Just made a sort of Topsy version of a carbonara with my chicken breasts .
It was blardy luffly even if I do say so myself !
I am more stuffed than a stuffed thing on National Stuffed Day .
Hmm wonder what I can have for pudding ... ?

(this was posted purely to wind up Gigs with her hospital supper of puréed rissoles and maraschino cherries , based on this lunch times offerings)

Gigondas · 20/06/2012 18:47

topsy school mash, nuked lamb and leeks followed by some sort of vanilla pudding . You owe something on trolley for that teasing.

Trouble is didn't fancy another sandwich (separately is how I ate that food at lunch) and
Dh bought in a veg curry to microwave which I am wary about as although ok now am nervous of sick/jiffy stomach.

Kurri so sorry about your mum- but day care centre sounds nice.

Eats it in style of pig dog.

Have super chatty night nurse - which is fine but I don't need half an hour of her life history

Dear God no Gigs !
I need the bowl back Grin

Fake sleep/death and chatty night nurse may bog off .
I had night nurse who admired the photo I had at my bedside of my "beautiful children" (her words) . She took the photo round the ward telling other people to look at "the beautiful children" . When she finally brought it back to me she said "are they adopted?" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thegreylady · 20/06/2012 22:11

Gig my dh used to bring lovely homemade soup in a flask and crusty bread rolls fresh from bakers. He also brought small bits of cheese. You can get little packets of cheese nibbles which are delicious.
Good Luck in there-lime juice in fizzy water is great when your mouth feels yucky.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2012 22:25

arf @ your nurse topsy- cheeky mare. I should pretend to be asleep gig.

Baskets45 · 20/06/2012 22:26

Are they adopted? that is seriously weird. i've been running through possibilities for why she said that, but it's simply weird. Did she maybe mix you up with someone else? That's still a very nosey qu though.

Gig, can you get some of those eye shields like you use on airliners? and just politely tell Chatty Nurse you need to rest/sleep/too weary to do conversation?

I did wonder about lunch, relieved to know it was separate not combined. strange all the same, methinks. Hospitals are weird places - makes me glad I don't work in one. And very glad I'm not an inpatient either.

Off back to salivate over Specsaver website. The things that excite these days ...

Good night, everyone.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 07:44

which ones do you like on the SpecSavers website ? am looking forward to having mine (ready next weekend)
Ds seems to be well enough for school,at least he is intending to go - poor lamb-he is never off ill, very unusual for him to feel poorly.
Hope gig is ok and not starving.
Thinking of you and of gracie today x

graciesmall09 · 21/06/2012 08:01

Hope you finally got to sleep gigs. When I was in there were 2 male night nurses who 'forgot' to turn the lights off and spent most of the night shouting to each down the ward. One came over as soon as he arrived and said 'I am Rufus from Nigeria, if you need me press this button' demonstrating it for me. The 3 men in the ward liberally pressed the button all night and at one stage 'Rufus' stormed up the ward, woke me from my doze and demanded to know if I had rung the bell Hmm

Nice nurse Topsy may be she wasn't a nurse just a deranged patient from the Tower Block who had lost their way. Grin

mas glad DS feeling well enough to go to school.

My eldest is in the bad books bad mummy alert. He has the worst eating habit known to man (fruit, veg, fibre are all unknown entities to him) and I was able to keep it more under control when he was at primary school. Now because he is in 4th year he has easy access to rubbish. So yet again he is constipated and has been up all night with pains in his stomach and off school today. Perfect timing as the nurses are coming for my chemo. I get so cross as it is self inflicted and he is such a wuss he won't take the Movicol GP gave him. I made 2 separate ones up this morning and they both went down the sink. Next year you may very well see him at the Oscars for Best Newcomer. So very cross Gracie this morning.

greylady are you fully recovered from your pneumonia? Lime juice in water was my favourite (non-alcoholic) drink but chemo has put me off it Sad

Hope everyone has a fab day. Chemo for me so fingers crossed this syringe driver does what its meant to.

topsyturner · 21/06/2012 08:53

Morning All

After a lovely sunny day yesterday , it's now peeing down here .
Cue grumpy DS as he splashed off to school this morning !

