watch a little bit of tv first...

Went to see the torch today but the crowd was so big, only got a glimpse as it flashed past.

Gigondas · 24/06/2012 20:02

Oh bread and jamGrin. Not doing too badly here - watching football but had a nice quiet day. I still have one more day of steroids for this cycle so can I expect a dip after that?

Hope being home makes t feel better mas.

We gave our Olympic tickets to some family friends as we're meant to be on holiday(post for another time but rest of family will prob still go but I will stay here depending on how I feel).

Tbh my sore neck troubling me more than anything- I have Pilates booked which know will help(it's one to one with friend who is brilliant) so hope am up to it.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 24/06/2012 22:41

hope pilates helps gig
bread sounds yum kk -cannot resist bread.
Can't remember who is having treatments this week...but love to all anyway.

topsyturner · 24/06/2012 23:08

Mmmmmm bread .
I bloody love bread .

I didn't feel any different once I stopped my oral steroids Gigs , but I normally was on my anti sickness driver , and I believe the cocktail in that included steroids ?

Am watching old episodes of QI and giggling .
Better than the sodding football !

Wound was weeping quite badly today . Managed to soak through dressings , bra and vest .
Sigh .
Getting sick of this .
Nurse here tomorrow .
Oh and have to phone CT department as they managed to send CT apt for exactly same day and time as pre chemo and picc line apt !

Slept for 3 hours this afternoon , hence no sleep now .

Boooooooored !

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/06/2012 08:27

gah topsy -that is a total pain Sad
I too have had a third night of not much sleep- bah.
Still, nice and sunny here.

Gigondas · 25/06/2012 08:32

How you doing night owl topsy?

OP posts:
topsyturner · 25/06/2012 08:34

Yaaaaaawn ...
Grin

Gigondas · 25/06/2012 09:37

Ouch... What do you do when kids have lurgy? Big gig starting to Sneeze and snot in the way only not quite 4 year olds can.. Realistically it's hard to try to dodge stuff (aside from doing hand washing ,usual hygiene etc)
Perils of having young kids I suppose- ironic that all my pfb antics when they were new born worked quite well but may not save me from the joys of infection Wink

OP posts:
topsyturner · 25/06/2012 10:07

I was really lucky Gigs , during my last course of chemo I didn't get any lurgies .
In fact the cold I had recently was the only one I have had in over a year !
Please keep an eye on your temperature though .

Gigondas · 25/06/2012 10:27

Am doing that Topsy- fingers crossed will be ok.

I am also using it as an excuse to avoid all soft play type nonsense Grin

Nanny2 here today- so far she seems great and what's more quite restful to have in house. Nanny1 can talk the hind legs off a donkey so there is no such thing as a peaceful cuppa ...
