And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

Sorry posted too soon.
Right now. Make sure you eat and drink enough and get some rest so you can stay strong for your dd.

EmmaCate · 10/06/2012 05:48

Hand holding, and will remember B in the intercessional prayers today. I really hope it works out - like everyone said they probably have to give you worse case picture, but that isn't the only outcome possible.

Pastabee · 10/06/2012 06:12

Oh you poor things. How awful for you.

PoppyWearer · 10/06/2012 06:15

Oh you poor thing OP, sending positive thoughts your way x

StopEatingThatMud · 10/06/2012 06:16

Thank you lovely lovely people, I crashed out for s couple of hours and couldn't of asked for nicer messages to wake up to, given the circumstances.

Hawthers they've said pneumococal?? No idea on spelling, sorry. I've banned myself from Dr Google but dp claims it told him the stats are something like of those that get meningitis, of the percentage who also get septacemia, 15% have complications. Not sure what to make of those odds but am trying to stay positive.

Suppose we have to tell "real" people today, dreading the fuss, as well meaning as it is :(

Holding you and little Miss B in my thoughts today.

OhNoMyFanjo · 10/06/2012 06:24

Thinking of you and B.

Ring one person, your mum or whoever and tell them to call around and to make sure that no-one calls you (if that's what you want). You don't have to answer any calls you don't want to take, after all you can't answer tge phone in hospital Wink

Make sure you both eat something, no matter what it is, you have to keep your strength up or you will be no use x

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 10/06/2012 06:39

Sending you prayers and healing thoughts x

McKayz · 10/06/2012 06:43

Thinking of B, your DP and yourself Mud. Sending lots of positive thoughts to you all. Xx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/06/2012 06:48

Sending healing vibes to B.

Stay strong and take one day at a time. You cannot predict what the future holds so try not to waste energy on it. Use your energy to get through today and being there for B. It's tough and scary, but you can do it.

Jnice · 10/06/2012 06:50

Sending hugs and best wishes your way - be strong as your dd surely will be. Children are so amazingly resilient and she is in the best place now to recover x

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 10/06/2012 06:51

Praying for you and your dp, and dd.

PutOnAHappyFace · 10/06/2012 06:55

My cousin had meningitis as a baby and did need a hearing aid till she was about 12 but doesn't use one now.

Hope your DD heals quickly. X

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2012 06:57

So sorry to hear this, it must be terrifying
I had meningitis and scepticemia (??) at the age of 18. I recovered fully, had hearing loss for a little while in one ear but fine.

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2012 06:58

Where are you OP? Can you pick one friend who will support you, bring stuff over to the hospital and call everyone else?

GhouliaYelps · 10/06/2012 07:01

Thinking of you and little b x

Sirzy · 10/06/2012 07:03

Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

No experience of meningitis but know how scary it can be sitting by a hopsital bed not knowing what to expect. As hard as it is make sure you look after yourself to - get food, sleep and a good wash whenever you get the chance xx

Rosa · 10/06/2012 07:03

Positive thoughts for you and your dd, hope she will be ok......

swearytramp · 10/06/2012 07:04

I hope all is ok. How horrible and scary :(

CouthyMow · 10/06/2012 07:09

Hope things are improving for you. My DS1 had viral meningitis at 9 weeks old. Thankfully he had no lasting issues from it. He is now a hale and hearty 10yo who plays football and is the top of his class academically.

Fingers crossed for your DD that it has been caught early enough!

TwllBach · 10/06/2012 07:18

Thinking of you, your DP and B, OP. if there's anything We can do, let us know x

biddyofsuburbia · 10/06/2012 07:26

Will hold your family in my thoughts today - stay strong for your beautiful B and don't worry about RL people, they may be a comfort - let your family do what they can (shop/get food/coffee/answer your phone/keep well meaning others at bay) so you can concentrate on helping DD recover. I hope and pray she will be just fine and have no lasting complications -she's in the right place. Sending all good, meningitis zapping positive thoughts your wayX

32notout · 10/06/2012 07:30

Hope B is doing ok this morning (not sure why but I always felt better to see the sunrise when DD was sick).

My DD is doing well now, and has been discharged from follow up at the hospital. Treatment is so good now that the odds are very much in B's favour.

I know that the Meningitis Trust runs a helpline, if you wanted to speak to someone about it all x