Gracie good luck with the chemo today . And a big grrrr to the boy !

Morning Gig . Hoping the sickness is still staying away and that you got some sleep last night .

Waiting for the nurse today . Waited all day yesterday , but they forgot to put me on the list !

Glad T is feeling well enough to make it into school today Mas .

How is everyone else today ?

SparkleRainbow · 21/06/2012 09:01

Morning Topsy - it is peeing it down here too! Hmm at nurses missing you off their list!

Gracie good luck today!

Gig I hope you managed some sleep last night.

Ds got home from his big concerty thingy at about 9.30 last night, he had to be dosed up on pain killers to keep going, but he wanted to do it so much. By time we got home he had a temp of 102 and was feeling right poorly. No school today, as he has a hospital appt, but don't know if I should cancel, he doesn't have a temp anymore but is feeling exhausted and headachy...thoughts? He is due to go to children's development centre, almost never has any other children there and can keep him away from everyone in case it is a virus as opposed to just exhaustion.

Gigondas · 21/06/2012 09:04

No flying pre work visit from dh with macd bagels - yum Grin

Slept ok and still no sickness so onto hospital toast and tea (well they call it tea , it's more like milky water that once brushed past a tea bag).

Grr re nurses topsy

gracie that is irritating when it is partly self inflicted. Dss can be a little martyr like that about taking medicine.

The lime juice idea is great. Fortunately am quite fond of ginger do have ginger beer, ale and cordial lined up.

Did I mention my dsis gift? Of bacon flavoured chocolate (which also had cinnamon flavouring in)... Truly it must be The biggest test of the anti sickness drugs I had

Gigondas · 21/06/2012 09:06

I would take him just in case and children's centre sounds fairly safe from your description sparkles . I do admire how tough your poor ds (although no choice ) Is . Un Mn hugs for your both.

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 09:25

ooh dear so many posts and I am so behind i don't know what's going on Sad

Have been on a course and have so many things I have to go to that i am not going to catch up. So I will just say, love to all, am thinking of you.

Also, I wanted to explain that i am going to be closing my Facebook account, so will not be in the Tamoxifen Ten group any more (no loss to anyone as I never go there) - nothing personal ladies, i will still be here, but for professional work reasons I want to be off Facebook and in other places instead.

Back later, when I hope to be able to keep up with today's outpourings, at least xx

SparkleRainbow · 21/06/2012 09:33

Sometimes - whether you go there or not, it will still be a loss.Smile I too am so far behind with what is happening on here, that I shall just have to blunder in every now and then.....still shall always bring fbs with me, so will still be welcome.

Gig - Thank you for your lovely thoughts about ds, I think I will take him, else we will have to wait an age for another appt. It is Sad that he has had to develop such toughness, but I am so proud of him. Right back at you for admiration over being tough and brave though Gig, you are amazing.

Can I just say bacon flavoured chocolate sounds absolutely heinous....an insult to both bacon and chocolate! Envy.....not for envy but for urghhh

Sometimesiwonder · 21/06/2012 09:39

Sparkles - thanks. Hugs for you and ds, hope he is OK.

Actually have just realised i can't leave bloody FB as I need to have a personal page so I can keep being an administrator on a client account. Bollocks. Have just locked my own page down as much as possible and will not be keeping it active. Not that I did anyway Wink

KurriKurri · 21/06/2012 09:50

Bacon flavoured chocolate has put me right off my breakfast Gig Grin - hope you get something reasonable to eat today from the hospital kitchens.
Lime juice is good - I found sharp tasting things good generally more refreshing. I also developed an addiction to apple flavoured lucozade - I used to buy a bottle at the WRVS shop everytime I'd had my chemo.

gracie good luck with chemo today, - sorry DS is feeling poorly, constipation makes you feel unwell generally I find not just your stomach. Will he take anything else like lactulose to help?(smaller amount to consume than movicol, as you just take a spoonful) It is hard when they won't eat the 'right' things - I had one who would eat anything, and the other was really fussy (and still is -no mushrooms allowed near her plate!) so I sympathise.

topsy - hope your nurse turns up today, - how could they forget you?

