topsyturner · 21/06/2012 10:45

Grrrr *Gracie , nice to hear your mum is being useful in times of need !
If I could drive I'd come and do the school run for you !

Gig can't believe I missed the bacon and cinnamon chocolate !
Who would even sell such a monstrosity ?

No nurses yet , but it is peeing down out there . So maybe she's sheltering in someone's house ?
Maybe I'm weird , but I always have an urge to invite our poor postie in on days like today .
Think the poor man might be terrified though Grin

topsyturner · 21/06/2012 10:47

And hugs to sparkle , sometimes , and especially kk and her teasels !

graciesmall09 · 21/06/2012 10:48

Good luck neds sorry I must have missed you were going for a planning meeting.

mas hope you don't get any school calls today.

graciesmall09 · 21/06/2012 10:50

xposted with Topsy. Aw that is sweet of you. Mum's favourite line is 'I would love to be helping but I'm just not able'. Grrrr

smee · 21/06/2012 11:11

Too much to catch up on, but Gracie good luck with chemo and grr to your mum.

Gig spotted you're still not feeling sick, which is brilliant. How are you feeling besides that?

Got to run - lots to do work wise. Will drop in when I can though. Waving to all. Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 11:58

Ah thanks, MAS - not stressed really, just spread a bit thin. Loads of work to do, and dd's social life seems to come before everything - have to fit in work, a dentist's appt (me), finding a suitable photo of dd (not easy they always reject whatever I put on there), attaching it to the form for her next TKD grading, dealing with DH's request for me to locate dd's wetsuit for the weekend away etc, etc, etc. Small hassles and insignificant compared with proper grown up health ones - but just quite a lot of them!

The sun has just come out here, ladies! I hope it has with you, too. Hang loose and positive vibes to all xx

Baskets45 · 21/06/2012 12:05

In answer to Mas, I have written down names Savannah (purple), Jadie, Josepha, Beulah (I think purple too, not black as too 'tame' - i am mad middle aged woman so a bit of colour required). No, I'm not expecting girl triplets, just ref to Specsavers frames!! Of course I will change mind several times in shop. To go for bus about 1pm and have a little time before appt to peruse frames in shop. i've decided to go for dearer ones, I think, as desire sprung hinges this time - I have bad habit of letting specs slide down rather large hooter, so hope springs might keep in place better, and can no longer wear contacts (dry eyes) so wear specs all day, and I am worth it. And it's only money. Good you'll get new specs at weekend. What have you chosen, mas? I might have to wait till next weekend as no spare cash before then to pay balance. Hen and stag do this weekend (for nephew and intended) and ds1 needs beer money and going to York; I will spend much less/ be the only sober person in glasgow this weekend, perhaps. I wonder what's on tv late Saturday as will be in hotel room with tv. Rare novelty for residents of Baskets Boarding House.

Gigondas · 21/06/2012 12:12

That sounds a lot to sort sometimes.

I look forward to hearing your glasses choice baskets and weekend away sounds fun.

gracie my mum pretty good but I do get the odd " I can't do this because " so am
Wary of relying on her (hence over reliance on nannies).

topsy are you inviting the postie in wearing a confessions of a window cleaner type negligee?Wink

mas hi! Glad ds well enough to eat bagel if still not right

ned wishing you a not too tedious planning session.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 21/06/2012 12:13

No new glasses for me til mini gig clear of the pull them off and eat them phase.

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 12:23

New glasses can be quite cheering. I recently had some new green ones: they were quite hard to find amongst all the same-y ones. Our optician boasts 'thousands of frames' - yup, but they are indistinguishable from one another Hmm

Baskets, I do like the sound of purple ones.....

Here - dd's school has phoned - dd wants me to go and take in the class chocolate (treats because of her birthday) today instead of tomorrow for operational reasons. Arse.

back later (I hope)

Baskets45 · 21/06/2012 12:27

Don't want you to think i don't care, so signed back in, briefly. Hope rain stays off for school pick up, gracie, and syringe driver does trick. Sorry about your ma - cna oyu explain that you need a bit of extra support at mo? I know it rather depends on personalities involved ... likewise, gig, hope nausea/sickness kept at bay, and it's not all too grim, esp the night nurses and catering!! (In defence of night nurses everywhere, I think night shifts do weird things to the owner's brain - and some are just lazy, weird bastards in the first place. mmm, not a defence as much as an explanation perhaps). Hope topsy's nurse has her on list today. Hope sometimes gets through all her jobs. I am evading my responsibilities for the day by going to optician's. I see there are some sick/tired/exhausted children - hope they settle soon. and hope appt goes well for sparkleson. Kurri - rest up and send those shingles into touch. I had to ask DH what a teasle was/is . Sorry your mum needs extra support too. QU. How does she feel about leg/mobility? Is it worse after fall?Nothing you can do just now. You need to put No 1 first for a bit.

Gentle hugs and good wishes to all of you.

xxx

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/06/2012 12:52

When I was doing the rounds of the Pound Shops last week, I came across this Yeuch!

Sparkle darling, I also just have to blunder in and out now as I can't keep up. But always delighted to see you and give you and your lovely DS a big hug x

Good luck to Ned and Gracie for today x

Good luck with your big To Do List Sometimes - I see an 'emergency' has just been shoe-horned in too!

