And I'm really really scared.

Is anyone up to hold my hand and tell me it'll be ok?

Just a quick check in to say things seem to be going well :)

B is now crawling and has been attempting to stand too over the last 48hrs. She's as chatty as ever, if not more so! We've had a lovely day today, I managed to take her swimming this morning and things really felt so much more "normal" somehow for the first time. I literally cannot believe this time a month ago we were where we were, talking about doing a lumbar puncture "just in case" and everything that has happened since.

She has a consultant appointment on Thursday so fingers crossed that goes well, but I've no reason not to think it will so far. We've not yet had the results from her full blood count last Thursday but guess we'll discuss that this Thursday and if there was anything serious I hope assume someone would of been in touch.

I can't begin to say thank you enough to everyone who has helped me through the last month with your kind words and support. Thanks & Brew all round. Reading Expats & Aillidah's story this last week has really made it hit home just how incredibly lucky we've been and I've promised myself I will sign up to the AN register once things are settled down here.

So glad that B is doing so well and lovely to hear you sound so much more relaxed.

funnyperson · 10/07/2012 03:31

What lovely news, especially about her talking-thank you for the update.
Is she eating OK? You sound happier too, naturally. Its strange how as mothers our happiness is so bound up with the wellbeing of our children.
Anyway, Smile for you and your dd

funnyperson · 10/07/2012 03:32

Were the meningitis trust any good as a matter of interest?

funnyperson · 10/07/2012 03:48

Good luck with the paediatric appointment. Take someone with you and write down all your questions beforehand. Sometimes it is worth ringing physio up and asking her if she/he can see dd on the same day so that you dont have to take so much time off work.

StopEatingThatMud · 10/07/2012 08:04

Thanks guys :)

funny she's eating well thanks, including demanding mouthfuls of whatever I happen to be trying to eat whenever she's around! I'll get her weighed on Thurs and have to call the dietician to discuss her progress and anything we need to do going forward.

The lady from the meningitis trust is calling me tomorrow to arrange a home visit. She did call last week but DP didn't know his shifts so it was a bit difficult to sort out.

Our paed consultant is very good at explaining things so I'm feeling ok about our appointment and DP has managed to get the day off to come with us. As far as physio goes, I got a letter yesterday to say we're on the waiting list so it could be a while before we see anyone. I'm lucky in that I work evenings and Saturdays so weekday appointments are no trouble for me, thank goodness!

Sounds like she's doing really well. Smile

WheresMyCow · 10/07/2012 11:34

Haven't checked this thread for a few days. So so glad to hear that B seems to be returning a little bit to her normal self Smile

StopEatingThatMud · 10/07/2012 21:08

I went to the gym today for an hour. Shock B went in the creche (she's been going there 2/3 times a week since she was 8 months and thoroughly enjoys herself). She LOVED being back Grin. And she even ate all her lunch that I took with her - in a month of being at nursery twice a week before getting ill, she ate dinner for them once, I thought she just didn't like eating around "other" people!

I even got to have an unaccompanied shower, hairwash and blow dry before I picked her up!! Grin

She's slept through the last couple of nights and has even had actual daytime naps too.

Quiet day planned for tomorrow before crazy Thursday. We now need to get her weighed in the morning, then she has her missed MMR jabs booked for after that. She has her consultant appointment at lunchtime and then the Meningitis Trust are coming to do their home visit in the afternoon so I figure we'll all benefit from some rest beforehand!

Rest sounds good. I'm all for rest. And peace and quiet and showers.

youarekidding · 10/07/2012 22:10

Absolutely fantastic update. Grin

Best of luck on Thursday

beautifulgirls · 10/07/2012 23:15

Sounds like she is making great progress now Stop. So pleased to hear things are on the up for you all now. I still look at my DD and wonder how we went through all that hell a year ago with her and see how brill she is now. Any child is special, but after an experience like this you will always have that little bit of extra love there for them too.

beatofthedrum · 12/07/2012 21:53

How has your crazy Thursday gone? Hoping for more good news :)

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 12/07/2012 22:31

Hi Mud. Hoping yo've survived your crazy Thursday and that you have some more positives from it. I'm sure you're sleeping now!! Still thining of you and B.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 12/07/2012 22:31

er, thinking, obviously Blush...

NoComet · 12/07/2012 22:36

Brilliant news, I was thinking of B yesterday. I'm glad she keeps getting better.

youarekidding · 12/07/2012 23:03

Just checking in to say I was thinking of you, DP and B today - hope all went well at the hospital.

StopEatingThatMud · 13/07/2012 20:19

Thanks guys :)

Hospital went well. Her consultant seems pleased with her progress and has asked to see her again in a month. She wasn't happy we've been put on the waiting list for physio so was going to push to get us seen sooner as B is still very much favouring her left side and drags her right leg when walking with a walker, but still she's come on so far from where she was. Her bloods are improving, her HB was up 9, I think, or maybe 10. They're going to re-do it next month when we're back to check it carries on improving. She also couldn't hear any trace of a heart murmur when she checked, but B was being somewhat uncooperative so she said she'll try again next month but there didn't seem to be anything to worry about!

Her weights improving and she's up in between the 9th and 25th centile now, she'd dropped down to the 9th when she was ill. She's never gained weight very fast though and has always been small so I'm happy with any gain!

The Meningitis Trust visit went well too. I felt a bit bad making her come out now though as B is doing so well! We didn't really have many questions but the info she gave us was useful and she seemed really knowledgeable plus she was absolutely lovely and I'd be more than happy to go back to her if anything comes up in the future and we need the support.

Her 12 & 13 month jabs seemed to go ok too and we've not had any major after effects to contend with.

I was absolutely shattered last night, I think I'd been worrying about the hospital visit more than I realised and was just glad to get yesterday over with. Fingers crossed things carry on the way they are :)

Great news.

Wine and bed for you x

beatofthedrum · 13/07/2012 20:59

So pleased it's all gone so well and that the physio is being attended to. No wonder you're shattered - cannot imagine the stress levels you've been living with. Am so glad you're getting reassurance on all those different levels. Hugs to you and B x

beautifulgirls · 13/07/2012 21:09

I agree, still no wonder you feel exhausted. Sounds very positive. Good luck with the physio appt being given to you soon.

dikkertjedap · 13/07/2012 21:51

Such good news! So pleased she is doing so well! Hope you all have a good and restful weekend. Wine