Sparkle I think I'd take DS if he can manage it - it doesn't sound as if its a bug if his temp is normal now, ad if there aren't any other children there it should be fine. Well done to him on his concert, he a determined little cookie Smile

Waving to everyone else, my shingles still very sore - feels like I have a teasle up my nose and stinging nettles in my eyebrow, and I feel exhausted that's the most frustrating bit. Moan moan moan - shut up Kurri you whinger Grin

DH is going to the doctor's this afternoon, so hopefully he'll get a bit further this time with finding out what his throat/cough problem is.

NedSchneebly · 21/06/2012 09:57

Hmm at bacon flavoured chocolate. . . Sounds wrong on so many levels! Was it tasty though, gig?! I think feigning sleep is the best way forward. Or saying cheerily "oh well, sleep time for me, I think. Goodness me, I'm tired!" Hows the sickness going today? Hope you're doing alright x x

Big hugs for sparkle and junior sparkle poor lad, so much to cope with all the time. Hope he feels better today and his appointment goes ok.

kurri sorry youre still feeling rotten. What a worry about your mum. Hope they can get the X-ray done and get her sorted out. Day centre assessment sounds sensible.

topsy I hope you slapped that rude nurse around the face with her own blood pressure cuff? Unbelievable!

MAS sorry T not well. Hope he's on the mend soon. How are you this morning?

sometimes take it easy, love. Don't work too hard x x

Got rads planning later.

KurriKurri · 21/06/2012 10:22

MAS - I missed that T was feeling poorly, poor chap - maybe his travels are catching up with him a bit?

Morning Ned Smile - good luck with the rads planning today.

graciesmall09 · 21/06/2012 10:28

GIVE ME STRENGTH. I can't do the school run this afternoon as same time as chemo and my friend who would usually help me out is sunning herself in Barbados. So DH having to get out of work to do it after being half hour late in as there was a traffic jam. So giving mum back her car as she has things to do and I took her for coffee. She said how much she was missing DD and I told her about the school run. 'Oh I would have done that but its raining'. For goodness sake she has a car, the school have given us access to the teacher's car park. She would have to walk literally 50 metres but no too far in the rain. Sorry I am a right misery guts. DD sports day on Monday 'no couldn't go as couldn't stand for so long', GB display in April 'not couldn't sit on the hard seats'. Can you see a theme here?

Poor minisparkle hoping he is feeling better and his appointment goes ok. Would be a shame to miss it.

kurri sending you get well vibes. Shingles is supposed to be very painful.

Hope your nurses turn up topsy. Good excuse though to sit and look out at the gruesome weather.

Off to have a very strong coffee and calm myself down. Between DS1 and DM I am in foul form.

Gigondas · 21/06/2012 10:32

That is exactly the kind of minor hassle that you can do without gracie as need no niggle or worries on chemo days.

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 21/06/2012 10:36

Feeling very disloyal but funny she could walk in the rain to the coffee shop.

How are you feeling this morning gigs? Hoping sickness staying away although any more bacon flavoured chocolate and you may need iv antisickness.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 10:42

grrr gracie -that isn't helpful at all, hope chemo goes as well as it can today, and ned's rads planning.

Poor kk with teasle up nose -sounds very, very irritating. Any news of your mum and her x ray ?
sparkle hugs to you and junior sparkle
Ds has gone in but really not quite right still- he said he felt siock this morning and disappeared to the bathroom, then came back saying he felt a bit better and ate his bagel. Am half expecting to have to bring him back from school - he is very stoic bless him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2012 10:43

sometimes you sound a bit stressed lovey-sending you a calm vibe.