Have similar stressful amounts of things on at the mo - and just had to take DS2 in for an emergency dentist appointment - first filling for our DC Sad, thorough teeth brushing not high on priority list for an autistic child who gets seriously distracted mid-anything!

smee · 21/06/2012 13:03

Sad Lime. DS had to have a filling a while back. Fortunately rest of teeth are sound. Was a bit baffled, as he eats really well and has never had sweets apart from v.occasional treat. Dentist went through his diet and blamed his dried apricot habit. I have never felt more middle class. Grin

Off in search of a bagel. MAS, you just mentioning them has made me want one. Hope DS still okay.

Healing vibes for Sparkle, Gig, Topsy and Kurri and thinking of you Ned for Rads planning. Hope it doesn't take too long. Probably missed lots of people. Sorry, just rushed today. Sometimes, hope you're getting through your v.long list. xx to all. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 13:16

lime you sound stressed too-and Sad for filling
My specs baskets -don't think they have names,at least I didn't notice will try to link to them...I get them the weekend after this as they're varifocals which take longer to make, apparently.
No call from school so far,so guess ds has felt ok.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 13:26

these are my sunglasses here and my main specs these ones

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 13:57

Liking those, MAS - both of them!

Smee Shock at ds needing filling if he never eats sweets, what a bind! Lime - fear not, we can only do so much and after that we just have to take what comes. Fillings make you feel a bit like a bad mummy, but they are not such a big deal in the big scheme of things, whatever face the dentist pulled Wink

Healing vibes to all having treatment or appointments. x

No photos of dd here that are likely to make the TKD cut - so we'll have to go to a photo booth after school. That'll please her (not) Wink

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 14:04

some children,no matter how good they are about sweeties and whatnot and brushing just have bad luck with teeth, nothing to do with parents.
Bah about photo sometimes

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/06/2012 14:10

Ooh MAS those are both v lovely!

Thanks for sympathy re DS filling - and Grin at middle-class-apricot-habit!

DS2 still has choc from Easter and Christmas in his room! I have to eat it myself remind him to eat it! Do feel a bad mummy tho - I know I should have been cleaning them myself, just cos other kids his age are doing it themselves, I know he's not really capable.

Bah Sometimes! Another task for your list! Doesn't DD like the booths? Mine do.

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 14:14

No - so on her passport photo she likes like a turtle who is about to burst into tears. And she normally takes quite a nice picture, not like her Mum who always looks like a raddled old boot Hmm

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/06/2012 14:20

No you don't Sometimes - we've seen you, albeit sideways! Arf (and sympathy) for tearful turtle tho!

Hope lunch was tolerable Gig, what strange combo today?

KurriKurri · 21/06/2012 14:24

Like the specs MAS - very swish, purple ones are especially lovely.

Sorry little ones have had to have fillings Lime and Smee - I think MAS and Sometimes are right, so much of it is luck with teeth - you get kids that live on sweets DH and his Sister and have strong teeth, and other children who do everything right and still get holes. Our dentist used to pt a coating of some sort of plasticky stuff on DD's teeth to protect them because she has very ridged teeth so more vulnerable apparently, - and it seemed to do the trick for her.

Hope you can find a photo Sometimes - I hate photo booths - I once spent about £20 in one of them trying to get a photo that didn't make me look like an imbecile - the children made me keep all the failures so they can get them out and laugh at them every so often Grin I'm sure your DD will do better though, sounds as if she is doing well at the TKD if she's onto the next grading.

I have had a cool shower to douse calm my head down, which has helped a little bit. Only thing that helps is co-codamol, but I'm trying not to take to many as (TMI) they totally bung me up.

The doctor's approach to mum's leg seems to be wait until it turns backwards and collapses under her before doing anything, including an x-ray Hmm She can't put any weight on it at all because it hurts too much - its the thigh/hip she has injured. So she's lying on the settee, and just managing to hobble to the loo using her walking frame. My sister is going round and making her meals and checking she's OK.

Doctor has said that she's not to go upstairs at all, - but that's where her bathroom is (there's a downstairs loo but only a little sink for washing in there).

KurriKurri · 21/06/2012 14:26

Sometimes - would DD prefer her phot done in a chemist? - that's where I got my passport photo done, - you just sit in a chair and they snap you, - slightly less hideous than the booths. I sympathise, my DD absolutely hated having her photo taken for anything official. Whereas DS loved sticking his face in front of a camera Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 14:28

oh kk that's awful - your poor mum- that can't be right.

KurriKurri · 21/06/2012 14:31

I know MAS - it's a worry, I have told her to insist on an x-ray, but she seems unwilling to make a fuss.

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 14:32

Poor Mrs KK senior Sad Elderly people's needs seem to be ignored rather often, don't they? Hard on her and your sister.

What's the recovery time from shingles, then KK? Have they said? I hear it is very painful. Would good old fashioned calamine lotion do anything? I got dd a tub of aqueous mixed with calamine for an eczema outbreak a couple of weeks ago and while that's not the same thing, obviously, it was pretty much instantly skin soothing (possibly not ideal for the scalp). it was unbranded and totally cheapo from the pharmacy.

DD is indeed doing well at TKD and also at swimming, where she has just moved up another swimming group. I wish she'd slow down really, it makes me feel tired and it's expensive
